Evolution of domain-specific modeling language: an example of an industrial case study on an RT-sequencer
Tomaž Kos, Marjan Mernik, Tomaž Kosar, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Model-driven engineering is a well-established software development methodology that uses models to develop applications where the end-users with visual elements model abstractions from a specific domain. These models are based on domain-specific modeling language (DSML), which is particular to the problem domain. During DSML use, new ideas emerge and DSMLs evolve. However, reports on DSML evolution are rare. This study presents a new DSML called RT-Sequencer that evolved from our DSML Sequencer to support, in addition to the Data Acquisition domain, also a new domain—Real-Time Control (RTC) systems. The process of defining models with a new language RT-Sequencer has changed in a way that new end-users were introduced—advanced endusers, which use general-purpose language (GPL) and advanced programming concepts to define modeling environments for the RT-Sequencer end-users. More specifically, an industrial experience with the RT-Sequencer is presented, where DSML was opened for extension so that a GPL code could be inserted into the model to create new visual blocks for the end-user, and the possibility to adapt and optimize the execution code for a particular task. Our experience shows the specific case of DSML evolution supporting another problem domain, and the implementation effort needed to extend domain-specific modeling language with GPL support.

Doživetja in komodifikacija izkustva tveganja : primer popkulturnega fenomena serije Squid Game in iger preživetja
Jovana Grujović, 2025, diplomsko delo

Opis: Diplomsko delo raziskuje komodifikacijo izkustva tveganja v kontekstu popkulturnega fenomena serije Squid Game in iz nje izpeljanega produkta – »the Trials experience«. Namen diplomskega dela je razširiti znanje o produktih doživetij z elementi popkulturne medijske produkcije. V teoretičnem delu smo predstavili izkustveno ekonomijo v sodobni družbi in vse večjo razširjenost komodifikacije in igrifikacije ter specifike popkulturnega turizma. V tem kontekstu smo predstavili tudi izbrano serijo in analizirani doživljajski produkt – igre preživetja. Empirični del zajema dve analizi, in sicer tematsko in multimodalno. S pomočjo tematske analize smo najprej analizirali promocijski diskurz na uradnih spletnih komunikacijskih kanalih doživljajskega produkta, da bi identificirali obljube, prek katerih se komodificira tveganje. Nato smo z multimodalno analizo uporabniško generiranih vsebin, konkretno video posnetkov udeležencev doživetja, odkrivali, kako ti doživljajo in reprezentirajo svojo izkušnjo na Instagramu. Rezultati obeh analiz pričajo o kompleksnosti poblagovljenja izkušnje tveganja, kjer strah in tveganje postaneta tržni dobrini, prilagojeni potrebam potrošnikov.

Surveying healthcare workers to improve the design, wearer experience and sustainability of PPE isolation gowns
Sonja Šterman, Katherine Townsend, Eloise Salter, Karen Harrigan, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This protective clothing design project responds to the urgent need for research into the redesign of personal protective equipment (PPE) isolation gowns, to be more fit for purpose and reusable to enhance the experiences of healthcare workers treating patients with COVID-19 and variants. Funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) the research addresses the engineering question: “What new materials, design and manufacturing approaches should we start to consider in preparation for pandemics e.g. reusable PPE to replace single use?” The article focuses on the online questionnaire/ survey, its main findings and the ‘participatory clothing design’ methodology which prioritises the lived experiences and expressed needs of healthcare workers wearing disposable and reusable PPE in acute care scenarios. Research methods include literature and gown reviews, selected interviews and survey directed at nurses, to acquire first-hand qualitative data about the impact of current gown design and procurement policies on wearers. Selected results and commentary from the ongoing survey are presented and thematically analysed to inform the development of reusable gowns. Semi-structured interviews with clinical leads and caregivers, as well as responses from users, will be important to integrate expertise in fashion, textile and uniform design, clinical practice, and manufacturing. Further design will be based on a complex design brief that balances the needs of wearers and critical care providers while considering regulations, protection, comfort, sustainability, and cost. This research focuses on enhancing an overlooked area of critical care clothing and the people who wear it while reducing its detrimental impact on the planet.

