The sensing gas microcell has a diameter of 125 μ m and a length of 1 mm, and allows for free gas exchange within the optical resonator through micromachined slits. High light intensity and confinement are ensured by delivering the excitation light directly into the gas microcell through a lead-in single-mode fiber. This enhances the photothermal effect and provides a short system response time. The interrogation system utilizes the modulation of an excitation laser diode with a fixed frequency while locking the probe laser onto the gas microcell’s quadrature point (QP) and observing the variations of the reflected optical power. To show the potential of the proposed system, nitrogen dioxide (NO2 was measured in dry air. Thereby, a limit of detection of 20 ppm could be achieved for 10 s integration time. Furthermore, the small dimensions of the sensor allow for improved dynamic performance with photothermal modulation frequencies as high as 7 kHz. 2. An All-Fiber Fabry–Pérot Sensor for Emulsion Concentration MeasurementsSimon Pevec, Janez Kunaver, Vedran Budinski, Matej Njegovec, Denis Đonlagić, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper describes a Fabry-Perot sensor-based measuring system for measuring fluid composition in demanding industrial applications. The design of the sensor is based on a two-parametric sensor, which enables the simultaneous measurement of temperature and refractive index (RI). The system was tested under real industrial conditions, and enables temperature-compensated online measurement of emulsion concentration with a high resolution of 0.03 Brix. The measuring system was equipped with filtering of the emulsion and automatic cleaning of the sensor, which proved to be essential for successful implementation of a fiber optic RI sensor in machining emulsion monitoring applications. 5. Signal processor for optical fiber sensors based on MEMS Fabry-Perot interferometer : master's thesisNikola Uremović, 2020, magistrsko delo Opis: In the master thesis, we have created an interrogation system for measuring the change of the optical path in the Fabry-Perot interferometer caused by the strain of the surface at which it was attached to. The change of strain can be calculated via a change in optical path length which is visible as a shift in phase angle. The system will be used as a system for measuring strain, although it can be used for measuring various physical parameters that can cause a change in optical path length, such as pressure, force, temperature, etc. Initially, the theoretical background of the system and project components are represented and explained, following the building process of the electronic and optical part of the project. Lastly, the working principle and programming algorithms of a system are presented and explained. Measurement results are shown at the end, as well as the conclusion that is drawn from the thesis. 7. RAZLOČANJE DOLŽINE FABRY-PEROT INTERFEROMETRA Z UPORABO DETEKTORJA RGBTihomir Karničnik, 2015, magistrsko delo Opis: V magistrskem delu se bomo ukvarjali z uporabo detektorja RGB za procesiranje vlakenskih Fabry-Perotovih senzorjev s kratko režo. Detektor RGB deluje v širokem valovnem področju in zaradi tega potrebujemo širokopasovni vir. V prvem delu raziskave bomo poskusili izdelati poceni izvor svetlobe, ki bo povezan z optičnim vlaknom. V nadaljevanju bomo s pomočjo RGB senzorja razločili lastnosti valovnih dolžin, s katerih bomo poskusili določiti dolžino Fabry-Perotovega interferometra. Obdelali bomo teoretično ozadje Fabry-Perotovega interferometra, gradnjo optičnega in elektronskega sistema ter izvedli zgodnji prototip merilnega sistema.
