31. Between cultural and natural heritage : pluralism in planning tourism products for rescuingRichard Ingwe, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The planning of tourism products in the north-central Cross River State (corresponding to ‘old Ogoja province) is examined in this study. Explained in the article are: justification of the need for undertaking community-based tourism development strategy as a means of reducing inter- regional disparity in development aroused by historical discrimination against the region through eras of Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, colonialism, and successive post-independent governments; creation of special development funds aimed at addressing challenges posed by personalization of government thereby creating governance deficits; and descriptions of the tourism potentials/resources of the north-central Cross River State. Rather than adopting the advice of tourism experts in the 1960s that African countries ought to prefer to design cultural-heritage tourism products aiming towards attracting some 145 million tourists from the United States of America (USA) who might be satiated with natural heritage tourism products offered back home. Here, it is argued here that considering myriad socio-economic-political dynamics thereafter – including anti-African/Nigerian political measures such as barring US citizens from visiting Nigeria or parts of it- there is no need concentrating on such restricted tourism products. This is justified by the fact that with nearly 170 million population –most of whom are expecting to move from poverty towards the middle class among other prosperous economic statuses and who do not need to immediately access foreign natural heritage tourism, there is need for north- central Cross River State –a region possessing diverse tourism resources to plan tourism products that seek to integrate natural heritage with the cultural varieties in order to properly capture both local and foreign tourists. Foreign tourists here covers a larger spectrum beyond US visitors including visitors from large and increasing number of member states of the United Nations. 32. Hungarian challenges of housing block regeneration : a case study of Uránváros, city of PécsAndrás Trócsányi, Kristóf Orbán, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: As post-socialist suburbanisation is about to decline, and the buildings of cities start to age rapidly, more and more attention is focused on city rehabilitation in East-Central Europe as well, which will probably be continued in the near future by the rehabilitation of early housing estates. Through an example, the current study shows the challenges such an action faces. Based on the comparison of demands with scenarios that were drawn up from data bases originating from a diverse methodology, it appears that the most reasonable idea would be to generally apply the basic principles of diversification and selecto-concentration, but the uniqueness of individual housing blocks requires that planning is done on an individual basis. 33. Fighting for survival - planning and development issues in two European rural border mid-mountain regionsAlexis Sancho Reinoso, 2010, pregledni znanstveni članek Opis: The main aim of this article (the paper is included in the context of a research project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology – code: SEJ-2006-15331-C02-02) is to further our understanding of two mountain rural areas occupying two distinct geographical environments: the Spanish Pyrenees and the Austrian Alps. I am particularly interested in examining the management practices that have been adopted as part of the public policies implemented in two mid-mountain regions - areas that do not have the same possibilities for development as those enjoyed by high-mountain environments. These places suffer structural problems resulting from low levels of agricultural competitiveness, accompanied by factors that impinge negatively on land use (which, in turn, condition their landscape management practices). Finally, I reflect on the differences between the two regions and their future possibilities. 35. The impact of managers on successful ERP implementationFranc Ravnikar, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Lately, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has been implemented in public organizations and organizations without competition in the marketplace. It is the ERP system that is almost as badly needed for the competitiveness and success of those organizations in the marketplace. The main reason lies in the fact that operating costs have to be reduced and the optimization of business processes is an option which nowadays is normally implemented together with new ERP. The success rate of ERP implementation remains very low with up to a 90% failure rate, as it is quoted in a lot of researches. Critical success factors (CSF) which influence successful ERP implementation are identical in all organizations. The main goal of this research is to find out the managers' impact on the critical success factors and thus their impact on the successful ERP implementation. Top management support is the most important critical success factor for successful ERP implementation, regardless of the fact whether the organization is on the market or not. 36. Career planning as a building block of personal excellenceMarija Turnšek Mikačić, Marija Ovsenik, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The narrow field of research here is the development of a model for the building of personal excellence using a career plan that is empirically tested and confirmed, both qualitatively and quantitatively. The purpose of this study relates to the writing of a career plan, for the determination of the factors that influence the feeling of personal excellence of participants in career planning education, in relation to other participants who are not. The qualitative analysis consists of basic experience data that was collected during the education process, through 20 essays, and the paradigmatic model, with the final theory defined, and based on this, a questionnaire was created. The quantitative analysis involved a total of 547 participants. For the statistical analyses of the data, bivariate analysis was used to assess the linear connection of individual pairs of variables. The search for differences between the two groups used t-tests for independent samples. Factor analysis was used to determine whether the relations among the examined variables can be explained with a smaller number of indirectly examined variables. The final model consists of three elements: (1) relation with career; (2) self-esteem; and (3) perception of personal excellence. Management can use the results of this study for management decisions. The increased success of every individual organisation benefits the whole of society. This study represents an original contribution and offers a new approach that is based on the paradigm of the understanding of a career and the importance of its planning as a motive for excellence. 