Does spiritual leadership influence hotel employees’ voluntary eco-friendly behavior? : the role of harmonious green passion and nature connectedness

Opis: Purpose: The current paper investigates the role of spiritual leadership in increasing employees’ voluntary eco-friendly behavior. This research emphasizes the value of a harmonious green passion (HGP) and connectedness to nature (CTN) as a mediating factor between a spiritual leader (SL) and an employee’s voluntary eco-friendly behavior (VEB). Design/Methodology: The data was provided by a sample of 273 participants who worked as hotel employees in Yogyakarta’s four and five-star hotels. SPSS and AMOS 25 were used as statistical programs to analyze the data. Findings: Based on the discovery, the study presents strong theoretical and managerial implications that hospitality institutions can use to evaluate the importance of spiritual leaders on employees’ eco-friendly behavior among employees. We also discovered that indirect associations between spiritual leadership and employee voluntary eco-friendly behavior exist via connectedness to nature and harmonious green passion. Practical Implication: By shedding further light on how and when a spiritual leader influences employees’ voluntary eco-friendly behavioral intention in hotels, this research added to the body of knowledge on the hospitality industry in South East Asia. Originality: The study offers novelty by emphasizing the function of connectedness to nature and harmonious green passion in the relationship between spiritual leadership and employees’ eco-friendly behavior.

Children as witnesses in court proceedings

Opis: When children are confronted with the judicial system, they are particularly vulnerable to stressful and complex situations. Complying with international standards promoting child-friendly justice is crucial for preventing negative impacts on their development. The Slovenian legal system has implemented several measures to safeguard the rights and well-being of child victims and witnesses in criminal proceedings, such as excluding minors from direct confrontation with the accused, utilising videoconferencing for testimony, and establishing child-friendly spaces. The model of "Barnahus" or "Children’s House" has been adopted as well, emphasising a multidisciplinary approach to addressing child victims of sexual abuse and other crimes. The Supreme Court has actively pursued child-friendly justice, producing informative booklets to guide child witnesses through legal processes. These and other initiatives underscore Slovenia's commitment to balancing the rights of the accused with the protection and support of child victims in the criminal justice system while leaving room for further development.

The effects of ozone sterilization on the chemical and mechanical properties of 3D-printed biocompatible PMMA

Opis: Since ozone is highly corrosive, it can substantially affect the mechanical and chemical properties of the materials; consequently, it could affect the applicability of those materials in medical applications. The effect of ozone sterilization on the chemical and mechanical properties of additively manufactured specimens of biocompatible poly(methyl-methacrylate) was observed. FDM 3D-printed specimens of biocompatible PMMA in groups of five were exposed to high concentrations of ozone generated by corona discharge for different durations and at different ozone concentrations inside an enclosed chamber with embedded and calibrated ozone, temperature, and humidity sensors. A novel approach using laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) and spark-discharge optical emission spectrometry (SD-OES) was used to determine an eventual change in the chemical composition of specimens. Mechanical properties were determined by testing the tensile strength and Young’s modulus. A calibrated digital microscope was used to observe the eventual degradation of material on the surface of the specimens. SD-OES and LIF analysis results do not show any detectable sterilizationcaused chemical degradation, and no substantial difference in mechanical properties was detected. There was no detectable surface degradation observed under the digital microscope. The results obtained suggest that ozone sterilization appears to be a suitable technique for sterilizing PMMA medical devices.

Overview of the Patents and Patent Applications on Upper Guardrail Protection Systems for Motorcyclists

Opis: Upright-posture motorcycle crashes against steel safety barriers (SSBs) often result in severe upper-body injuries due to the sharp upper edge of the rail. While solutions for sliding crashes on curves, called a ‘motorcyclist-friendly barrier’, are already implemented in practice, protective measures for upright-posture impacts remain underdeveloped. This study systematically reviews patents and patent applications addressing upper guardrail protection for motorcyclists. We identified and analysed a small number of existing innovations aimed at mitigating the consequences of upright crashes. The selected solutions were evaluated according to their technical design, ease of installation, potential for recycling, environmental compatibility, and expected costs. Our comparative analysis reveals that while some patents or patent applications offer promising features, such as flexible caps, bent plates, or modular attachments, none comprehensively address all safety, environmental, and economic requirements. The findings provide a basis for further development of motorcyclist-friendly SSB designs and suggest specific criteria that should be included in future guidelines and standard updates.

Athletes friendly education handbook : Award for Educational Institutions supporting the Dual Career of Athlete

Opis: (AFE) is a type of schooling, continually planning, organizing, and improving a system of adaptations included in a school's educational process and infrastructure. These adaptations are implemented voluntarily and in a benevolent, systematic, comprehensive, and transparent manner, with the explicit aim to help athletes engage in sport and simultaneously achieve goals and competencies set out in the educational program and thus Athlete friendly education has the following attributes: adaptations; rather than being discrete, these adaptations constitute a system; daptations are organized and managed by school management; institutions introduce the adaptations voluntarily; adaptations are based on pre-existing legal frameworks and internal institutional regulations; institutions need to possess adequate competencies or experience; they need to be "trustworthy," in other words. AFE accreditation is voluntary. The principle of voluntary certification is very similar to the "brand" philosophy. The brand also contains a "promise."

Investigation of an electrostatic discharge protective biodegradable packaging foam in the logistic chain

Opis: Since the beginning of the 20th century, logistics has undergone a huge technological development, which has, however, resulted in many negative effects as well. The industry, particularly in the packaging industry has been a massive waste producer, although recently it has forced the use of new materials and it started to focus on environmentally friendly technologies. During the transportation of finished and semi-finished Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) sensitive products, the product packaging system has a vital role. These kind of packaging materials must be suitable to both logistic (protection against mechanical and environmental stresses) and special ESD protection requirements. During the transportation of printed-circuit electronic products, ESD defense is then of primary significance. However there is a huge disadvantage for the use of various shield bags. Namely, this kind of associated packaging is particularly pollutant, it causes a lot of inconvenience in the form of waste. In order to rule out these materials from the packaging system, new innovative solutions have to be found. The investigated TPS (thermoplastic starch biodegradable foam) is subjected to a validation, a long process to certify that this material unites properties of two types of packaging materials at the same time. On the one hand, this packaging foam has to meet the requirements product defense. On the other hand, the material must be anti-static under the logistic stress effects. In case it is found suitable, it can be an alternative of the conventional materials. In this article, we investigate the ESD characteristic of TPS foam. As this material sensitive for environmental parameters during transportation, we make the relevant Surface Resistance (Rs) tests on different temperature and humidity conditions. Based on result, the decision of the application can be done, as an ESD packaging material.

Ecodesign in the context of customer's and producer's point of view

Opis: The present study reviews the attitudes and behaviours of the customers toward products which are “respectful” for the environment. To address the issue in a wider perspective, this paper also encompasses various aspects of ecodesign from producer’s point of view. Two surveys were conducted. The purpose of the first survey was to investigate the awareness and intention of the Slovenian customers to purchase green products, their perceptions and attitudes towards green products. The second survey was directed to organizations to examine their attitudes toward green products and environmental issues. The study revealed that the green products have substantial awareness among Slovenian customers. The results received from the study were illuminating, and encourage the possibility for integration of environmental aspects into products, since 94 percent of respondents expressed a desire for more “green” products available on the market. For the customers the most important quality characteristics of the product are: quality, usability and practicality followed by environmental ones. Survey results indicate that environmental concern plays a fundamental role in organizations. According to the results, concern for the environment is the most important criteria that encourage organizations to introduce environmental management system (EMS) standard (mean=4,2 on a scale of 5).
