Stimulating integral refurbishment principles in social housing as a challenge for sustainable development : case study
Metka Sitar, Vesna Žegarac Leskovar, Vlasta Krmelj, 2009, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: Circumstances of climate changes have raised the awareness of the role housingconstruction activity plays in being one of the major stimuli of socio-economic processes in Slovenia. Further encouragement came through corresponding EU-strategies focusing not only on new housing constructions butalso on refurbishment and renewal of the existing stock, which has been rather neglected. Firstly, information on the Slovenian housing system along with institutional and governance changes - having taken place since 1991 - will be presented, particularly in terms of tenure and housing ownership. In the middle of the 1990s, fragmented ownership was regulated by the formation of condominiums as the basis of housing management and maintenance. Further on, special attention will be paid to newly introduced policies concerning energy efficiency of building constructions at the national level. In addition, the paper will concentrate on endeavours to refurbish the existing multi-family housing stock which represents the most problematic financial issue in terms of a long term investment perspective. Slovenia has in fact notdeveloped any special policies regarding refurbishment of the existing housing stock, either at the national, or at the local level. The housing development sector of the Municipality of Maribor is one of the most significant cases in Slovenia, as far as transition consequences to be effected in the social housing sector are concerned. However, the transformation from an old industrial town into a sustainable community was characterized by extreme complexity. Relying upon its own development strategies the local building construction sector succeeded in remaining one of the most dynamic economic activities of the town and the region. As a recommendation, ideas of energy renewal strategies and measures, based on the local energy concept and supported by financial mechanisms of public private partnership, will be discussed.

An alternative sorting procedure for interactive group decision support based on the pseudo-criterion concept
Andrej Bregar, József Györkös, Ivan Rozman, 2003, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: An original interactive procedure is proposed, which aims at overcoming some of the major weaknesses of existent pseudocriterion based methods for group decision analysis. It refers to absolute judgements of feasible alternatives and is focused on complementary activities of opinion elicitation and robustness analysis. As a foundation, four interdependent principles are introduced - problem localization, interactivity on the basis of aggregation/disaggregation approach, automatic derivation of criteria weights according to selective effects of veto tresholds, and group consensus seeking. The principles are grounded and realized by appropriate methodological solutions.

The transferability of fracture-mechanics parameters to fracture performance evaluation of welds with mismatching
Masao Toyoda, Zdravko Praunseis, 2000, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The differences in the mechanical properties between different weld-metal regions obviously affect the strain distribution around the crack tip during a fracture test and hence influence the fracture toughness value. The variation in plastic constraint during fracture mechanics testing has an additional effect on the ductile and brittle fracture initiation behaviour of any weld joint. This paper deals with the transferability of fracture toughness results to the fracture performance evaluation of the strenght of mismatch welded joints based on the two-parameter criterion and the local approach. It was found that the numerical simulations based on the transferrable fracture concept are effective in practice.

Self-concept of students in inclusive settings
Majda Schmidt, Branka Čagran, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The present evaluation case study investigates the self-concept of the students from 7th grade in regular primary school. The study results indicate that, in comparison to their hearing peers, integrated students with a hearingimpairment have a lower academic and social self-concept, as well as a general self-concept but a higher physical self-concept. There are differences among students with a hearing impairment in both the individual dimension and general self-concept. There are no statistically significant differences between the class with integrated students, on the one hand, and the class without them, on the other; however, there is a noticeable advantage for the students from the class with integrated learners over the other class serving as control group in all three individual dimensions as well as in general self-concept.

