Impacts of zero-emission powertrains based on hydrogen technologies in public transport
Niko Natek, Boštjan Krajnc, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This article reviews the development potentials and environmental impact of introducing category M3 vehicles (for passenger transport/buses) with fuel cell electric powertrains to an urban and inter-urban public transport service (PTS) to be operated in the Savinjsko-Šaleška region. The main focus is the demonstration of the PTS modelling and preliminary environmental impact assessment of the operation compared to conventional (modern) diesel-powered internal combustion engines.

Design of thermal power plant modernization and rehabilitation model for the new market demands and challenges
Martin Bricl, Jurij Avsec, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article presents the model for the rehabilitation of existing conventional thermal power plants in order to lower the consumption of fossil fuels. Instead of them, the model uses an alternative energy source - sun irradiation. The proposed rehabilitation model is theoretically calculated and designed. The model in the software environment Matlab Simulink was developed, based on previous calculations and determined parameters. In this article, it is presented the combination of Clausius - Rankine process and solar central receiver system. The model enables simultaneous calculations of exit model parameters for the complete model, based on predetermined entering parameters of the model.

A conceptual model of developing an agile work environment
Katja Crnogaj, Polona Tominc, Maja Rožman, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study has highlighted the need for an agile work environment to enhance companies’ performance, growth, and sustainability. In today’s rapidly changing business world, the goal of every individual and team in a company should be to deliver value to customers. The paper highlights theoretical and empirical evidence on the importance of an agile work environment and its positive effect on company performance. In addition, the paper provides insights into the important concept of developing an agile work environment and offers a conceptual model with five selected constructs, which can be leveraged to build an agile mindset in companies. Moving away from traditional leadership models, this paper highlights the significant role that agile leadership can play in enhancing effectiveness and performance, even in long-established large companies. The empirical research was based on 468 randomly selected medium and large Slovenian companies. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to test the model. The empirical results show that changing and adaptive agile companies are the ones that thrive more easily in an environment that is unpredictable and characterized by rapid change.

Country life in the digital era : comparison of technology use and cybercrime victimization between residents of rural and urban environments in Slovenia
Igor Bernik, Kaja Prislan Mihelič, Anže Mihelič, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Cybercrime is one of the most significant security challenges of the 21st century. However, official statistics do not provide insights into its prevalence and nature. Representative cross-sectional field studies may help fill this gap, focusing on differences between urban and rural technology users. We (a) investigated the association between the purpose of computers and other electronic device usage and perceived vulnerability, (b) compared the differences in the purpose of computers or other electronic device use and perceived vulnerability, and (c) compared the perceived cyber victimization between residents of rural and urban areas. We conducted a field study that resulted in a representative sample of the Republic of Slovenia in Europe. We found several significant differences in the purpose of technology use and perceived cyber victimization. Furthermore, the results indicate that the purpose of technology use is somehow associated with perceived vulnerability in cyberspace; however, such associations are different in cyberspace than in the material world.

Weather conditions and crimes prevalence in Ifako- Ijaye (Lagos State, Nigeria)
Elisha Ademola Adeleke, Abiodun Daniel Olabode, Abimbola Emmanuel Oni, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Purpose: This paper aims to establish how weather parameters influence crimes with a view to understanding the varying levels of crime in the study area. Design/Methods/Approach: Data referring to maximum and minimum temperature, relative humidity, rainfall amount and wind speed, murder, assault, rape, armed robbery, breach of public peace, criminal conspiracy, theft, kidnapping, slave dealings, cultism and burglary were collected from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, the Oshodi and Nigerian Police Force, Divisional Headquarters, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos State. Findings: Results of regression analysis revealed a relationship exists between weather parameters and the prevalence of crimes at a magnitude of 91%; multiple correlation analysis results showed that a relationship exists between rape and weather at a magnitude of 90%. Research Limitations / Implications: This research focused on the role played by the observed weather elements on crime activity in the study area. However, the study suggests further studies on other factors capable of inducing crimes. Originality/Value: The paper deals with an issue not given much attention in the area under study. In Nigeria, criminal activities are typically viewed in terms of peer group influence rather than the weather. Generally, the study has the potential to help realign security measures and inform people of the possibility of being morally influenced by the prevailing weather conditions.

Legal aspects of health implications caused by environmental distress
Rajko Knez, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article tries to explore legal consequences in cases where the environmental distress causes health implications for individuals. The author begins with the observations from two different angles, that is ex ante and ex post actions. Both approaches differ substantively, since the ex ante approach is applied by state authorities (command-and-control approach, de iure imperii acts), while the ex post approach is by a general rule initiated by individuals against polluters/state. Both approaches are discussed considering the application of EU rules and beyond (ECHR, Aarhus convention). The main emphasis is given to one of the biggest problems, that is the issue of causality, which discourages many plaintiffs from claiming damages. For the so-called post-industrial risks the conventional rules of causality do not suffice, which is why certain courts proposed that changes in this respect are necessary. In addition, the role of NGOs is emphasised, since the NGO can, especially in the ex ante approach, achieve better effects, especially when locus standi is assured.
