Slow tourism in the post-Covid era : the case of Montenegro

Opis: This chapter explores slow tourism as a sustainable tourism concept with the potential for slow tourism offers in Montenegro. Namely, the post-Covid tourist faces an accelerated pace of life and often a stressful daily routine. They need relaxation and a vacation that cannot be found in the tourist offers containing lots of sightseeing tours in as short a time as possible. Accordingly, a new concept of travel has been developing in recent years, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic, one which promotes relaxation and "deep" exploration of the tourist destination - slow tourism. The slow tourist is usually not attracted to the established routes and ready tourist products. Instead, the focus is placed on traveling to the destination, using slow means of transportation, as well as on avoiding large hotels. Slow tourists are trying to get to know the local culture and establish contacts with the locals. Montenegro enables all that.

Designing a safe and inclusive housing environment for older adults : assessment of nursing home preparedness for post-COVID era

Opis: The main objective of the study is to verify whether architectural design elements afect mental and physical health from the perspective of nursing homes’ preparedness to face unpredictable situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which gave rise to the need of rethinking the design of nursing homes to provide quality living environments that enable older adults to live healthy, safe, and socially inclusive lives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, nursing homes were among the most critical types of housing. Various safety measures were taken to protect the physical health of residents, which, at the same time, had a negative impact on their mental health, mainly due to isolation and social distancing. The current study was carried out using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. A literature review, a detailed analysis of selected nursing homes, an online survey of nursing home managers, and on-site work served as the basis for the development of the comprehensive design quality assessment tool “Safe and Connected”, which was further tested on four selected case studies. The cases were selected on the basis of seven independent variables, i.e. nursing home capacity, residential density, foor area, the year of construction and typology, purpose-built construction regarding use and location, and one dependent variable, i.e. nursing home infection rate. The assessment results of the SC tool were verifed against two additional analyses: infection rate data and a resident quality of life survey. The results show the coincidence of the “Safe and Connected” design quality marks and rates of infected residents and quality of life survey results for the observed nursing homes. It can be concluded that the design of the residential environment is identifed as one of the possible factors infuencing the quality of life in nursing homes. Furthermore, understanding the architectural design elements involved in the perception of risks for, and well-being of, residents may be helpful for decision makers, managers, architects, and investors to make sensible decisions when planning and maintaining nursing home facilities in the post-COVID era.

The Phenomenon of (Sustainable) Tourism Activities on Farms in Slovenia During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Opis: The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic is the reason why the development trends of the tourism industry are changing today. The purpose of this article is to address issues of future tourism industry development, linking it to elements of sustainable development trends. The article presents the main elements of the sustainable concept of rural and farm tourism. Using the method of compilation and description, we want to check, based on statistical data related to farm tourism activities in Slovenia (before and during the COVID-19 pandemic), whether it is possible to detect development trends in Slovenia, in the direction of sustainability that are linked to the concept of farm tourism. This study also aims to identify a number of measures that can improve sustainability at the farming tourism level in Slovenia, in a post-COVID phase. According to the findings of numerous comparisons and statistical analysis, it can be stated that the future development trends show a great need to develop the decarbonisation of the industry, digitalisation of industry, and the involvement of the local population in the provision of services. In the present global situation, we have reached a point where it will be necessary to focus on sustainable and digital forms of the industry, in order to further post-COVID development of the tourism industry.

Recent advances in the development of automotive catalytic converters: a systematic review

Opis: Despite the current boost in the use of electric vehicles to reduce the automotive sector’s footprint, combustion vehicles are and will be present in our cities in both the immediate and long term. In this sense, catalytic converters, which are exhaust gas post-treatment systems for vehicle emission control, are critical for complying with increasingly stringent environmental regulations. This work proposes a systematic review to identify the most relevant knowledge regarding the parameters (materials, geometries, and engine conditions), conditions (cold start, oxygen storage, and deactivation), and mathematical models to consider in the design of catalytic converters. The Scopus database contains 283 records related to this review’s objective. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 65 reports were retrieved for evaluation. A table was created to present the results and prepare this manuscript. The evaluation revealed that the following topics were active: the study of non-noble catalyst materials, as well as new substrate materials and geometries, for designing more compact and cost-effective catalytic converters; the development of strategies to improve conversion during cold starts; and the development of accurate and fast estimation models.