37. Simulating various terrestrial and UAV LiDAR scanning configurations for understory forest structure modellingMarina Hämmerle, Niko Lukač, K.-C. Chen, Zsófia Koma, C.-K. Wang, K. Anders, B. Höfle, 2017, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Information about the 3D structure of understory vegetation is of high relevance in forestry research and management (e.g., for complete biomass estimations). However, it has been hardly investigated systematically with state-of-the-art methods such as static terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) or laser scanning from unmanned aerial vehicle platforms (ULS). A prominent challenge for scanning forests is posed by occlusion, calling for proper TLS scan position or ULS flight line configurations in order to achieve an accurate representation of understory vegetation. The aim of our study is to examine the effect of TLS or ULS scanning strategies on (1) the height of individual understory trees and (2) understory canopy height raster models. We simulate full-waveform TLS and ULS point clouds of a virtual forest plot captured from various combinations of max. 12 TLS scan positions or 3 ULS flight lines. The accuracy of the respective datasets is evaluated with reference values given by the virtually scanned 3D triangle mesh tree models. TLS tree height underestimations range up to 1.84 m (15.30 % of tree height) for single TLS scan positions, but combining three scan positions reduces the underestimation to maximum 0.31 m (2.41 %). Combining ULS flight lines also results in improved tree height representation, with a maximum underestimation of 0.24 m (2.15 %). The presented simulation approach offers a complementary source of information for efficient planning of field campaigns aiming at understory vegetation modelling. 38. Homecare service providers as an organizational form of support for the elderly : establishment and planning of optimal capacityPolona Šprajc, Iztok Podbregar, Alenka Brezavšček, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and Purpose: Different studies have highlighted health care allocation problems in Slovenia that indicate the increased need for homecare services for the elderly. It was also found that Slovenian municipalities differ dramatically in the availability of elder care services. A number of older people with diverse unmet needs for care remains. Therefore, the need for the establishment of an additional type of formal homecare services for the elderly exists.
Design/Methodology/Approach: Although many positive effects of home elder care against institutional care are stressed in the literature, the results of many studies performed in recent years have indicated that accessibility of homecare for elderly in Slovenia remains scarce, and it is not equally accessible throughout the country. To mitigate this problem, a new organizational form called “elder homecare service provider” is indicated. The aim of the provider is to offer a variety of different services for the elderly (e.g. homemaking, social networking, transfer services, basic life needs, basic health services, etc.). The establishment of such an organization needs to be designed carefuly, while the unique characteristics and specific needs of the target population must be addressed to optimize desired outcomes.
Results: The aim of the paper is to provide fundamental guidelines for the establishment of elder homecare service provider. All essential characteristics of such an organization are defined. To ensure an appropriate level of service quality, the primary focus is oriented towards the planning of personnel team capacity. For this purpose, the service provider was described using the stochastic queueing model, which enables service capacity optimization considering different performance measures. The usefulness of the model was illustrated with a numerical example, which has shown that the results obtained provide valuable information for decision support.
Conclusion: The establishment of a homecare service provider network would have many positive effects on society in general. The quality of the everyday life of the elderly is expected to be improved considerably, particularly in the rural areas where a lack of institutional care support is reported. Guidelines proposed in the paper together with the quantitave model for planning of its optimal capacity provide useful information, which are especially relevant in the preliminary phase of the establishment of service providers. 40. The effects of career planning educationMarija Turnšek Mikačić, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Research Question (RQ): We employed a qualitative approach to study the effects of career planning education, perceiving it as an effective way to gain a deeper understanding of introductorily-organised career education.
Purpose: We researched important areas to formulate a questionnaire for quantitative analysis.
Method: We used a qualitative research approach in order to develop a theoretical framework for the exploration, interpretation and identification of the impact of education on career plans, on the changing attitudes towards careers, the raising of self-esteem and perception of personal growth. We used Neuro-linguistic programming as a tool to develop and achieve personal excellence within the career planning.
Results: We constructed a paradigmatic model and developed the final theory. By means of qualitative analysis, we identified the elements of design criteria for the construction of the questionnaire; we measured the effects of education on career plans.
Organization: The findings of the research will prove useful in personal management and career management in the process of planning and organizing the promotion of individuals within the organizations in accordance with the needs of those organizations.
Originality: A career plan as a building block of personal growth, based on the model of career education with the in-built elements and tools of NLP, has been confirmed by the most recent studies in neuroscience. This represents a novelty, and, therefore, this study offers a genuine contribution, and is an indicator of contemporary knowledge, based on the results of the research.
Limitations/Future Research: The model of career education and the results of this study open new directions for further research of the influence of career planning on the organisation of companies and their success, which is the phase of the study which was not carried out. Ključne besede: career planning, qualitative analysis, neuro-linguistic programming, personal excellence Objavljeno v DKUM: 02.08.2017; Ogledov: 1362; Prenosov: 110
