Wine tourism as a type of well-being tourism – literature review
Jasna Potočnik Topler, Vita Petek, 2022, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of wine tourism on well-being. Wine tourism includes many activities, and not only wine tastings, perhaps paired with food tastings. It includes hiking and biking in the vineyards, reading literature on wine (fiction and non-fiction), attending seminars and conferences on wine, getting acquainted with new landscapes and socializing with others. Another issue relates to whether wine, particularly red wine, confers additional health benefits. Within the Mediterranean diet, wine seems to be an essential component. The starting point for wine and health studies was the “French Paradox”, which suggests that consuming red wine daily not only helps the cardiovascular system, but also increases lifespan due to the resveratrol found in the skins and tannins of red grapes. Recent evidence suggests that wine consumption is correlated with less stress and prevention of the development of certain cancers.

Cultural Tourism as a Tool for Sustainable Development of Rural Areas
2022, zbornik

Opis: The monograph represents one of the results of the joint University of Maribor and University of Montenegro research groups in the frame of the bilateral project BI-ME_21-22-020, partially funded by Slovenian Research Agency ARRS and Montenegrin Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. In 6 chapters, it addresses the problem of uneven tourism development, which could be reduced by further development of cultural tourism. Both, Slovenia nad Montenegro, have rich and diverse cultural heritage, which represents an important tourism resource. Research conclusions show that the key to the future successful development of sustainable tourism in both countries lies in the design and upgrading of cultural tourism experiences. The monograph combines a range of authors, disciplines, approaches and methods, thus, proving once again that tourism is a very rich and diverse interdisciplinary field.

Ranko Mirić, Nusret Drešković, Boris Avdić, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Many modern countries have significant problems with disparities in development between core and periphery. Municipality of Kupres in Bosnia and Herzegovina is one typical example of peripheral area, which is located within the sparsely populated region of Dinaric Karst Highland. However, its mainstream tourism offer is of seasonal character, and it is not sufficient for sustainable economic growth and significant progress in socio-economic sense. That is why tourism offer need to become more diversified. Methodology in this paper is focused on analysis of all potentials and motives that wider area of Kupres possesses, which can be valorized through systematic approach of institutions and local community. It is intended to emphasize a significance of geographical expertise in these kinds of problematic. Field research and GIS analysis are used for exploration of study area.

Cultural landscape and tourism on historic ranches of the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil
Ana Paula Correia de Araújo, Ana Maria de Bicalho, 2009, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: The rise of eco-tourism and rural tourism as new complementary activities which add value to traditional stock-raising functions on historic ranches located in the Pantanal Wetlands of Central-West Brazil is analyzed. Differently from other rural enterprises of the booming Central-West, which produce the majority of Brazilian export commodities, the specific environmental conditions of seasonal wetlands and perennial swamp of the Pantanal restrict the viable options for gaining access to global markets. Consequently, after 1990 ranchers of the Pantanal have developed tourist activities based on the spectacular natural beauty of the wetlands as well as the distinct ranching culture. The ranches have modernized with amenities to attract domestic and foreign tourists and tourism has assumed an importance source of their income.

Integration as a tool of destination management : the case of rural and rural fringe areas
Emil Juvan, Rok Ovsenik, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: It is well known that the organizational structure of the Slovenian tourism industry is changing. Tourist companies are merging, but unfortunately only a few companies empowered their capital structure and market position, so in a way we can talk about an oligopoly. The situation does not favor rural and rural fringe areas, where an underdeveloped tourism economy cannot represent a solid source of income for many tourist farms and other tourist companies. Integration is a scientifically and professionally proven method for empowering businesses. Integrative destination management, which provides the tool for tourist destinations development, aims at sustainable tourism where the community collectively develops and runs the tourism economy. This paper examines the possibilities for the development of business integration as a basis for the successful implementation of destination management in the Mislinja Valley. A survey has been conducted, where two thirds of the tourist companies in the area were investigated in relation to the destination management and tourism opportunities in the area. Analysis shows that the business environment accepts the idea of integration as a tool for empowering the regional tourism industry, however only interest integration appeares to be acceptable at this time.

A Multi-criteria assesment of tourist farm service quality
Črtomir Rozman, Majda Potočnik, Karmen Pažek, Andreja Borec, Darja Majkovič, Marko Bohanec, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Farm tourism is a significant means of supplementing farmer's incomes. This paper presents a methodology for ranking tourist farms by using a multi-criteria model based on the qualitative multi-criteria modeling methodology, DEX, to assess service quality. The software tool DEXi was used to achieve this end. The model was then applied to seven tourist farms with data derived from questionnaires completed by tourist farm operators and guests. The results are shown as service quality assessments for individual farms. The potential of the model for assessing the farms is demonstrated with the aim of providing a comprehensive explantation and justification of the assessment technique. It also indicates potential improvements that farms can make through "what-if" analysis and visualisation. Despite limitations, such as use of qualitative data only, the approach is proposed as being both appropriate and advantageous when compared with other means of ranking enterprises.
