Sleeping beauties in pediatrics

Opis: Sleeping beauties (SBs) in science have been known for few decades; however, it seems that only recently have they become popular. An SB is a publication that ‘‘sleeps’’ for a long time and then almost suddenly awakes and becomes highly cited. SBs present interesting findings in science. Pediatrics research literature has not yet been analyzed for their presence, and 5 pediatrics SBs were discovered in this research. Their prevalence was approximately 0.011%. Some environments or periods are more ‘‘SB fertile’’ than others: 3 of 5 SBs were published in the journal Pediatrics, 4 originated from the United States, and 4 were published in the period from 1992 to 1993. No institutions or authors published more than 1 SB.

ANALIZA OBJAV V ZADNJIH 5 LETIH V REVIJI JOURNAL OF CONSUMER RESEARCH

Opis: Revija Journal of consumer Research je ena najstarejših revij, ki združuje psihologijo in vedenje uporabnikov na trgu. Članki v reviji so namenjeni proučevanju odjemalcev ter kako oni dojemajo, sprejemajo in se vedejo na trgu. Prva revija je izšla leta 1974, v kateri je objavil svoj članek tudi eden prvih strokovnjakov na področju psihologije v marketingu, George Katona. V diplomski nalogi smo se pri analizi revije omejili na zadnjih pet let. Revija je izšla od junija 2004 do marca 2007 štirikrat na leto, in od 2007 leta do 2009 šestkrat, kar pomeni, da smo analizirali 24 revij. Bibliometrija je raziskovanje kvantitativnih vidikov produkcije in diseminacije uporabe zapisanih informacij. Z bibliometrijo pridobimo podatke o avtorjih na področju, ki ga raziskujemo. Prav tako pa dobimo vpogled o razvoju tem na tem področju, kar pomeni tudi razvoj določene znanosti. Članke smo analizirali glede števila člankov v eni izdaji, dolžine člankov, števila člankov z grafi. Prav tako smo naredili analizo avtorjev po spolu, ter na koncu analizirali prvi objavljen članek v prvem izvodu revije Journal of Consumer Research.

Development and validation of business process reengineering (BPR) variables: a survey research in Slovenian companies

Opis: Business Process Reengineering (BPR) literature is based primarily on case studies and there is a lack of rigorous wide-ranging empirical research covering all its aspects. This paper presents the results of a survey researchcarried out in 73 medium and large-sized Slovenian manufacturing companies. Seven crucial areas were identified based on a synthesis of BPR literature, which must be practised to achieve effective process reengineering: management commitment, education & training, team work, BPR project characteristics, employee cooperation, information technology support,and levers & results. Variables have been constructed within these areas, using Likert scales, and statistical validity and reliability analyses.These developed variables can be important both for understanding BPRand in terms of the descriptive statistics, also reported in this paper. What emerges is the crucial importance of process orientation, goal setting, and top management commitment. Furthermore, these variables can be helpful forfurther research aimed at investigating BPR and its linkages with other areas, such as strategy, performance measurement, etc.
