1. Sensitivity analysis of MTPA control to angle errors for synchronous reluctance machinesMartin Petrun, Jernej Černelič, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study investigated the sensitivity of maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control in synchronous reluctance machines (SynRMs) to angle errors, examining specifically how deviations in the reference control trajectory affected performance. Analytical and numerical methods were employed to analyze this sensitivity systematically, including the impact of magnetic saturation. Two MTPA control implementation schemes were evaluated, with torque and current amplitude as the reference variables, using a template SynRM from the open-source simulation tool SyR-e. The results indicated that performance sensitivity to angle errors was moderately low near the MTPA trajectory, allowing for significant angle deviations with minimal performance loss. Although magnetic saturation increased this sensitivity slightly, reducing the allowable error range by up to 25%, the maximum angle deviation for up to 1% of the performance decrease still corresponded to approximately ±3∘ around the MTPA trajectory. The findings of this study suggest potential for simplifying control implementations, reducing component costs through less precise position determination (sensor-based or sensorless), and achieving additional control objectives such as torque ripple reduction. 2. Enhancing marketing performance through enterprise-initiated customer engagementMarjeta Marolt, Hans Dieter Zimmermann, Andreja Pucihar, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The exponential speed of technological advancements and the ever-changing needs of customers have changed the way enterprises engage with their customers. However, despite the increasing scholarly interest in the enterprise-initiated perspective of customer engagement (CE) in recent years, it remains unclear what drives enterprises to initiate customer engagement and how enterprise-initiated customer engagement enhances enterprise performance. Thus, the purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate a conceptual model that consists of drivers and outcomes of enterprise-initiated customer engagement. After developing a conceptual model based on previous conceptual approaches to customer engagement, a quantitative survey was undertaken to gather the data from business-to-customer micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises. The data were analyzed using the partial least square path modelling. The findings showed that external pressure and organizational readiness influence enterprise-initiated customer engagement. Enterprise-initiated customer engagement was also found to influence marketing performance. The empirical findings provide insights for managers that explain what drivers may influence enterprise-initiated customer engagement and what benefits they can expect. Overall, this research extends the understanding of the CE domain and provides additional insights for the drivers and outcomes of enterprise-initiated CE. 6. Growth performance, meat quality, and fecal microbial population in limousin bulls supplemented with hydrolyzable tanninsAndrej Mergeduš, Marjan Janžekovič, Dejan Škorjanc, Tadeja Kraner Šumenjak, Maksimiljan Brus, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of supplementation of hydrolyzable tannins (HT) from sweet chestnut wood extract (Castanea sativa Mill.) to the diet of Limousin bulls on growth rate, carcass and meat quality traits, and fecal Clostridia strain levels in a 7-month feeding trial. Thirty-two bulls were randomly assigned to four treatment groups (CON (without addition of HT); TAN 1 (1 g HT kg−1 DM); TAN 2 (1.5 g HT kg−1 DM); and TAN 3 (1.5 g HT kg−1 DM with a nominally lower dose of concentrate). Compared with the CON group, supplementation with HT significantly (p < 0.050) increased bull growth rate during 4–7 months, whereas carcass and meat quality traits were unaffected during the last three months of fattening. Supplementation of HT significantly reduced meat drip loss (p = 0.000) compared with the CON group. No effects were observed on the total number of fecal Clostridia strains; however, the concentration of Clostridium perfringens was significantly lower (p = 0.004) in TAN 1 than that in the CON group. The results obtained in fattening bulls indicate that the addition of HT is justified in practice to improve growth performance and feed efficiency without adverse effects on the carcass and meat quality. 7. Ergonomic evaluation of human–robot collaborative order picking : a combined laboratory and simulation studyMinqi Zhang, Jakob Marolt, Primož Bencak, Eric Grosse, Tone Lerher, 2024, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: Thanks to rapid technological developments in robotics, various automation technologies are being applied in warehouses today. Order picking, as a key process in warehouse operations, has drawn attention in academia and practice for decades. In addition to many studies dedicated to manual and fully automated order picking, efforts have also been made to study semi-automated warehouses in which humans and robots collaborate. However, these studies mostly focused on system efficiency and ignored ergonomic aspects. Order picking was confirmed as a labor-intensive process in an environment in which workers are at a high risk of developing health problems. Therefore, this study addresses the investigation of physical human working conditions in both manual and robot-assisted order picking systems via real-life laboratory experiments and simulation modeling. We used a motion capture system to assess human working postures when working with and without robot assistance. In addition, we estimated the daily workload by applying the energy expenditure concept. Using simulation experiments, we were able to extend the results to various practical scenarios with different design variables, for example warehouse layouts, order sizes, and human-robot team configuration. Our preliminary results reveal that human-robot collaboration can reduce human workload. Posture evaluation also shows a slight improvement. 