Post COVID logistics, strategies and actions need to be taken : evidence from small and medium scale food and beverages manufacturing sector

Opis: Food is required for both humans and animals, however during the covid-19 era, many small and medium-sized food enterprises are struggling to produce and transport food, and others are on the verge of closing down. Now is the moment to build a future strategy and action plan for the small and medium-sized food industry to mitigate the economic effects of the COVID-19 outbreak. This study's objective is to identify probable tactics, policies, and action plans and evaluate their efficacy and acceptability. This study also explores and quantifies the post-COVID effects of Covid-19 on Bangladesh's Small and Medium-Scale Food Industries. Using a non-probability sample technique, three types of self-administered questionnaires were utilized to gather data from the owner, factory in-charge, manager, and CEO of the Food and Beverage Manufacturing sector. Using SPSS software V.25, descriptive analysis was performed to display frequencies, %ages, and mean scores, while one-sample t-test was utilized to compare the value (mean) of the viewpoints (strategies & action plans) with the supplied value (test value). Results indicate that the probable strategies and action plans (14 strategies) that need to be implemented by the government is high and acceptable and that the effectiveness of other probable strategies and action plans (5 strategies) that need to be implemented by food and beverage manufacturers may also acceptable and could apply to the post-covid situation.

Kriptografija v svetu kvantnih računalnikov : diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Informacijska varnost

Opis: Namen te diplomske naloge je raziskati vpliv kvantnih računalnikov na kriptografijo in razvoj post-kvantne kriptografije. V diplomski nalogi širši javnosti predstavimo koncept kriptografije in kvantnih računalnikov ter identificiramo problem, ki ga kvantni računalniki predstavljajo trenutnim kriptografskim algoritmom, kateri so podlaga za celotno informacijsko varnost. Diplomska naloga opisuje osnovna načela kriptografije in kvantne mehanike. Poglablja se v široko uporabljene kriptografske algoritme ter razvoj in delovanje kvantnih računalnikov. Raziskuje tudi izzive, ki jih predstavljajo kvantni računalniki na področju kriptografije in njihovo zmožnost razreševanja trenutno najbolj uporabljenih kriptografskih algoritmov. Kot posledica tega pa predstavi post-kvantno kriptografijo in nekatere trenutne post-kvantne kriptografske algoritme. Na koncu pa analizira in pregleduje vlogo inštitucij in njihovih prizadevanj pri napredku post-kvantne kriptografije in kvantnega računalništva na svetovni, Evropski in Slovenski ravni.

Idejna zasnova kulturno - edukativnega centra v Podgorici : master thesis

Opis: Cilj magistrskega dela je obravnavati temo razvoja kulturnega in izobraževalnega programa v Podgorici skozi razvoj pomembne topografske enote – gričevja v strogem središču mesta. Teme ni mogoče umestiti v določeni časovni okvir, ker se v njem izgubi. Vizija razvoja središča črnogorske prestolnice je bila rezultat kakovostnega premisleka in prepoznavnosti prostora, prekinila pa jo je hitrost razvoja prehoda, burne zgodovine in pohlepa. Ideja, na kateri temelji magistrsko delo, nima bližnje prihodnosti, ima pa močno preteklost in zgodovino. Težišče dela je na ponovnem povezovanju in oživljanju območja skozi deficitarne programe. Predmet raziskave je lokacija stadiona »Budućnosti« ob vznožju Gorice. Projekt Kulturno-izobraževalni center predstavlja odgovor in nadaljevanje izohips hribovja, obstoječih grajenih objektov in programa v neposredni okolici. Vzpostavitev prostorskih vizij, zelenih pasov in poti za pešce povezuje središče mesta z njegovim najpomembnejšim naravnogeografskim elementom, zelenim gričem in največjim mestnim parkom. Projekt je zasnovan kot mreža, skozi katero prehajajo obiskovalci kot filter kulture na vseh ravneh. Ključni poudarek je na kulturnem razvoju prebivalcev, ki naj bo brez ovir, pregleden in enako dostopen vsem, pričakuje pa se, da bo postal sestavni del njihovega »sprehoda« in potovanja skozi mesto. Delo predstavlja iskanje drobcev utopije in poskus njihove umestitve v okvire in potrebe sedanjosti. To iskanje je politično in kulturno dejanje, osvobojeno vseh meja, ki obstajajo v resničnem svetu in jih vsiljuje kapital. Politično je zato, ker predstavlja jasno sliko vpliva sedanjega načina delovanja sistema, kulturno pa, ker vodi v prevpraševanje potenciala in načina prihodnjega delovanja kulture.

