Crisis management and CSR in Slovenian companies : the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic
Duško Uršič, Andrej Smogavc Cestar, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The main aim of this article was to outline how the appearance of COVID-19 changed the global competitiveness of Slovenian companies through the lenses of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and crisis management. Based on concepts of CSR and crisis management, we analyzed the responses of companies to ensure their competitiveness in a crisis situation. Two surveys among managers in Slovenian companies were carried out, one in March 2020 (N = 618) and the other in May 2020 (N = 486). Our results showed that internationally oriented companies responded more comprehensively and proactively to the challenges of doing business in the COVID-19 crisis compared to the companies that had operated mainly in the domestic market during this period. The analysis also showed that internationally oriented companies responded to the COVID-19 crisis with more comprehensive measures also using the concept of CSR and crisis management in comparison with companies that, in the time of the pandemic, operated mainly in the domestic market and used fewer principles of CSR and crisis management. The main theoretical implications of this survey are related to CSR development. They emphasize the interdependent importance of experience and impact in international business in connection with the concept of CSR and crisis management in times of COVID-19. Practical implications include proposals to streamline operations to maintain competitiveness and to take advantage of new business opportunities and effects, which are also encouraged through the use of the CSR concept and crisis management.

Marko Kukanja, Tanja Planinc, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study examines crisis management techniques in the catering industry. The sur- vey was conducted in the municipality of Piran, the most developed Slovenian municipality in terms of tourism and an important tourist center in the northern Mediterranean. This paper investigates the response of the catering industry to the economic crisis by analyzing the use of different micro-level crisis practices in the catering industry. The study uses a questionnaire to evaluate the importance and usage of different crisis management techniques in the catering industry. The findings indicate a high level of inconsistency between the importance and usage of crisis management techniques. Government assistance is by far the most important and most used technique in times of crisis. Suggestions for future research and useful information for managers of catering facilities are provided.

Crisis management in a private clinic during covid-19
Evgeniia Popova, 2022, magistrsko delo

Opis: Introduction: The coronavirus crisis emerged suddenly, triggering a global health crisis. And while public hospitals were coping with a huge influx of patients, and an ensuing shortage of hospital beds, private clinics were trying to survive in conditions of total work restrictions, which resulted in a lack of patients and, consequently, income. In our work, we will consider one of these clinics located in Moscow. Methods: We conducted a study in the search databases Yandex, Google Scholar, Google Books, Cobbis, Research Gate, PubMed, using the following keywords: covid, private clinic, crisis management. Those sources yielded the results which we used in writing the work. Results in Discussion: After the clinic was opened at the end of the first quarantine, it managed to enter into a state partnership programme and attract patients for testing and vaccination services against coronavirus, both for individuals and for organization employees. As a result, more than 60 percent of the patients of the clinic were employees of organizations. The recovery stage of the clinic took, according to average estimates, about six months, at which time the turnover of the clinic recovered to approximately 80 percent of the pre-crisis period. Conclusion: During the study, we found that successful crisis management is influenced by such factors as: leadership, good management, effective communication between employees, supportive atmosphere, and courage on the part of employees.

Methodology of an aircraft accident response system assessment
Franc Željko Županič, Maja Meško, Iztok Podbregar, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper investigates the ability to learn from an aircraft accident as the opportunities for learning diminish with the decline in the accident rate. A safety compromising case is studied as the processes of aircraft accident intervention and recovery can degrade the ability of an aircraft accident investigation process to enhance aviation safety by revealing accident causation. In the case study an assessment of the Slovenian aircraft accident response system was made. For the purpose of evaluating the successfulness of aircraft accident intervention and effectiveness of recovery, a model of aircraft accident response system requirements has been developed. Based on non-conformances identified by the model of requirements, remedial measures are proposed for the enhancement of the aircraft accident response system operation. Criteria for the definition of the transition from accident intervention to recovery are derived from the assessment findings in a manner not to impede the aircraft accident investigation effectiveness and efficiency.
