Post COVID logistics, strategies and actions need to be taken : evidence from small and medium scale food and beverages manufacturing sector
Touhidul Islam, Hasibul Islam, Redwanuzzaman, Masud Rana, Kamal Hossain, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Food is required for both humans and animals, however during the covid-19 era, many small and medium-sized food enterprises are struggling to produce and transport food, and others are on the verge of closing down. Now is the moment to build a future strategy and action plan for the small and medium-sized food industry to mitigate the economic effects of the COVID-19 outbreak. This study's objective is to identify probable tactics, policies, and action plans and evaluate their efficacy and acceptability. This study also explores and quantifies the post-COVID effects of Covid-19 on Bangladesh's Small and Medium-Scale Food Industries. Using a non-probability sample technique, three types of self-administered questionnaires were utilized to gather data from the owner, factory in-charge, manager, and CEO of the Food and Beverage Manufacturing sector. Using SPSS software V.25, descriptive analysis was performed to display frequencies, %ages, and mean scores, while one-sample t-test was utilized to compare the value (mean) of the viewpoints (strategies & action plans) with the supplied value (test value). Results indicate that the probable strategies and action plans (14 strategies) that need to be implemented by the government is high and acceptable and that the effectiveness of other probable strategies and action plans (5 strategies) that need to be implemented by food and beverage manufacturers may also acceptable and could apply to the post-covid situation.

Assembly line optimization using MTM time standard and simulation modeling—A case study
Matic Breznik, Borut Buchmeister, Nataša Vujica-Herzog, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study presents an approach to solving the assembly line balancing problem (ALBP) using the Methods-Time Measurement (MTM) time standard and simulation software. ALBP is a common problem in manufacturing where a set of tasks with fixed times must be assigned to a series of sequential workstations in order to minimize the total idle time and reduce the assembly cost per product. This study uses MTM, a widely used production process scheduling method, to create a new time analysis of an assembly process that was previously balanced using the Work-Factor method and time study. This literature review shows that there are a lack of combinations of updated time analyses with newer simulation approaches in the current literature, and this was the motivation for the present work. An assembly line simulation was performed using Simio software to evaluate different design options and operating scenarios. The results show that the use of MTM and simulation can help minimize idle time and improve assembly line performance, thereby reducing costs and increasing efficiency. This study shows that the approach of using MTM and simulation is effective in solving ALBP and is a useful tool for manufacturing companies to improve the performance of their assembly lines and reduce costs.

Hotel branding exposed : a content analysis of related organisational values
Kristijan Breznik, Kris Law, Mitja Gorenak, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background/Purpose: This paper explores how organisational values can help to understand the interlinks of hotel brands and their hotel rating. The study assumes that the importance of organisational values in the service sector represents one of the key components of both growth and development of an organisation. Methods: Conceptual content analysis was used on the dataset of organisational values found on websites of the top 100 European hotel brands. Advanced network analytic procedures were applied to identify clustered dimensions of organisational values among various hotel brands. Results: Results identified shared organisational values among hotel brands clustered into four predominant dimensions: entrepreneurial, stakeholders, moral, and tradition. The study confirmed wide content variability of organisational values within the hotel brand industry. Conclusion: The cluster analysis identified clusters of the most important words from values statements, concluding that hotel brands highly value “entrepreneurial” and “ethical” clusters. The island analysis approach on hotel brands’ level also reveals that organisational values in this sector are determined by many factors, including the scale and market positioning. Our study provides theoretical and practical implications to hotel brand strategists in order to better understand their current and desired sector position.

The influence and application of social media in the fashion industry
Ivana Ljumović, 2022, diplomsko delo

Opis: Social media marketing proved to be advantageous to all industries. If we consider the huge number of users on social networks and all the advantages they have, as well as their popularity, the fact arises that these networks provide significant business opportunities, i.e., contain great business potential, which they can use if they properly establish communication and advertising through these networks. Nowadays, fashion businesses are investing more time and resources into crafting social media strategies that will further customer loyalty, spread advertising messages, and raise brand awareness. Besides that, social media has a significant impact when it comes to advertising, spreading information, promoting, and selling brands. Social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and Pinterest, are the most popular place for posting and advertising different content. Fashion is an exciting area of constant dynamic changes, and brands need to adapt to it, fashion companies cannot afford to ignore social media. This implies the importance of social media and how fashion firms can use it to their advantage. In conclusion, social media does not replace traditional media, but it does offer consumers pioneering way to interact with the brands they love. Without a doubt, digital media is the latest fashion trend in today's world, and we have every reason to believe in its strength and impact. It is an efficient and effective platform in terms of creating fashion trends and influencers, building brand recognition, and thus being accessible to both existing and potential buyers.

Foreign Languages in Tourism : does the Higher Education in Tourism Meet the Needs of the Tourism Industry? The Case of Croatia
Petra Mikulčić, 2019, magistrsko delo

Opis: The aim of this master’s thesis was to examine in what way the foreign language curricula of the higher education institutions for tourism meet the needs of the tourism industry in Croatia. The research was conducted between both parties of this topic – the representatives of higher education institutions for tourism and the tourism industry representatives. The analysis of research results showed there is currently a gap between what the foreign language curricula of the higher education institutions for tourism have to provide and what the tourism industry actually needs. The research results suggested the main reasons for that gap are the absence of unique education strategy in tourism, a lack of practical work associated with tourism studies, overcrowded classrooms and insufficient learning hour rate. They also suggested possible improvements, which would make the foreign language curricula much more effective. Some of them include: the development of the unique education strategy in tourism, a more prudent choice of languages that are being taught, a limitation of enrollment quotes, an emphasised awareness of the importance of personal initiatives, the curricula with more interaction, adopting trends and successful ideas and changes in knowledge evaluation process. It is our hope this research will help in recognising the necessary changes and provide inspiration for improvements.

An overview of medical malpractice law in the United States including legislative and the health care industry's responses to increased claims
Thomas Allan Heller, 2017, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Medical Malpractice claims are frequently asserted in the United States. At various time and places, an extraordinarily high number of claims and payouts led to what some have called medical malpractice crises. Consequently, in some geographical locations physicians either could not purchase malpractice insurance as carriers withdrew from the market, or, insurance became increasingly expensive and the overall costs associated with the delivery of health care continued to rise. Other undesirable consequences of these crises included a shortage of qualified physicians in certain parts of the country. Many of the states responded to these problems legislatively through a long series of tort reform measures. The health care industry itself has evolved in numerous ways. In particular, many health care providers have turned away from traditional private insurance models to self-insured models such as captives. Further, the industry has continued to consolidate, with fewer, but larger hospitals and clinics, and with an increasing number of physicians employed directly by hospitals and large clinics. The results of all of these changes have had mixed results.
