1. Understanding cognitive transport mode choice structures : means-ends chains as a type of second-order cyberneticsTomaž Kolar, Iztok Kolar, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Purpose: This paper aims to inform the promotion of sustainable modes of transport. For this purpose, it deploys a means-ends framework as a type of second-order cybernetics and uses it to explore cognitive transport mode choice structures.
Design/methodology/approach: The empirical study relies on a purposive sample and a qualitative research methodology known as laddering. It is aimed at the identification and comparative analysis of the cognitive means-ends structures of transport users.
Findings: The results reveal more positive and complex associations for the car than for public transport. Two main positive means-ends structures are identified for public transport, one related with the relaxation and the other with doing useful things while travelling. Dominant positive structures for the car are related with self-confidence, satisfaction and personal freedom. Negative means-ends structures in addition reveal important justifications and rationalizations for car use.
Practical implications: Based on the identified distinct means-ends elements and structures, this study holds important implications for developing a communications strategy and policy interventions seeking to promote public transport.
Originality/value: Means-ends theory is proposed as an integrative cybernetic framework for the study of stakeholders' (customers') mental models. The empirical study is the first to concurrently and comparatively examine positive and negative means-ends chains for the car and for the public transport modes. 2. Data sharing concepts : a viable system model diagnosisIgor Perko, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Purpose Artificial intelligence (AI) reasoning is fuelled by high-quality, detailed behavioural data. These can usually be obtained by the biometrical sensors embedded in smart devices. The currently used data collecting approach, where data ownership and property rights are taken by the data scientists, designers of a device or a related application, delivers multiple ethical, sociological and governance concerns. In this paper, the author is opening a systemic examination of a data sharing concept in which data producers execute their data property rights. Design/methodology/approach Since data sharing concept delivers a substantially different alternative, it needs to be thoroughly examined from multiple perspectives, among them: the ethical, social and feasibility. At this stage, theoretical examination modes in the form of literature analysis and mental model development are being performed. Findings Data sharing concepts, framework, mechanisms and swift viability are examined. The author determined that data sharing could lead to virtuous data science by augmenting data producers' capacity to govern their data and regulators' capacity to interact in the process. Truly interdisciplinary research is proposed to follow up on this research. Research limitations/implications Since the research proposal is theoretical, the proposal may not provide direct applicative value but is largely focussed on fuelling the research directions. Practical implications For the researchers, data sharing concepts will provide an alternative approach and help resolve multiple ethical considerations related to the internet of things (IoT) data collecting approach. For the practitioners in data science, it will provide numerous new challenges, such as distributed data storing, distributed data analysis and intelligent data sharing protocols. Social implications Data sharing may post significant implications in research and development. Since ethical, legislative moral and trust-related issues are managed in the negotiation process, data can be shared freely, which in a practical sense expands the data pool for virtuous research in social sciences. Originality/value The paper opens new research directions of data sharing concepts and space for a new field of research. 3. HRM model in tourism, based on Dialectical systems theorySimona Šarotar Žižek, Sonja Treven, Matjaž Mulej, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: A human resources management (HRM) model integrating trends in HRM with trends in tourism into a dialectical system by the Dialectical Systems Theory (DST). HRM strategy, integrated within the tourism organization´s (TO´S) strategy is implemented through functional strategies helping their users to achieve a requisitely holistic (RH) HRM strategy replacing the prevailing one-sided ones. TO´S strategy covers: employees (1) planning, (2) acquisition and selection, (3) development and training, (4) diversity management, (5) teamwork and creativity, (6) motivation and rewarding, (7) stress reduction and health, (8) relationships, (9) personal holism, (10) well-being, (11) work and results assessment; etc. Everyone matters; their synergy is crucial. An innovated HRM model for TOs, which applies employees´, organizations´ RH and integrates new knowledge about HRM. HRM belongs to central managers´ tools. Their HRM must be adapted for TOs, where employees are crucial. 4. Standardization of business decision-makingVojko Potočan, 2000, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Enterprise as a business system (BS) assures its own existence and development by a high quality of its business. Its business results can be considerably improved, if the BS creates its system of the standard decision-making processes (DM), which provides for a high quality of business DM and its methodological uniformity in different BS's. Within the standardisation, we establish both a standardised research methodology and a standardisation of contents, and develop a system of standardised DM processes in the BS. We uniform the DM by both a holistic methodological and a partial contents standardisation. We define it on the basis of our holistic investigation into it, which includes the institutional, functional, and factors aspects. These factors are defined and distributed in the fields of DM and both the general and the special standard systems of DM factors are developed. We study the DM process thoroughly, while the acquired knowledge on the process is formalised and developed into a cybernetic model. A general system of DM and its corresponding model is created in order to provide for the requisite holism and complexity of DM, as well as the uniformity of its consideration. The selected problem is solved when we complete the standardisation of the DM, which includes the conception of the standard methodology, its application and the development of its standardised manner.