Differences in user perception of artificial intelligence-driven chatbots and traditional tools in qualitative data analysis
Boštjan Šumak, Maja Pušnik, Ines Kožuh, Andrej Šorgo, Saša Brdnik, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Qualitative data analysis (QDA) tools are essential for extracting insights from complex datasets. This study investigates researchers’ perceptions of the usability, user experience (UX), mental workload, trust, task complexity, and emotional impact of three tools: Taguette 1.4.1 (a traditional QDA tool), ChatGPT (GPT-4, December 2023 version), and Gemini (formerly Google Bard, December 2023 version). Participants (N = 85), Master’s students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with prior experience in UX evaluations and familiarity with AI-based chatbots, performed sentiment analysis and data annotation tasks using these tools, enabling a comparative evaluation. The results show that AI tools were associated with lower cognitive effort and more positive emotional responses compared to Taguette, which caused higher frustration and workload, especially during cognitively demanding tasks. Among the tools, ChatGPT achieved the highest usability score (SUS = 79.03) and was rated positively for emotional engagement. Trust levels varied, with Taguette preferred for task accuracy and ChatGPT rated highest in user confidence. Despite these differences, all tools performed consistently in identifying qualitative patterns. These findings suggest that AI-driven tools can enhance researchers’ experiences in QDA while emphasizing the need to align tool selection with specific tasks and user preferences.

Attractiveness of collaborative platforms for sustainable e-learning in business studies
Simona Sternad Zabukovšek, Zdenko Deželak, Silvia Parusheva, Samo Bobek, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: E-learning platforms have become more and more complex. Their functionality included in learning management systems is extended with collaborative platforms, which allow better communication, group collaboration, and face-to-face lectures. Universities are facing the challenge of advanced use of these platforms to fulfil sustainable learning goals. Better usability and attractiveness became essential in successful e-learning platforms, especially due to the more intensive interactivity expected from students. In the study, we researched the user experience of students who have used Moodle, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. User experience is, in most cases, connected with a person’s perception, person’s feelings, and satisfaction with the platform used. Data were collected using a standard UEQ questionnaire. With this research, we examined whether user experience factors: perceived efficiency, perceived perspicuity, perceived dependability, perceived stimulation, and perceived novelty affect perceived attractiveness, which is an important factor in the sustainability of e-learning tools. The collected data were processed using SmartPLS. The research study showed that all studied factors have a statistically significant impact on perceived attractiveness. Factor perceived stimulation has the strongest statistically significant impact on the perceived attractiveness of e-learning platforms, followed by perceived efficiency, perceived perspicuity, perceived novelty, and perceived dependability.

Analysis and evaluation of user experience in mobile applications with modern interaction methods : magistrsko delo
Katja Frančič, 2024, magistrsko delo

Opis: Mobile devices, seamlessly weaving artificial intelligence into their applications, have become indispensable for millions of people in their daily lives. In our master’s thesis, we explored methods for evaluating user experience, focusing on those suitable for modern mobile applications. In the applied phase, participants evaluated three mobile apps using distinct questionnaires. This affirmed the positive correlation between user interface simplicity and enhanced UX, alongside modern interaction methods fostering increased user loyalty. Our findings confirm that post-task questionnaires offer deeper insights into UX, with users showing a preference for completing them. While gender may influence user experience, it's not the sole determinant.

The Challenges of integrating sustainable winegrowing into wine tourism - examples from Slovenia and abroad
Marko Koščak, 2022, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: In an increasingly competitive tourist market, wine and enogastronomy are becoming key elements in the development of tourist products in regions that cultivate grapevines, in Slovenia and internationally. It has been claimed that no kind of tourism can develop in regions without wine; however, from today’s perspective, this claim seems an exaggeration. Nevertheless, enogastronomy is an integral part of many contemporary tourist products. As such, it combines tradition, history and heritage and also improves the recognisability of a given destination on which modern wine tourism products rest. On a global scale, wine tourism is growing, and the forecast for the future is likewise promising. The essence of a wine tourism product is to connect food and wine, i.e. enogastronomic or culinary experiences, and to follow new trends. The trend is to consolidate this segment of tourism services, in particular through leisure activities and relaxation at the destination of choice. Food and wine thus become part of the cultural experience of the visited destination and equal the experience of visiting a museum or a concert or may be an equal component of such a package.

What is worth retaining from the COVID-19 experience on remote online education in the prospective teacher education?
Mateja Ploj Virtič, Kosta Dolenc, Andrej Šorgo, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped the educational landscape, including the training of prospective teachers. This study explores prospective teachers' experiences of transitioning to online distance education (ODE) and their intentions regarding the preferred teaching scenarios they wish to use in their future in-service practice. In the sample of 281 prospective teachers, we found interesting results: (a) smartphones offer very limited opportunities for active participation in ODE; (b) connectivity is the weakest point in ODE; (c) personal digital infrastructure and study conditions influence intention to choose teaching scenarios in ODE, when in the role of teacher, while group size does not. We can safely assume that online distance education will survive in some educational pockets but due to numerous limitations, it will not become a dominant current in teacher education.
