1. Navigating success : how decision–making transforms software performance into business performance in the logistics industry from an emerging countryBukra Doganer Duman, Gültekin Altuntaş, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background/Purpose: This study investigates the mediating role of decision–making performance in the link between software performance and overall business performance in the logistics sector of an emerging economy. As logistics companies increasingly rely on digital infrastructures, understanding how advanced systems contribute to strategic outcomes is critical for sustaining competitiveness. Methods: A conceptual framework was developed integrating ERP systems, big data analytics, and IoT applications. In this model, software performance is positioned as the independent variable, decision–making performance as the mediator, and business performance as the dependent variable. Data were collected from medium- and large–scale logistics firms and analyzed using regression and bootstrapping methods through SPSS and the PROCESS Macro. Results: The findings reveal that software performance significantly improves decision–making performance (β = 0.552, p < 0.01), which in turn has a strong positive effect on business performance (β = 0.817, p < 0.01). The mediation analysis confirms that decision–making performance mediates the effect of software performance on business outcomes. Conclusion: The results highlight the strategic importance of aligning digital capabilities with organizational decision processes. By demonstrating the mediating role of decision–making, the study highlights that the effective use of advanced analytical tools is crucial for optimizing performance and achieving a sustainable competitive advantage in logistics. 3. The impact of ESG on business performance : anǂempirical analysis of NASDAQ–NYSE-Listed companiesAljaž Herman, Žan Oplotnik, Timotej Jagrič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study investigates the relationship between ESG ratings and a firm’s financial performance, focusing on Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE). Using a combination of stepwise linear regression and feedforward neural networks (FFNN), we assess both the linear and nonlinear effects of ESG on financial performance. The regression models identify ESG as a significant, positively correlated factor in explaining financial performance, alongside firm demographics, sector affiliation, and financial indicators. Neural networks reveal nonlinear dynamics, particularly for ROA, suggesting threshold effects in the ESG–performance relationship. Sensitivity analysis confirms that ESG’s influence strengthens at higher values. Our findings highlight that ESG is not only statistically relevant but also interacts with firm characteristics in complex ways. These results contribute to the ongoing discourse on sustainable finance by showing that ESG can be a meaningful driver of financial outcomes, especially when modeled through nonlinear approaches. 4. ''My daughter would say I am a superwoman'' : performances of women's success in Slovenian tourism and hospitalityHana Kuhar, Andreja Trdina, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article examines media portrayals of prominent female managers in Slovenian tourism and hospitality to analyse their success narratives and the underlying ideas shaping their social positions. Using post-feminism (McRobbie, 2004; Banet-Weiser et al., 2020) as a theoretical framework, it explores how gender myths and neoliberal individualism combine to justify female achievement. The study employs the performativity approach (Goffman, 1959; Butler, 1988) to investigate how women navigate and reproduce existing gender and class narratives in their media performances. Media interviews with successful Slovenian female managers in the tourism and hospitality sector were analysed to reveal how gender and class discourses intersect in their self-presentations. The identified self-performing strategies include a) the myth of meritocracy, bolstered by the gendered discourse of greater renunciation, b) the dialectic between references to women’s solidarity and the emphasis on individualism, and c) the portrayal of feminine care and empathy alongside a display of strict discipline and determination. Against the background of the intimate relationship among neoliberal ideology, postfeminism, and media culture, future policies fostering gender equality in the tourism industry should address practices aimed at bridging unequal opportunities and the materiality of language. 8. Relationship between environmental reports and environmental performance : a case of the processing industry in the Republic of SloveniaSonja Fink Babič, Roberto Biloslavo, Borut Kodrič, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background/Purpose: Environmental protection issues faced by companies constitute a challenging research topic. The main objective of the study was to research if companies’ environmental performance relates to the quality of information contained in the environmental reports. Methods: In order to assess the environmental performance of companies involved we develop the Environmental Performance Index based on the Slovenian Environment Agency’s data on emissions in air, water and waste. We measured the correlation between the Environmental Performance Index and quality of environmental reporting using Spearman’s correlation coefficient. Results and Conclusion: The results of our analyses revealed that there is no significant correlation between companies’ environmental performance and the quality of their environmental reporting. However, the reasons for the obtained result can be at least partially attributed to the low quality level of analysed environmental reports. This is a reason why the calculated correlation is not as tangible as it would be if company reports would provide more information and therefore more data for analysis. Our findings suggest that voluntary environmental reporting should be complemented by legally defined mandatory elements for such reporting.
