1. Multilingual Communication and Court Interpreting in Slovenia : Challenges and PerspectivesVlasta Kučiš, Miha Šipec, Natalia Kaloh Vid, 2026 Opis: This book focuses on court interpreting, an interesting and upgrowing area of research in translation studies as a relatively young interdisciplinary science. Court intepreting is compulsory in asylum proceedings, police interrogations, court hearings, and healthcare when foreign citizens are involved who do not speak or understand Slovenian as the official language. This increased interest stems from the fact that recently many countries which previously had limited experience with foreign citizens are now facing increasing economic migration, which poses certain challenges and requires appropriate language policies and additional training for court interpreters. Court interpreters are experts and specialists in multilingual mediation who act as intermediaries between the court as a state institution and foreign citizens who are unfamiliar with legal and regulatory proceedures and do not understand or speak the language of the judiciary, which is in our case Slovenian. This interdisciplinary book seeks ways and means to improve cooperation between court interpreters and legal experts. The discussion focuses on the establishment and development of intercultural legal interpreting clinics, which enable training and education of future interpreters and lawyers, and the results of research in the light of the international TRANSLaw project. Ključne besede: court interpreting, multilingual communication in criminal proceedings, intercultural legal clinic, international criminal law, cooperation between legal professionals and court interpreters, Convention for the Protection of Human Rights, Directive 2010/64/EU, the right to use one's own language Objavljeno v DKUM: 14.01.2026; Ogledov: 0; Prenosov: 3

3. A model of international development cooperation : the case of SloveniaJanez Rogelj, Štefan Bojnec, Klavdij Logožar, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Development aid, one of the most important mechanisms for the redistribution
of global wealth, represents financial flows with economic growth and social
improvement as their primary objective. Recently, international development
cooperation has been in the process of change that requires the involvement
of new actors, the use of new instruments, and expanding the fields of work.
In this article, the authors introduce the Slovenian model of international
development cooperation, emphasising the criteria for deciding the direction
of development cooperation. The criteria are clear interest of the beneficiary
state, content priority fields, and geographical priority areas. The authors also
discuss Slovenia's active collaboration with the United Nations Industrial
Development Organization in international development cooperation. Special
attention is given to three successful development projects in Africa that
Slovenia recently financed. All three selected projects are based on principles

4. GeMMa Activity Report 2016-2022Tamara Golob, 2023, zbornik Opis: The primary aim of this publication is to support the dissemination of the research achievements of GeMMA Laboratory at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Maribor. It follows the first survey published in 2016, and therefore, the actual book concentrates on the research results since then. The previous book, covering a period of 17 years, presented 35 R&D projects, while the new review of activities over the last 7 years covers as many as 58 projects. This growth is a good cue to introduce the secondary, equally important aim of the book. Namely, we would like to leave the track to our successors to stimulate them for even better research results, to show them, what is possible to achieve in 22 years starting from scratch with the will, hard work, orientation towards the applications, devotion to the research work, and the strong team spirit. Ključne besede: research & development projects, geospatial modelling, multimedia, artificial intellingence, algorithms, industrial cooperation, international cooperation Objavljeno v DKUM: 09.03.2023; Ogledov: 547; Prenosov: 92

5. Reviewing the narrative concerning the impact of population growth in AfricaCocou Marius Mensah, 2019, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This article discusses the topic of population growth in Africa, a recurring theme in the era of climate change and the fight against CO2 emissions. The African continent is full of essential raw materials and encompasses the youngest population in the world. There is no doubt concerning the significant role it will play in global affairs, at a time when the world population is ageing, according to the UN statistics. In recent years, many policymakers have highlighted the necessity to deal with overpopulation, provoking moral controversial and basic human rights abuses. This article, however, proposes an opposite argumentation based on fresh data and emphasises the opportunities and challenges to take on, as the author considers "overpopulation" as more of a challenge than a sentence to underdevelopment. Though the paper mentions different issues linked to overpopulation, such as migration crisis, ecological sustainability and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, it concludes with a reminder of the importance of international cooperation as a solution to global issues. 9. Dynamic effects of international fragmentation of production : empirical analysis of Slovenian manufacturing firmsAnže Burger, 2009, doktorska disertacija Opis: An increasing number of firms outsource peripheral functions in order to stay focused on their core capabilities. This dissertation contributes to a limited body of theoretical and empirical research on the relationship between intermediate inputs offshoring and firm productivity. The main aim of the dissertation is to study the effects of vertical fragmentation on firm productivity. In tight relation to the primary aim, I attempt to provide evidence for the focusing on core capabilities as one of the transmission channels through which imports boost firm productivity. Namely, the main hypothesis of the dissertation states that firms can exploit international outsourcing not only as an efficient means to cutting production costs and enhancing the quality of the inputs, but can use it as a leverage to direct scarce resources on their core business activities. By outsourcing standardized, peripheral components and activities, firms can better concentrate on activities such as research, innovation, sales and marketing, and increase their energies on matters that directly affect competitive positioning.
