Remote working management skills for HR professionals : handbook for trainers

Opis: The handbook “Remote working management skills for HR professionals-HANDBOOK FOR TRAINERS” is related to online training for HR professionals. In the handbook, we present the curricular aspects of the training. The emphasis is on the following: list of skills for mangers; list of learning outcomes; list of learning contents; learning strategies and methods; learning materials; instructions for examination and grading; instructions for implementation. There are six learning modules in the list of learning contents: Communicational skills, Digital skills, Work-life balance, skills, Organizational skills, Leadership skills and HRM skills. For each learning module, we prepared the learning material: Case studies; Practical exercises; Questions and answeres; Multiple choice questions. The trainer also has available for each learning module: Power point presentations (5 files for each learning module); Lecture notes (10-15 pages for each learning module). Presentations and lecture notes are not included in this handbook. They are published separately.

Remote sensing data and their use in topoclimatic study

Opis: This work demonstrates the potential of using current digital satellite raster data to study a topoclimate. Also presented are digital vector data. All data have been provided by the Canadian Center for Remote Sensing in Ottawa within the scope of the solution for the project titled “Environmental Consequences of Local Climatic Effects” (A Case Study: British Columbia). The model region represents the southwest part of British Columbia located between Vancouver and the Okanagan basin. The most valuable components of a topoclimatic research are altimetric data assisting in the calculation of a DEM, multi-spectral images assigned to appropriate land cover categories, and thermal images. Subsequent integration of the DPZ and vector data provides a powerful tool for solving tasks leading to a topoclimate description, potential climatic effects and in wider implications even for studies of their impacts on the living environment.

Web based education tool for neural network robot control

Opis: This paper describes the application for teleoperations of the SCARA robot via the internet. The SCARA robot is used by students of mehatronics at the University of Maribor as a remote educational tool. The developed software consists of two parts i.e. the continuous neural network sliding mode controller (CNNSMC) and the graphical user interface (GUI). Application is based on two well-known commercially available software packages i.e. MATLAB/Simulink and LabVIEW. Matlab/Simulink and the DSP2 Library for Simulink are used for control algorithm development, simulation and executable code generation. While this code is executing on the DSP-2 Roby controller and through the analog and digital I/O lines drives the real process, LabVIEW virtual instrument (VI), running on the PC, is used as a user front end. LabVIEW VI provides the ability for on-line parameter tuning, signal monitoring, on-line analysis and via Remote Panels technology also teleoperation. The main advantage of a CNNSMC is the exploitation of its self-learning capability. When friction or an unexpected impediment occurs for example, the user of a remote application has no information about any changed robot dynamic and thus is unable to dispatch it manually. This is not a control problem anymore because, when a CNNSMC is used, any approximation of changed robot dynamic is estimated independently of the remote's user.

Control and robotics remote laboratory for engineering education

Opis: The new tools for education of engineering emerged and one of the most promising is a remote rapid control prototyping (RRCP), which is very useful also for control and robotics development in industry and in education. Examples of introductory remote control and simple robotic. courses with integrated hand, on experiments are presented in the paper. The aim o/: integration of remote hand on experiments into control and/or robotics course is to minimize the gap between the theory and practice to teach students the use of RRCP and to decrease the education costs. Developed RRCP experiments are based on MATLAB/Simulink, xPC target, custom developed embedded target for DSP-2 controller and LabVIEW virtual instrument.

Remote controlled laboratory as a modern form of engineering education

Opis: Technological development enables many benefits and improvements with regard to the educational process. This paper discusses the development of remote laboratory architecture for web-based programming and control of a passenger lift located at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Maribor (UM FME). A dedicated web page provides users with the opportunity to learn how to programme and control a programmable logic controller (PLC) from remote sites. Remote-controlled experiments involving additional visual support have similar learning effects compared to practical work in a laboratory, the difference being that students acquire additional technological knowledge in the latter. This paper presents, among other things, the details regarding the development of the respective laboratory for remote control of lift operation. In conclusion, the article critically examines the advantages and disadvantages of the here presented remote-controlled laboratory.