Medijska pismenost mladih v odnosu do post digitalnega sveta : magistrsko delo

Opis: V magistrskem delu smo proučevali medijsko pismenost generacije Z v odnosu do post digitalne družbe. Gre za osebe, ki so odraščale s tehnologijo, ki je temelj post digitalne družbe. V empiričnem delu smo izvedli anketo, s katero smo preučevali, ali spol in starost vplivata na zaznano stopnjo medijske pismenosti. Zanimalo nas je tudi, ali čas, ki ga uporabnik dnevno preživi na družbenih omrežjih, vpliva na zaznano stopnjo medijske pismenosti. Merili smo še, ali sovrstniki vplivajo na uporabnikovo samoocenjeno stopnjo pismenosti umetne inteligence. Rezultati so pokazali, da imajo ženske višjo stopnjo zaznane medijske pismenosti v primerjavi z moškimi. Pokazalo se je tudi, da starost uporabnika vpliva na njegovo pripravljenost dojemanja tehnologije umetne inteligence. Rezultati magistrske naloge lahko služijo kot izhodišče za prihodnje raziskave in pri pripravi indikatorjev pismenosti umetne inteligence

Sistem sledenja granulata od zalogovnika do brizgalnega stroja : diplomsko delo

Opis: V diplomski nalogi je popisan celoten sistem, ki z materialom oskrbuje brizgalni stroj. Simuliran je tok zraka in materiala skozi sistem s programom ANSYS Fluent. Narejena je morfološka matrika in s pomočjo le-te izbrana najprimernejša rešitev za ugotovitev, kdaj sveža serija materiala doseže brizgalni stroj. Rezultati so prikazani v programu CFD Post, v obliki histogramov in slik.

Rabati v konkurenčnem pravu: vpliv novejše sodne prakse na presojo rabatov kot zlorab prevladujočega položaja

Opis: Magistrska naloga obravnava vpliv novejše sodne prakse, zlasti zadeve Intel proti Komisiji, na presojo rabatov v konkurenčnem pravu. V starejši sodni praksi so zvestobni rabati in rabati tretje kategorije, obravnavani kot per se zlorabe. To pomeni, da se o njihovem protikonkurenčnem učinku sklepa na podlagi njihove oblike in ne na podlagi ekonomske analize njihovega konkretnega vpliva na konkurenco na upoštevnem trgu. Komisija je z Navodili glede ocene izključevalnih zlorab (v nadaljevanju: Navodila Komisije) odstopila od per se pristopa in delitve rabatov glede na njihovo obliko ter uvedla pristop, ki temelji na ekonomskih merilih, predvsem na testu enako učinkovitega konkurenta. Per se pristop iz starejše sodne prakse je že nakazoval določene podobnosti med obravnavo zvestobnih rabatov in rabatov tretje kategorije z obravnavo omejevalnih sporazumov, ki izkrivljajo konkurenco »po cilju« v smislu člena 101 PDEU. V zadevi Intel proti Komisiji pa je Sodišče EU dokončno dopolnilo per se pristop tako, da je rabate popolnoma približalo zlorabam »po cilju«, kot jih določa člen 101 PDEU. Skladno s tem pa je tudi posredno »odprlo vrata« presoji rabatnih shem, kot jo določa Komisija v Navodilih Komisije. Podjetje bo lahko namreč predočilo dokaze, da ravnanje ni zmožno omejevati konkurence in zlasti imeti očitanih učinkov izrinjenja. Če podjetje predloži takšne dokaze, lahko izpodbije stališče Komisije, da rabati predstavljajo zlorabo »po cilju«. Kadar podjetje uspe izpodbiti stališče Komisije, da zadevna rabatna shema sodi med zlorabe »po cilju«, mora Komisija preučiti dejanske ali potencialne učinke take sheme na izključitev enako učinkovitih konkurentov s trga. V tem primeru se morajo rabati presojati kot zlorabe »po učinku« na podlagi »pravila utemeljenosti«. V okviru tega pravila morajo konkurenčni organi presoditi moč prevladujočega položaja podjetja na upoštevnem trgu, stopnjo pokritosti trga z očitanim ravnanjem, pogoje in okoliščine odobritve zadevnih rabatov, njihovo trajanje in njihov znesek ter presoditi morebiten obstoj strategije, katere namen je izriniti konkurente, ki so vsaj enako učinkoviti. S tem je Sodišče EU v zadevi Intel proti Komisiji potrdilo pristop Komisije k rabatom, izoblikovanim v Navodilih Komisije.
