Interdisciplinary approach in primary education : animated films as a tool for cross-cultural awareness

Opis: The paper presents results from a study exploring the effectiveness of animated films in primary education for enhancing cross-cultural awareness. The study examined how animated films can broaden young learners’ perspectives on diverse cultural practices, values, and traditions, and identified factors that affect information processing in complex, cross-cultural contexts. Using triangulation, data were gathered and analysed from twenty primary students (ages 8-11). The study employed Tobii Pro Glasses 3 for eye-tracking, supplemented by a questionnaire to support the eye-tracking findings. Analysis revealed that integrating culture-specific concepts from animated films can effectively enhance cross-cultural awareness in interdisciplinary education.

Systematic risk management practices and improved risk culture in Slovenian non-financial corporations : a SEM Approach

Opis: There is limited empirical evidence on how the risk management process is implemented in non-financial corporations, resulting in an incomplete understanding—particularly in post-transitional economies such as Slovenia. Using Structural Equation Modeling on data collected from Slovenian non-financial corporations in 2023, we find that a well-structured risk management process positively influences the adoption of advanced risk management methods and practices. This, in turn, significantly reduces challenges associated with risk management, enhances its overall effectiveness, and directly contributes to corporate value creation. These findings highlight the strategic importance of risk management as an essential component of organizational governance.

Climate change and air pollution : the twin threats to children’s health and well-being

Opis: Environmental factors, such as air pollution and climate change, significantly contribute to the global burden of disease and are critical to understanding health disparities between countries, with low- and middle-income nations facing the highest environmental health burdens across various diseases and injuries. While health is universally acknowledged as both a fundamental human need and a basic human right, yet the harmful effects of unhealthy environments disproportionately impact children. Research indicates that pre- and post-natal exposures to environmental toxicants can disrupt brain and lung development, impairing their function. These health impacts are distributed unequally, with marginalised populations experiencing greater harm. The IPCC identifies fossil fuel combustion as the primary driver of climate change. Epidemiological studies further highlight the existing and future consequences of climate change, including its effects on infectious diseases, cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases, and mental well-being.

Effects of corporate purpose on organizational innovation : an explanatory mixed-methods analysis

Opis: Purpose: The current study has two primary goals: first, to examine the influence of corporate purpose on organizational innovation and second, to analyze the sequential mediation effect of both a people-centric approach and infrastructure between corporate purpose and organizational innovation. Design/Methodology: A sequential explanatory mixed-method design was used in this study. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and PROCESS macro were applied based on 188 online questionnaires completed by employees of a leading Portuguese publishing company, followed by a thematic analysis of 37 structured interviews. Results: The quantitative findings indicate that corporate purpose has a positive impact on organizational innovation and that both the people-centric approach and organizational infrastructure serve as significant mediators in the relationship between corporate purpose and organizational innovation. Moreover, the people-centric approach and organizational infrastructure sequentially mediate the relationship between corporate purpose and organizational innovation. The qualitative data corroborate and deepen these findings, revealing the crucial role of a people-centric approach and organizational infrastructure as mediators in corporate purpose to cope with organizational innovation. Conclusions: Our study provides theoretical and practical implications for practitioners, researchers, and business leaders to better understand the relationship between these concepts and opportunities for further research.

Implementation of a contextual teaching approach in primary school education

Opis: Theoretical discussions and results of empirical research on the contextual approach to teaching and learning point to its effectiveness in realising numerous learning outcomes. The theoretical part of the paper presents the theoretical foundations of the contextual teaching and learning approach, with a focus on constructivist learning theory. The empirical part of the paper presents the results of a study on the implementation of the contextual teaching and learning approach in primary school education from the teachers` perspective. The results indicate that teachers apply the principles of the contextual teaching and learning approach relatively rarely in the teaching process.

Experiential education - an opportunity for compensatory education

Opis: The article describes a project about ‘experiential education’ at a school in Germany. The main educational objective is to offer an alternative way of teaching pupils who show destructive and aggressive behaviour. After a critical analysis of the concept of experiential education with regard to its educational relevance, the conceptual design and implementation of the project is presented. The experiences gained through participant observation and interviews can be interpreted in such a way that pupils with behavioural problems can gain a new, different access to themselves through special movement- and social-related activities, an outcome which has positive effects on social behaviour in the class and school climate in general and working behaviour in subject lessons specifically.

A hybrid multi-criteria and creative, problemsolving approach, for measuring local values of information technology products

Opis: This study examines the relationship between digital transformation and sustainable practices within enterprises against the backdrop of global transformative forces framed within the holistic paradigm of systems thinking. It examines the extent to which digital advances either facilitate or impede the sustainable development of companies, while also considering the systemic impact of demographic variables (such as gender, age, education), national income levels, and geographical regions on business sustainability. Using data from the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM), which encompasses 26,790 entrepreneurs in 47 countries, this research uses multinomial regression to assess how these factors influence companies’ commitment to social and environmental goals. A key finding is that the strategic use of digital technologies in sales processes significantly increases the likelihood that entrepreneurs will integrate social and environmental considerations into their decision-making. Notably, this conscientious approach to business is most prevalent among entrepreneurs in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our findings underscore the central role of digital technologies in driving sustainable business transformation while also highlighting the significant influence of regional socio-environmental contexts on business sustainability orientations.

Why become a PE teacher? : motivation, selfconcept and implications for teacher education

Opis: Career choice can be seen as a complex decision-making process. Individual interests and goals, subjective assessment of abilities, as well as external requirements and circumstances play important roles. The PE teacher profession is often seen as a fun profession, without special requirements or burdens - an opportunity to turn a hobby into a profession. PE teacher candidates are confronted with the question of why they want to become PE teachers. The results of the survey highlight the importance of "biographical competence", which must be seen as an important argument for increased attention to the development of the professional self in the PE teacher training program.

The cognitive aspect of interactive learning and teaching in visual arts education

Opis: The task of contemporary visual arts education is to enable quality interaction among all subjects of the teaching process, through which the students are encouraged to think, imagine, and develop higherorder cognitive activities. The objective of this empirical research study was to verify the differences in the results of students in the control and experimental groups (n=285) regarding their knowledge and understanding of visual arts content. Analysis of the results shows that the students in EG showed significantly better results compared to the students in CG, which means that the interactive model of learning and teaching positively influenced the students' understanding of visual arts content

The frequency with which creativity development strategies are used in various fields : research on attitudes among preschool teachers

Opis: The aim of the paper was to examine the attitudes of preschool teachers towards strategies for creative thinking. We also examined how often these strategies were used in everyday work with children. Specific aims were to gain insight into the differences between preschool teachers, depending on the age groups of the children with whom they work, and depending on the length of their work experience. Another aim was to examine whether these strategies were directed towards the development of creative behavior in various educational fields. The results of this research can be expected to contribute to the creation of better conditions for more frequent application of creativity development strategies in a variety of domains and an increase in the sensitivity of preschool teachers for the understanding and promotion of a holistic approach to creativity at an early age.
