Counting Hamiltonian cycles in 2-tiled graphs
Alen Vegi Kalamar, Tadej Žerak, Drago Bokal, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In 1930, Kuratowski showed that 3,3 and 5 are the only two minor-minimal nonplanar graphs. Robertson and Seymour extended finiteness of the set of forbidden minors for any surface. Širáň and Kochol showed that there are infinitely many k-crossing-critical graphs for any ≥2, even if restricted to simple 3-connected graphs. Recently, 2-crossing-critical graphs have been completely characterized by Bokal, Oporowski, Richter, and Salazar. We present a simplified description of large 2-crossing-critical graphs and use this simplification to count Hamiltonian cycles in such graphs. We generalize this approach to an algorithm counting Hamiltonian cycles in all 2-tiled graphs, thus extending the results of Bodroža-Pantić, Kwong, Doroslovački, and Pantić.

The Influence of Increased Moderator Temperature on the Nuclear Characteristics of the NPP Krško
Marjan Kromar, Bojan Kurinčič, 2019, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci

Opis: NPP Krško safety analysis has been performed in such a way to allow operation with primary system average coolant temperature - Tavg inside a prescribed range, which constitute the socalled operating window. The Tavg window enables certain flexibility to select an optimum value within the Tavg range taking into account safety, operational and economical considerations. Increase of the reactor coolant temperature in general improves thermodynamic efficiency of the Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) plant yielding to increase in the electricity production. However, higher temperature causes lower water density in the reactor core altering the neutron moderation and consequently neutron transport in the reactor. This impact on the nuclear core characteristics is investigated for the NPP Krško reactor core.

Environmental victims : challenges for criminology and victimology in the 21st century
Matthew Hall, 2011, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Purpose: This paper addresses the issue of ‘environmental victimisation’ (harm to individuals suffered as a result of environmentally damaging activities) and asks what role criminologists in general and vicitmologists in particular will have to play as our understanding of the consequence of climate change and other environmental degradation develops still further. Design/Methods/Approach: The paper draws on a social harms approach to argue for an extended definition of such victimisation, beyond restrictive legal categories. Findings: Clear parallels are demonstrated between the subjects of ‘green criminology’ with more ‘mainstream’ victimological and criminological developments (in the academy and in policy making circles internationally). This demonstrates the relevance of ‘environmental harm’ to existing and long-standing debates talking place in both areas, including those concerning the nature of victimisation and the responsibilities of the state to those victimised. The argument is illustrated through a discussion of various classifications of environmental harm, including harm to health, security, the economy, social and cultural impacts and the unequal distribution of such impacts around the world and between different socioeconomic groups. Practical implications: The implications of the paper are that a great deal more research needs to be carried out by criminologists and victimologists on the subject of ‘environmental; harm’, and indeed these scholars are likely to be increasingly approached for views/data on this issue in the coming years. Such developments therefore need to be recognised by funding bodies, Universities and so on.

Evaluation of the plastic critical depth in seismic active lateral earth pressure problems using the stress-characteristics method
Amin Keshavarz, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The plastic critical depth or the conventional tension crack depth has a considerable effect on the active lateral earth pressure in cohesive soils. In this paper the depth for c-ϕ soils has been evaluated in the seismic case using the stress-characteristics or slip-line method. The plastic critical depth was calculated on the basis of the theory of the stress-characteristics method and by considering the horizontal and vertical pseudo-static earthquake coefficients. The proposed solution considers the line of discontinuity in the stress-characteristics network. The earth slope, wall slope, cohesion and friction angle of the soil and the adhesion and the friction angle of the soil-wall interface were considered in the analysis as well. The results show that the plastic critical depths of this study are smaller than those of the other methods and are closer to the modified Mononobe-Okabe method. The effects of the wall and the backfill geometry, the mechanical properties of the soil and the pseudo-static coefficients were studied.

Solution of the problem of critical path’s finding in Excel on the basis of reducing it to ordinary transportation task
Mimo Drašković, Ludmila Malyaretz, Oleksandr Dorokhov, 2016, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: The problem of determining the critical path for the scheduling tasks has been considered. An original technique for practical calculations using the available Solver add-on in Excel has been described. The proposed approach is based on reducing the task to solving the ordinary transportation problem, in particular to the problem of finding the longest path. Examples of solutions with the test input data and corresponding screenshots are given. The practical steps of the user’s action in the process of direct solution in Excel are consistently described. The analysis of the results of the proposed method has been performed and presented. It is established that presented method for calculating the critical path requires minimal efforts from the users, regardless of the dimension of the tasks.