8. Closed-loop supply chain and impacts on sustainability, comprehending logistics sustainability capacity building : dialogues, paradoxes and innovationLobna Tag el Sheikh, 2024, doktorska disertacija Opis: This thesis focuses on creating a framework for evaluating the influence of closed-loop on supply chain performance in the case of petrochemical industry in the Egyptian context, with a focus to test the influence of sustainability on the supply chain performance, to investigate the function of sustainability as a mediator between reverse logistics and supply chain performance, and evaluate the impact of closed-loop supply chains (environmental legislation, customer awareness and economic motivations) on sustainable development. The gathering of primary data helped the current study's goals get accomplished. Surveys are used to gather data to estimate how reverse logistics impacts the effectiveness of the supply chain. The employees of supply chain companies in Egypt received the surveys from the researcher. The study's findings indicate a strong link between sustainability and reverse logistics. Additionally, there is a marginally significant correlation between supply chain performance and sustainability. The outcomes also showed that the closed-loop supply chain has little influence on supply chain efficiency and sustainability. Furthermore, there is a marginally significant association between supply chain effectiveness and reverse logistics. The results also revealed that sustainability has a function in supply chain performance and reverse logistics. 9. Measurement and improvement of airport’s environmental behavior: an empirical study from North African Countries (NAC) : doctoral dissertationAhmed Eid, 2024, doktorska disertacija Opis: Environmental challenges have grown in worldwide relevance. Considering that most environmental issues are due to human behavior, it is crucial to be aware of environmental sustainability issues in airports where many environmental problems arise. It is worth noting that, in the global society of the 21st century, air transportation serves an important purpose as one of the logistics operations (a crucial component of the worldwide economic supply chain). Otherwise, the aviation sector is one of the factors that contribute to the degradation of the environment. Thus, environmental sustainability in airports is essential, as it is associated with conserving the airport environment from degradation. Since human actions create most environmental problems, fostering eco-friendly habits is seen as a viable strategy for a sustainable future. Hence, enforcing environmentally friendly behavior is vital to achieving environmental sustainability, considering the governing authorities' continuous and rising demand for transportation system sustainability. Thus, under the lances of reasoned action theory, the research aim is to improve the airport's environmental sustainability by developing a new model to develop specific stakeholders' environmental behavior, as environmental sustainability has become a pledge of every supply chain member. Investigating airport individuals' environmental behavior by measuring the impact of airport environmental knowledge and the airport's environmental sustainability performance on their environmental behavior through attitude and testing the moderating role of environmental advertising on the indirect effect of environmental sustainability performance and environmental sustainability knowledge. Notably, the research is based on the reasoned action theory since it concerns the motivation for behavior. The research contributes to extending the reasoned action theory since it strives to adopt the theory in North African airports. Moreover, this research would contribute to expanding the reasoned action theory by providing a theoretical model for understanding its abstract concepts by examining the impact of environmental sustainability knowledge, performance, attitude, and advertising on developing environmental behavior. 10. Analytical model and swapping policy assessment of a vertical lift module – buffer integrated storage systemJakob Marolt, Fabio Sgarbossa, Jesus A. Jimenez, Abhimanyu Sharotry, Tone Lerher, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: To meet the rising demands of global trade and e-commerce, efficient warehousing relies on inte-grated and cooperative material handling systems. This paper investigates the extension of VerticalLift Module (VLM) storage capability with a Buffer System and assesses the impact of this integra-tion on performance. We developed an analytical model to calculate the expected dual commandcycles, forming the basis for evaluating the VLM – Buffer integrated storage system’s performance. Our research emphasises minimising unnecessary swaps between the VLM and the Buffer Systemto enhance throughput performance. We introduce the Look Ahead Strategy (LAS) to minimiseinter-system swaps and develop a Binary Integer Program (BIP) to benchmark its performance. Theresults indicate that LAS performs on par with BIP, due to its ability to consider product popular-ity during the final selection of the outbound swapping tote. Through a comprehensive analysisof the analytical model with an empirical correction, utilising Pareto-based order sequences, theresults show deviations of less than 1% on average, affirming the analytical model’s accuracy. Ourresearch provides insights on using the VLM-Buffer integrated storage system, emphasising efficienttote swapping policies like LAS for enhanced warehouse operations, and allows managers to assesssystem performance through scenario-based analyses.
