The association between early regulatory problems and adult peer relationship quality is mediated by the brain's allostatic-interoceptive system
Saša Zorjan, Dieter Wolke, Nicole Baumann, Christian Sorg, Satja Mulej Bratec, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background: Early regulatory problems (RPs), i. e., problems with crying, sleeping, and/or feeding during the firstyears, increase the risk for avoidant personality traits in adulthood, associated with social withdrawal and anxiety. Even more, RPs are linked with functional alterations in the adult default mode and salience networks, comprisingthe brain’s allostatic-interoceptive system (AIS) and playing a role in social interactions. We investigated whether RPsassessed in infancy are associated with difficulties in adult peer relationships mediated by functional alterations of the AIS. Methods: As part of a large case-controlled prospective study, 42 adults with previous RPs and 70 matchedcontrols (mean age = 28.48, SD = 2.65, 51% male) underwent fMRI during rest. The analysis focused on the intrinsic functional connectivity (iFC) of key nodes of the AIS. Peer relationship quality was assessed via a semi-structured LifeCourse Interview and the YASR scale. In these same individuals, RPs were assessed at ages 5, 20 and 56 months. Results: RPs in infancy were associated with lower-quality peer relationships and enhanced functional connectivityof the AIS nodes in adulthood, with a stronger effect for multiple and persistent RPs compared withtransient-multiple or single-persistent RPs. Importantly, iFC changes of the dorsal mid insula, a primary interoceptive cortex with frontal and temporal regions, mediated the relationship between early RPs and adult peer relationship quality. Conclusions: Results indicate long-lasting social and neural changes associated with early RPs.Our findings further implicate the AIS in both interoceptive and social processes, while indicating the need for earlyscreening of early RPs. Keywords: Regulatory problems; allostatic interoceptive system; insula; peer relationships;crying; sleeping; feeding; Bavarian Longitudinal Study.

Literary works including children with special needs
Nika Vizjak Puškar, Dragica Haramija, 2023, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Owing to their inclusion in the education system, teachers often encounter students with special needs during their work. When working with these students, the teacher’s level of empathy is extremely important, however it is difficult to achieve if they are not familiar with how these students think and feel. One way of becoming acquainted with individuals with special needs is by becoming familiar with their thinking patterns, especially their emotional responses. The paper presents literary sources related to the topic, wherein the sources are evaluated, and the selected works are analysed. Besides the method of analysis (protagonists, supporting characters, literary space, literary time, subject, theme, motifs, narrator, structure, and plot), the descriptive method for presenting theoretical starting points and the method of synthesis in the conclusion are also used.

3.
Leader’s possession of linguistic intelligence in relation to leader–member exchange theory
Timotej Ribič, Miha Marič, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: When practicing high-quality leader–member exchange (LMX) theory, the leader’s ability to communicate, build and maintain relationships is a vital part. Because leader–member exchange theory is a relationship-based approach to leadership that primarily includes social exchange and communication on a daily basis, we can highlight linguistic intelligence as a key leadership skill that is part of the multiple intelligences defined by Howard Gardner. The goal of this article was to conduct research into organizations where the leader applies LMX theory and examine whether the leader’s linguistic intelligence is positively related to the quality of the leader–member exchange. The dependent variable was the quality of the LMX. We were able to recruit 39 employees and 13 leaders. Correlations and multiple regressions were used to analyze our statement. The overall results are statistically significant and we conclude that there is a high positive correlation between LMX and linguistic intelligence in the organizations that were part of this study. A limitation of this study is the use of purposive sampling, which resulted in a relatively small sample size and may limit the generalization of the results to other populations.

The direct and indirect relationships between design orientation and market orientation
Sanja Rocco, 2019, doktorska disertacija

Opis: The main purpose of this doctoral thesis is to investigate the relationship between design orientation and market orientation and propose a new conceptual model. Existing models were investigated. The initial conceptual model was proposed as the starting point. The research combined qualitative and quantitative methods. Quantitative research was conducted among managers and CEOs from Croatian companies in different industries. According to the final PLS-SEM model, design orientation has a direct and significant impact on market orientation and an indirect but significant impact on business success. Managerial approach has a direct and significant impact on design orientation, as well as on market orientation of a company. The new design orientation-market orientation model contributes to both marketing and design scholars, as well as implications for marketers, designers, and managers in practice. Our findings demonstrate that companies with higher level of market orientation and supported with design orientation also have the potential for achieving better results in the market and, consequently, better financial performance. It also provides the basis for future research on the topic.

The impact of nurses` emotional intelligence on effective nursing leadership: a narrative literature review
Patricija Lunežnik, 2019, diplomsko delo

Opis: Introduction: The interest of this diploma work was to find out, how emotional intelligence of nurses influences effective nursing leadership in order to improve patient care and working conditions for nurses. Methodology: A descriptive working method with a systematic approach of searching the literature was used. International databases CINAHL, MEDLINE, Web of Science, ASSIA and PsycINFO were searched, covering the period from January 2009 to April 2019. Prisma was used for reporting evidence in a narrative review. Articles were screened by title, abstract and full text. Results: 406 records were identified through the database search, 18 records were identified manually. After removing the duplicates, 350 records were identified and screened by title. 89 records were screened by abstract and 36 records by full text. Suitable articles (n = 15) were analysed according to the aim, methodology, sample and results. They were also evaluated regarding hierarchy of evidence and the narrative review was made. Discussion: We discovered that there is an important link between effective leadership and emotional intelligence. Good emotional intelligence reduces stress, promotes effective communication and improves performance. Developing high emotional intelligence may be the most important part of effective leadership, which is essential in nursing and critical for optimizing costs, access and quality of health care.

Information-communication technology (ICT) in our lives : the interplay of ICT and romantic relationships
Milan Pagon, Uroš Bizjak, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Relationships among different aspects of romantic relationship quality, the usage of information and communication technologies (ICT), characteristics of a relationship, demographics, and personality were examined on a sample of 407 students in the Republic of Slovenia. The findings suggest that the most important factor in determining the quality of a romantic relationship is companionship (joint activities of a romantic couple). Romantic couples who generally spent more time in joint activities also spent more time using ICT in maintaining their romantic relationship. The usage of ICT in a romantic relationship itself does not influence the quality of that relationship. The general usage of ICT, however, deteriorates the quality of the romantic relationship. Once we take into account the impact of companionship, personality variables do not provide any unique contributions to romantic relationship quality.

Impact of disturbing factors on cooperation in logistics outsourcing performance : the empirical model
Andreja Križman, Anton Ogorelc, 2010, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: The purpose of this paper is to present the research results of a study conducted in the Slovene logistics market of conflicts and opportunism as disturbing factors while examining their impact on cooperation in logistics outsourcing performance. Relationship variables are proposed that directly or indirectly affect logistics performance and conceptualize the hypotheses based on causal linkages for the constructs. On the basis of extant literature and new argumentations that are derived from in-depth interviews of logistics experts, including providers and customers, the measurement and structural models are empirically analyzed. Existing measurement scales for the constructs are slightly modified for this analysis. Purification testing and measurement for validity and reliability are performed. Multivariate statistical methods are utilized and hypotheses are tested. The results show that conflicts have a significantly negative impact on cooperation between customers and logistics service providers (LSPs), while opportunism does not play an important role in these relationships. The observed antecedents of logistics outsourcing performance in the model account for 58.4% of the variance of the goal achievement and 36.5% of the variance of the exceeded goal.