6.
The impact of managers on successful ERP implementation
Franc Ravnikar, 2010, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Lately, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has been implemented in public organizations and organizations without competition in the marketplace. It is the ERP system that is almost as badly needed for the competitiveness and success of those organizations in the marketplace. The main reason lies in the fact that operating costs have to be reduced and the optimization of business processes is an option which nowadays is normally implemented together with new ERP. The success rate of ERP implementation remains very low with up to a 90% failure rate, as it is quoted in a lot of researches. Critical success factors (CSF) which influence successful ERP implementation are identical in all organizations. The main goal of this research is to find out the managers' impact on the critical success factors and thus their impact on the successful ERP implementation. Top management support is the most important critical success factor for successful ERP implementation, regardless of the fact whether the organization is on the market or not.

Teaching ethics and critical thinking in contemporary schools
Bojan Borstner, Smiljana Gartner, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Basic ethical questions, dilemmas and especially decisions do not only affect the life of an individual but can also affect lives of others. In some professional ethics, where decisions about a person's life or death are made, decisions can even be irreversible. In this contribution three ways of deciding by highlighting critical, and reflective decision-making or systematic thought process as the most effective method in ethics have been pointed out. Therefore, taking ethics as a critically reflective morality highlights the fact that we can talk about ethical exploration, so ethics is a process of thinking, not a set of established answers that need only to be passively accepted. It could be concluded that the study of and practice in, evaluating arguments and evidence (moral decision making) via critical thinking as well as using other important skills (raising questions according to Blooms taxonomy and doing a lot of case studies) is the best way to achieve the most fundamental goal in teaching an ethical course -- becoming a better person. And is therefore something that should be in every curriculum.

Critical thinking in education : why to avoid logical fallacies?
Janez Bregant, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The study argues for the claim that a correct argumentation, i.e. a non-fallacious or good reasoning, should be the essential part of the education process, which is not always the case. The bad argumentation makes human standards and interpersonal relationships worse, and leads to the growth of social conflicts and an instable society. If the legislature, executive and judiciary branches of power did not listen to good arguments, our lives would not be as good as they are since the state might pass bad, dangerous and unjust laws. A person trained in critical thinking starting in their youth would be able to tell a difference between good and bad arguments and recognize the fact that accepting the former and dropping the latter is the only way to avoid the above mentioned negative characteristics of a society. By teaching pupils how to employ the prescribed standards of a correct argumentation using everyday examples helps them to avoid adopting certain views on the ground of their popularity, affections produced in observers, their popularity etc., which are classic examples of logical fallacies. An early training in critical thinking could make obvious the fact that, a democracy consisting among other things also in a social, racial and gender equality, after all, does not mean that sometimes left arguments win and sometimes the right ones, and that there is no difference between them in the long run.

A review of critical success factors for offshore software development projects
Goparaju Purna Sudhakar, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Offshore project success is very much important to both customer and the vendor. Based on very less success rate of overall software projects globally, critical success factors (CSFs) for offshore software projects is gaining much importance. In the current study based on literature review, a total of 75 success factors for offshore software projects are identified. Further based on their appearance in literature 20 critical success factors from 10 CSF categories are identified. Finally top six most critical success factors for offshore software projects such as trust, efficient communication, cultural understanding, relationship between client and vendor, contract type and efficient knowledge transfer are identified. The CSFs categories are prioritized in the order of importance. The important CSF categories for offshore projects found are organizational factors (both client and vendor), project factors, cultural factors and environmental factors.

The contribution to the procedure of capacity determination at unsignalized priority-controlled intersections
Tomaž Tollazzi, 2004, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: The problem of minor vehicles crossing or merging into the major stream at unsignalized priority-controlled intersections is well-known. Numerous solutions involve various assumptions concerning the major headway distributions, number of major lanes, critical gap distributions, etc. Such cases can be divided into two main groups: intersections with two streams (one major and one minor stream) and intersections with more than two streams (more than one major stream and one minor stream). At roundabouts, also at single-lane roundabouts, there are similar problems like the ones at other unsignalized priority-controlled intersections. A vehicle at the roundabout approach can only cross the pedestrian crossing when a sufficient time-gap between two pedestrians (or cyclists) is provided. A vehicle at the roundabout entries can only merge into the major stream when a sufficient gap between the two vehicles in the major stream is provided. Because of that, single-lane round-abouts can also be treated as unsignalized intersections with two major lanes: the first one in its circulatory roadway and the second one on the pedestrian crossing.