Physical self-concept, anthropometry and body composition in preadolescents
Stojan Puhalj, Črtomir Matejek, Jurij Planinšec, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The main aim of this study was to determine the relationship of morphologic features and body composition to physical self-concepts in boys and girls separately. This research included 630 children from north-eastern Slovenia, aged 9 to 11 years (M = 10.01; SD = .810), of which 311 were boys and 319 were girls. Morphologic features of the children were measured with the use of a standardized anthropometric instrumentation; the Maltron BF-907 Body Composition Analyzer was used for the measurement of body fat, fat-free mass, and body water proportions. The gender, age, and physical self-concept data were acquired through the French version of The Physical Self-Inventory – a short form questionnaire for determining the physical self-concept of adolescents, adapted to Slovenia. The relation between individual morphological features and physical self-concept was determined by regression analysis. Statistical significance was established at 0.05. The results show that the physical self-concept is more closely connected with body composition and morphologic features in boys than in girls, whereas the body fat proportion is the strongest predictor of physical self-concept in boys. The findings show that, particularly in boys, the physical self-concept is also largely based on the morphologic features and body composition. It is necessary to give special attention to boys, as we often think that boys are not as concerned with the physical appearance as girls.

Understanding management concepts through development of their tool box
Marek Ćwiklicki, 2016, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper offers an alternative approach to defining the management concept. The proposed methodology relies on the identification of tools supporting the given concept. The author assumed that the identification of tools’ evolution gives clearer insights into circumstances of constant development of—by its nature—a more general concept. The tools’ classification resembles a phylogenic tree and is based on the idea of an affinity diagram. To provide the proof for such reasoning, the total quality management (TQM) concept was chosen. This proposition can be useful for better understanding origins and the development of management thought. It clarifies relationships among methods constituting frameworks of quality management.

Application of modern management concepts by Polish companies
Marek Lisiński, Władzimierz Sroka, Paweł Brzeziński, Adam Jabłonski, Joanna Stuglik, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Our article presents the results of research on the use of modern management concepts in companies from the so-called traditional sectors of the economy in Lesser Poland and Silesia Voivodeships. The study group consists of 125 companies operating in metallurgy- and steel-related sectors such as machinery, coke, mining and energy. Studies have confirmed that the companies surveyed utilise modern management concepts in their activities, although such utilisation is highly diverse (only one company pointed out that it does not utilise any such concepts). The most popular management concepts are controlling and outsourcing. In contrast, Balanced Scorecard and Business Process Reengineering belong to the group of rarely used strategies.

Place as overlap between the interests of regional geography and marketing
Kvetoslava Matlovičová, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The new challenges presented by a place have launched a marketing research initiative that integrates various marketing approaches requiring not only a wide variety of knowledge in humanities, social sciences, and business disciplines, but also comprehension of the entire complexity of its product – a place. The intricacy of its very essence and nature has probably been one of the reasons why no consensus exists so far on how to define the marketing of place. Here is the space for geography to which a place represents an object of research, and to which a place is also part of the method of how to perform such research. This paper is dedicated to discussion about the issues of applicability of the concept of place in territorial marketing that forms the contact zone between regional geography and marketing.

Constitutive modeling and computer methods in geotechnical engineering
Chandrakant Desai, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Computer methods are in the forefront of the procedures for analysis and design for geotechnical problems. Constitutive models that characterize the behavior of geologic materials and interfaces/joints play a vital role in the solutions obtained by using computer methods or any other solution procedure. The literature on both constitutive and computer models is wide; attention in this paper is devoted to the disturbed state concept (DSC) for constitutive modeling and the finite element method for computer solutions. The disturbed state concept, a unified and hierarchical approach, provides a unified framework for characterization of the behavior of geologic materials and interfaces/joints. Important factors such as elastic, plastic and creep responses, stress paths, volume change (contraction and dilation), disturbance (softening and damage or stiffening), thermal effects, partial saturation and liquefaction can be included in the same DSC framework. Because of its hierarchical nature, simplified models for specific applications can be derived from the DSC. It has been applied successfully for defining behavior of many geologic materials and interfaces/joints. Procedures for the determination of parameters for the DSC models based on laboratory tests have been developed. Various models from the DSC have been validated at the specimen level with respect to laboratory test data. They have been validated at the practical boundary value problem level by comparing observed behavior in the field and/or simulated problems in the laboratory with predictions using computer (finite element) procedures in which DSC has been implemented; these have been presented in various publications by Desai and coworkers, and are listed in the References. Three typical examples of such validations at the practical problem level are included in this paper. It is believed that the DSC can provide unified and powerful models for a wide range of geomechanical and other engineering materials, and interfaces/joints.
