2. Decision support concept for improvement of sustainability-related competencesAndreja Abina, Tanja Batkovič, Bojan Cestnik, Adem Kikaj, Rebeka Kovačič Lukman, Maja Kurbus, Aleksander Zidanšek, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In this paper, we derived competences from previously developed competence models, ensuring the effective use of advanced technologies in future factories to improve the sustainability of their business models and strategies. Based on the analysis of the Hogan competence model and competence models for sustainability and leadership, we compiled a selection of competences for digitalisation, automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, and soft competences such as emotional intelligence and cultural literacy. We also included competences required for sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and circular economy. The selected competences formed the core for the conceptual development of a decision support tool for the individualised selection of training for employees. The concept was tested in customised training to improve employees’ skills and motivation for lifelong learning at the selected industrial partner. The developed assessment algorithm was used to monitor the progress of individual employees’ skills development before and after their training participation. The results of the assessment help human resource departments make decisions for selecting the most effective and optimal training for employees to improve their sustainability-related competences. Such a systematic approach can improve and evaluate competences that companies need to transition to a circular economy. 6. The emergence of gig economy under the impact of digitalization - model of the success factors of freelancersIvona Huđek, 2022, doktorska disertacija Opis: This dissertation examines the emergence of the gig economy under the impact of digitalisation, focusing on one alternative form of work – freelancing. Over the past two decades, new and contemporary occupational concepts have emerged in the context of technological advances and the reorganisation of employment relationships in the wake of digitalisation. Technology has enabled many things to be done online or remotely, and for work to be broken down into smaller components in the form of projects.
Scholars explain that the most important innovations influenced by digitalisation are the development of new business models characterised by less dependence on physical elements or dematerialisation of processes, as seen in the “gig economy”. In the gig economy, very short-term tasks or projects within specific activities are performed by individual self-employed workers, usually coordinated through online platforms or applications. As a result, many workers are able to complete tasks in a more efficient and fragmented manner. Unlike traditional careers characterised by hierarchical advancement, organisational career management, and low mobility, many individuals are also becoming more mobile and self-directed in their careers. As a result of these developments, new work arrangements have emerged that are taking up an increasingly large share of the labour market in major economies (such as the US and UK), heightening concerns about how workers are classified and raising questions about entrepreneurship, future career development, work-life balance, employment law frameworks, and social protections. These flexible work arrangements are often referred to as alternative and are performed by independent contractors, known as freelancers.
Therefore, the dissertation was carried out to examine this alternative form of work at the national level in Slovenia, and explore the issue of career satisfaction, and specifically whether freelance work allows fulfilment through project work. In this dissertation, a freelancer refers to a self-employed individual without employees who is responsible for paying their own taxes and welfare contributions, works on projects for multiple clients, and works remotely, usually from home.
The development of the research model for the purposes of this dissertation is based on Van den Born and Van Witteloostuijn’s (2013) freelancer success model, which is based on the intelligent career framework that consists of three interrelated variables: knowing why, knowing how, and knowing who. The ‘knowing why’ variable mainly reflects our personality traits and motivation. The ‘knowing how’ variable reflects human capital, while the ‘knowing who’ variable reflects social capital inside and outside the workplace (Parker & Arthur, 2004). However, the external environment is missing in this model. Therefore, the dissertation also included the external part, i.e. the external environment consisting of the characteristics of the entrepreneurial ecosystem: government programs, cultural and social norms, legal system support, and digital support. As Slovenia and other EU member states are implementing national strategies for digital transformation, this dissertation provides insight into freelancers in Slovenia and their perceptions of certain aspects of external environmental factors, which may be helpful in evaluating current digital strategies and future policy proposals and decisions.
Therefore, the main objective of the dissertation was to test a conceptual model that links multidimensional variables that influence the perceived success of freelancers based on a review of the literature and empirical research, and thus to learn certain specific characteristics of the group of entrepreneurial, self-employed individuals known as freelancers, and to determine the extent to which personality traits, human and social capital, and motivation of the individual, as well as a supportive environment (entrepreneurial ecosystem), Ključne besede: digitalisation, gig economy, freelancers, predictors of success, structural model equation Objavljeno v DKUM: 14.11.2022; Ogledov: 544; Prenosov: 108

8. Importance of business models in circular economy : bachelor thesisFernández Gómez Raquel, 2022, diplomsko delo Opis: This bachelor thesis studies and analyzes the importance of business models in the Circular Economy. The company studied is an SME, i.e. 10 to 250 employees. The smaller companies are mainly confronted with the problem of resources, and the larger ones with their strategic orientation.
The aim is to generate a guideline or way of doing that serves as a model for the SMEs already created so that the transition from the Linear Economy, which is still predominant today, to a Circular Economy.
The idea is, after the study, a real case study of SMEs working with the premises of CE to establish a market model that follows the same.
To support changes, we have documented the different business models currently in use, choosing the Canvas Business Model for several reasons and making the various changes necessary to make this a sustainable and circular model.
In addition, it is established that the process of innovation and modification must be applied as a continuous cyclical process. If the company wants to be successful, it is a continuous cycle model, which should never stop. 9. Ekonomski učinki “Mini Schengena” na države zahodnega BalkanaStefan Pasinechki, 2021, diplomsko delo Opis: The concept of open borders between Western Balkan countries has gained a lot of traction in recent years. The idea gained traction after the leaders of Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia agreed to begin implementing the "Mini Schengen" or "Open Balkans" plan, which includes opening the three nations' internal borders. In this thesis, we have analyzed the economic effects such a move will have on these three countries using already available data and studies done on Schengen Area countries. We used these studies and data to forecast the economy for the next few years if Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia joined the Schengen or Mini Schengen in the years 2021-2025. We discovered that open borders would significantly benefit the economies, increase cooperation, and improve relations of these countries, as well as provide numerous economic opportunities for individuals and businesses.