Robotizirano nameščanje ročk na akumulatorske baterije

Opis: V diplomski nalogi je opisan in prikazan potek modifikacije obstoječe linije, kjer na akumulatorske baterije namesto osebja namešča ročke robot. Prikazana je izvedba robotizirane celice od zamisli do realizacije po zahtevah investitorja. Predstavljeni so razlogi za robotizacijo linije, glavni cilji in težave, ki so se pojavile med samim izvajanjem projekta. Predstavljene in opisane so tudi posamezne mehanske, električne in pnevmatske komponente linije, njihove prednosti in slabosti ter razlogi za uporabo. Prikazan in opisan je del programa programirljivega logičnega krmilnika napisanega v lestvičnem diagramu, gre za programski jezik LAD. Programiranje je potekalo v Siemensovem programskem vmesniku TIA portal V13. Na koncu pa je prikazan potek izbire ustreznega robota in opis konfiguracije. Opisan je tudi potek programiranja po metodi off-line s programsko opremo OrangeEdit in KUKA Virtual Remote Pendant. Programiranje pa je potekalo tudi po metodi on-line, kjer sem robota naučil pozicij s pomočjo teachbox-a (SmartPAD).

Implementation, effectiveness and experience with remote laboratory in engineering education

Opis: Modern educational methods bring many new challenges from the pedagogical, as well as from the technical aspect. One of the more significant is the integration of information and communication technology into the educational process. These is particularly noticeable in the engineering education where the requests of the industry for a faster and more efficient acquisition of knowledge and practical skills lead to a constant search for new solutions in the learning process which would attract and motivate students, as well as be user friendly. This is especially difficult to be reached with the practical education which is usually composed of laboratory exercises that are bound to a specific time and place. One of the possible solutions are the remote laboratories which offer the possibility of the implementation of real remote laboratory experiments in the educational institutionsć laboratories and, therefore, enhance the studentsć knowledge and capability for dealing with some technical problems without the need for their physical presence in the laboratory. In the article, the example of a successful implementation of the remote laboratory in the field of engineering, developed and operating in the Moodle environment, is presented. The laboratory does not only represent the framework for the experiment implementation, but it also offers courses with complete documentation, therefore courses can be performed on distance. As an example, the case of the most widely used course from remote laboratory is presented, i.e., the ĆControl of nonlinear mechanismĆ course. Special attention is given to the description of the booking process for remote experiments, the execution of remote experiments and the applied user interface. The evaluation of the interface usability from the point of view of end users was performed via the acknowledged SUMI method. Additionally, another questionnaire was prepared in order to investigate the studentsć opinion about working in the remote laboratory. The results have shown that the presented remote laboratory is user friendly and accepted by both teachers and students as a suitable and interesting supplement to the conventional laboratory exercises.

Bilateral teleoperation by sliding mode control design approach

Opis: Sliding mode control has been used extensively in robotics to cope with parameters uncertainty, model perturbations and system disturbance. Bilateral robotic teleoperators are often required to provide a haptic interaction in telerobotic applications in which human kinesthetic sense is stimulated locally by remote environment. The paper deals with bilateral control for a force-reflection master-slave telerobotic architecture. It involves a short overview of basic bilateral modes. Chattering-free SMC design procedure for force-reflecting master-slave teleoperator is presented. The proposed bilateral control scheme was experimentally validated for a 1DOF master-slave teleoperator.

Improvement of the Peyravian-Jeffries`s user authentication protocol and password change protocol

Opis: Remote authentication of users supported by passwords is a broadly adopted method of authentication within insecure network environments. Such protocols typically rely on pre-established secure cryptographic keys or public key infrastructure. Recently, Peyravian and Jeffries [M. Peyravian, C. Jeffries, Secure remote user access over insecure networks, Computer Communications 29 (5-6) (2006) 660-667] proposed a protocol for secure remote user access over insecure networks. Shortly after the protocol was published Shim [K.A. Shim, Security flaws of remote user access over insecure networks, Computer Communications 30 (1) (2006) 117-121] and Munilla et al. [J. Munilla, A. Peinado, Off-line password-guessing attack to Peyravian-Jeffries`s remote user authentication protocol, Computer Communications 30 (1) (2006) 52-54] independently presented an off-line guessing attack on the protocol. Based on their findings we present an improved secure password-based protocol for remote user authentication, password change, and session key establishment over insecure networks, which is immune against the attack.
