1. How do specific conditions shape values of undergraduate early childhood education students in Slovenia?Marta Licardo, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The purpose of the study is to examine the early childhood education students’ values and what are the differences in the students’ values in specific conditions related to social environment. The values of undergraduate students who study early childhood education are very important for professional development and practice. The purpose of this study is to determine, if their values change during their study programme; which values are more important to the students; and what are the differences in the students’ values in terms of the type of study (full time/part time), years of study, age, work experience and work status. Results indicate that employed students have higher scores on other-centred values than unemployed students, older students express more others-centred values than younger students, while in self-centred values there are no age differences. Students who have more work experience express more others-centred values and students who study longer express more others-centred values than fresh students, while in self-centred values differences by years of study do not occur. These results reveal important changes in the hierarchy of values related to measured variables and interplay between various conditions. 3. Improving equality in the education system of TurkiyeMahmut Özer, Matjaž Perc, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Success breeds more success, the rich get richer, and the powerful get even more powerful. These are often true in human societies and describe the situation where whatever advantages one has in life frequently beget further advantages over time. The social sciences often describe this phenomenon as the Matthew effect of accumulated advantage, and it is known as preferential attachment in network science. The starting point of the process is often due to the first-mover advantage, under which the first person that achieves something will receive recognition and praise at a rate significantly higher than a person who achieves the same at a later point in time. All this boils down to the fact that unequal opportunities early on in education can translate into greater inequalities later in life. A major goal in the Turkish education system is therefore to ensure equal opportunities as well as equal quality of educational processes starting in preschool and beyond. This study explores the thought processed that have led to the implementation of procedures toward this goal, compares the current state in Turkiye with other OECD countries, and outlines future steps that are in the making for reaching targets throughout the educational system. 4. Preschool teaching staff 's opinions on the importance of preschool curricular fields of activities, art genres and visual arts fieldsTomaž Zupančič, Matjaž Mulej, Branka Čagran, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This article presents preschool teachers’ and assistant teachers’ opinions on the importance of selected fields of educational work in kindergartens. The article first highlights the importance of activities expressing artistic creativity within modern curriculums. Then, it presents an empirical study that examines the preschool teachers’ and assistant teachers’ opinions on the importance of the educational fields, art genres, and visual arts fields. In research hypotheses, we presumed that preschool teachers find individual educational fields, individual art genres, and individual visual arts activities to be of different importance; consequently, education in kindergarten does not achieve the requisite holism. The study is based on the descriptive and causal-non-experimental method. We have determined that the greatest importance is attributed to movement and language, followed by nature, society, art and mathematics. Within art genres, the greatest importance is attributed to visual arts and music and the least to audio-visual activities. Within visual arts, drawing and painting are considered to be the most important and sculpting the least. These findings can support future studies and deliberation on the possible effects on practice in terms of requisitely holistically planned preschool education. 5. Art appreciation for developing communication skills among preschool childrenMatjaž Duh, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In the contemporary process of teaching fine arts, children’s own creative expression and art appreciation are used to encourage learners towards both perception and reception; consequently, the evaluation and inter- nalization of works of art play an equally important role. In a qualitative empirical research study that takes the form of a case study, we studied the response of children to works of art and their demonstrated communica- tion skills in this. The results have shown that children respond to works of art on multiple levels. With non-standardized narrative group interviews, we observed children’s associations. Children perceived and internalized the given artworks and also put their emotions into words. The study has shown that systematic development of art appreciation among pre-school children can have a positive impact on their communication skills. 6. The development of four-year-old child's competences with the help of information-communication technologyJurka Lepičnik-Vodopivec, Pija Samec, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Nowadays it is very difficult to avoid the information-communication technology. It is present everywhere: in the business world, civil services, education, at home. The ability to search, choose and use relevant data and information among endless choices, offered by the modern technology, is also seen as a key competence. This article presents the influence which the ICT has on the development of four-year-old children's competences. The present issue is a part of an extensive study which also deals with children's access to the ICT and its usage at home. The data was gathered with the help of 130 parents, who filled out a questionnaire and provided us with their opinions about their children's usage of the ICT at home. We discovered that the ICT influences the development of certain competences to some extent. We also tried to see if there are any differences based on the child's gender and parents' level of education. 7. A hidden curriculum in kindergartens and empathy of preschool teachersJurka Lepičnik-Vodopivec, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The present article illustrates the problem of a hidden curriculum in kindergartens. It is presented as an important part of the overt curriculum. The empathy of kindergarten teachers is shown within the scope of a hidden curriculum. The second part discusses the results of the research on empathy of preschool teachers as an important element of the hidden curriculum in kindergartens. Four dimensions of empathy were identified: social self-confi dence, calmness, sensitivity and non-conformism. Each of these dimensions contributes on its own and together with the others to a better understanding of empathy of kindergarten teachers, which undoubtedly influences and encourages the development of emphatic communication among preschool teachers, children and parents. 8. Evaluation of the planned curriculum for kindergartens in the field of music educationOlga Denac, 2009, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: The problem of planning music education is related to the philosophical dimension of the development of the curricula for music education. Knowledge and understanding of the theoretical bases, goals and principles of the curriculum is the basis for the planning, realisation and evaluation of the educational process of music education. The present article presents the results of a study which included 159 pre-school teachers from all over Slovenia. The aim of the research was to establish the place and the role music education should have in the curriculum designed for kindergartens, and to recognise the difficulties pre-school teachers encounter as they execute individual principles of the curriculum in the process of operative planning of music education. The designed curriculum was analysed from the point of view of structure, activities, goals, contents, teaching strategies and instructional media. The results of the research show that music education hasbeen losing professional autonomy within the field of art and that the teachers only partially carry out individual principles of the curriculum in the planning of the educational process.
