Žiga Lesjak, 2023, magistrsko delo

Opis: The master’s thesis provides a comprehensive investigation into the interplay of innovation management theory and standardization theory, with a particular emphasis on the ISO 9001 standard. The study is situated within the context of a technology enterprise, company X, offering an in-depth examination of the role of ISO 9001 standard implementation in enhancing the innovativeness and effectiveness of the company's marketing processes. It emphasises the transformative impacts of ISO 9001 standardization, including improved customer focus, process standardization, increased transparency, heightened team engagement, and enhanced risk management. The main purpose of this research is to demonstrate the successful integration of innovation theory with standardization, using company X as a model of best practice. The research further examines the transformation of the company's operations before and after the ISO 9001 standard implementation, highlighting a shift towards a more structured, customer-centric, and risk-aware approach to innovation. Dimensions of decision-making process quality and company performance : a study of top managers in Slovenia
Damjan Grušovnik, Alenka Kavkler, Duško Uršič, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper investigates the relationship between the dimensions of the decision-making process quality and company performance of top managers’ in Slovenia. We found out that companies whose managers exhibit an above-average dimension of openness of spirit in the quality of the decision making process, on average, have a higher stance on foreign markets as companies in which managers show a below-average open spirit. For the managers who work in companies that are present in foreign markets, we could confirm that there is a low/weak correlation between the dimension of effort of the decision-making process quality and the number of employees in a company.

The influence of organizational absorptive capacity on product and process innovation
Nika Murovec, Igor Prodan, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The innovativeness of an organization has an important impact on its profitability as well as on the competitiveness of a country's economy as a whole. Since the innovativeness of Slovenian organizations is low, it is important that managers and industrial policy makers know which factors influence an organizations' innovation. One of these factors is supposed to be the organizational absorptive capacity. Absorptive capacity is one of the most important concepts that have emerged in the field of organizational research in the past years. Absorptive capacity is defined as the set of organizational routines and processes through which an organization identifies and values new external information, and then acquires it, assimilates it and applies it to commercial ends. The results of this research confirm the strong and positive impact of Slovenian organizations' absorptive capacity on process innovation and the even bigger positive influence on the organizations' product innovation.

How to improve innovativeness of small and medium enterprises
Vojko Potočan, Matjaž Mulej, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Small and medium enterprises cannot avoid the global economy and its demand for innovative business as a precondition for competitiveness. Given their small size and related pool of professionals, small and medium enterprises need to work very hard on their staff's innovativeness and related personal traits. Making a small and medium enterprise successful must be considered as an invention-innovation-diffusion process that tackles both the businesses mix of the given size, and the small and medium enterprise as an entrepreneurial achievement. Thus, all preconditions concerning both the content and the process of innovation must be considered, which requires the requisite holism and, therefore, systemic rather than one-sided thinking/behavior of the usual specialists. Hence, values/culture/ethics/normsof owners, entrepreneurs, managers and their co-workers must also be innovated along with their knowledge. Then, interdisciplinary creative cooperation can result from cultural and professional differences.

An empirical study of the relationship between entrepreneurial curiosity and innovativeness
Žiga Peljko, Mitja Jeraj, Gheorghe Sǎvoiu, Miha Marič, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background and Purpose: Despite scholarly interest in understanding the role of different determinants on entrepreneurs and their behavior, little is known about the relationship between entrepreneurial curiosity and innovativeness. This research explores the relationship between entrepreneurial curiosity, which motivates entrepreneurs to gather information about their business and innovativeness that motivate entrepreneurs to incorporate innovations into entrepreneurial processes. Design/Methodology/Approach: Participants in this study were entrepreneurs from Slovenia and USA. By using structural equation modelling, we linked the two constructs of entrepreneurial curiosity and innovativeness to test the influence. Results: Results indicate that entrepreneurial curiosity positively influences innovativeness. The results of this study indicate that at the frame of entrepreneurship psychology entrepreneurial curiosity is important for innovativeness. Conclusion: This paper links the two studied constructs and presents a valuable contribution for entrepreneurship theory; therefore, the results could be used for a further scientific research as also for practical implications.

An empirical study of the relationship between entrepreneurial competences and innovativeness of successors in family SMEs
Marina Letonja, Mitja Jeraj, Miha Marič, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background and Purpose: In the recent period, scholarly interest for family entrepreneurship and succession has been increasing while the question of innovative capability of family SMEs and of innovativeness of founders and successors is relatively unexplored. Little is known about the factors, which are positively correlated, or affect innovativeness of successors in family SMEs. This research explores the relationship between entrepreneurial competences of the founders in family SMEs and innovativeness of their successors. Design/Methodology/Approach: The target group were family SMEs of the first and the second generation – their founders and successors in Slovenia. As our research includes two independent samples with mostly ordinal data, we used univariate (analysis of means, variance, reliability index Cronbach alpha, t-test) and multivariate (simultaneous analysis of more variables, correlation) statistical methods to study the two constructs - entrepreneurial competences of the founders and innovativeness of successors, to test the positive correlation between the two. Results: Results indicate that entrepreneurial competences like creativity, attitude toward risk-taking, attitude toward negotiations, technical knowledge and skills and marketing knowledge and skills of the founders in family SMEs positively correlate with innovativeness of successors. The results of this study indicate that entrepreneurial competences of founders are important factor for fostering innovativeness of successors. Conclusion: This paper links the two studied constructs and presents a valuable contribution for entrepreneurship theory; therefore, the results could be used for a further scientific research as also for practical implications.

Innovativeness as precondition for business excellence in public utiliy (communal) companies
Branko Škafar, Matjaž Mulej, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This article presents a new business excellence model for PUC (PUC), especially in countries in transition as one way to business excellence. The new model has proven successful in a multinational company's daughter company in Slovenia in practice as well as in comparison with companies performing the same activity. We are aware that there are no universal models for success, but there are tools which make it easier to reach. Of course, one single tool will not make a company successful. It must have a unique (original) and requisitely holistic business model to succeed. And talking about unique, i.e. different from others, brings us to innovativeness - the main topic of this research as the background of business excellence, including the PUC. The presented new model has been evolving over ten years and proved successful in practice.
