Sensitivity analysis of MTPA control to angle errors for synchronous reluctance machines

Opis: This study investigated the sensitivity of maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control in synchronous reluctance machines (SynRMs) to angle errors, examining specifically how deviations in the reference control trajectory affected performance. Analytical and numerical methods were employed to analyze this sensitivity systematically, including the impact of magnetic saturation. Two MTPA control implementation schemes were evaluated, with torque and current amplitude as the reference variables, using a template SynRM from the open-source simulation tool SyR-e. The results indicated that performance sensitivity to angle errors was moderately low near the MTPA trajectory, allowing for significant angle deviations with minimal performance loss. Although magnetic saturation increased this sensitivity slightly, reducing the allowable error range by up to 25%, the maximum angle deviation for up to 1% of the performance decrease still corresponded to approximately ±3∘ around the MTPA trajectory. The findings of this study suggest potential for simplifying control implementations, reducing component costs through less precise position determination (sensor-based or sensorless), and achieving additional control objectives such as torque ripple reduction.

Control of sliding entrance door with radio frequency identification

Opis: This master's thesis addresses the issue of surveillance and the right of access to protected zones. NFC technology was selected as a solution for identifying and monitoring sliding doors. The monitoring system is connected to the web server via an Internet connection, which enables easier data processing and more straightforward data access. In this master's thesis, a scaled sliding door model was used that was made using a 3D printer. The thesis also addresses the issue of powering the system using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system in the event of a power outage. The monitoring and control system is designated and implemented as a modular system consisting of a UPS, NFC, and the main module. The UPS module powers the system and ensures an uninterrupted power supply. The NFC module is used to communicate between the user of the NFC key and the system. The main module is intended for processing the data received from other modules and components in the security system, managing the sliding doors, and sending the processed data to the controller.

Modeling and control of a three-phase interleaved buck converter as a battery charger

Opis: In this paper, a control design methodology is proposed for the implementation of a three-phase interleaved buck converter as a battery charger. The control strategy consists of a multiple-loop controller in cascade configuration to implement the constant-current constant-voltage (CC-CV) protocol for the fast charging of an electric vehicle (EV) battery. To compensate for the inherent asymmetric distribution of the current between the phases, the first control loop (inner loop) is dedicated to implement the democratic current sharing technique, while the two outer loops constitute a seamless controller, which allows a soft transition from CC mode to CV mode when charging the battery. The controllers are designed using the root locus method and conventional rules for cascade controllers. The design methodology is validated and tested by numerical simulations of the switched model system implemented in PSIM software. The obtained results put in evidence a robust performance in front of input voltage and load variations, failure conditions and other parametric uncertainties. A 1.5 kW experimental prototype is implemented to charge a battery of 48 V from a 100 V DC input voltage and to validate the theoretical predictions and the simulation results. The proposal opens the way for subsequent research in ultrafast charging of batteries.

Presaditev trebušne slinavke : indikacija, kirurška tehnika, klinični pomen

Opis: Presaditev trebušne slinavke je zlati standard za zdravljenje ledvične odpovedi pri bolnikih s sladkorno boleznijo oz. pri bolnikih s sladkorno boleznijo, kjer kljub intenzivirani inzulinski terapiji ne uspemo preprečiti nastanka kroničnih zapletov sladkorne bolezni. Z napredkom kirurgije in novimi imunosupresivnimi zdravili je v zadnjih desetletjih prišlo do bistvenega izboljšanja preživetja bolnikov in presadkov ter povečane kakovosti življenja po presaditvi. Presaditev trebušne slinavke je danes metoda izbire, s katero nadomestimo endokrino funkcijo trebušne slinavke, vzpostavimo normoglikemijo in preprečimo nastanek sekundarnih zapletov sladkorne bolezni. Med presaditve trebušne slinavke prištevamo sočasno presaditev trebušne slinavke in ledvice, presaditev samo trebušne slinavke, presaditev dela trebušne slinavke ter presaditev otočkovtrebušne slinavke. Enoletno preživetje bolnikov po presaditvi trebušne slinavke znaša 96 %, petletno pa 80 %. Preživetje je najbolj optimalno pri sočasni presaditvi trebušne slinavke in ledvice.

Long-term control of hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium L.) with single, tank mixture, and sequential applications of glyphosate, 2,4-D, and dicamba

Opis: Hedge bindweed (Calystegia sepium L.) is a widespread troublesome perennial weed species that has strong rhizome regenerative capacity. Four pot trials with randomised, complete block designs were conducted in 2015 to evaluate long-term control of hedge bindweed using individual, tank mixture, and sequential applications of selected herbicides. Two different formulations of N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine (glyphosate; isopropylamine, trimesium salts) were applied at 2000 g active ingredient (a.i.) ha−1. Additionally, two synthetic auxins were applied as 3,6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid (dicamba) at 500 g a.i. ha−1 and the dimethylamine salt of (2,4 dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid (2,4-D) at 1000 g a.i. ha−1. Tank mixtures and sequential applications (12/24 h separation) of these different herbicides were also included. Long-term control of hedge bindweed, Calystegia sepium L., growth was evaluated 8 months after treatments, as comparisons of shoot and rhizome growth (biomass) between untreated and treated plants. There were no differences between the two formulations of glyphosate alone, with shoot and rhizome biomass reductions of 83% and 42%, respectively. Dicamba alone inhibited shoot and rhizome biomass by 86% and 67%, respectively. By itself, 2,4-D provided the greatest reductions in shoot and rhizome biomasses, 93% and 79%, respectively. Antagonism was seen in the tank mixtures of glyphosate and dicamba or 2,4-D. Tank mixtures were generally comparable to treatments of glyphosate alone, and were less effective compared to dicamba or 2,4-D alone. The greatest reduction of bindweed rhizome biomass was for sequential glyphosate trimesium salt followed by 2,4-D 12 h later, thus showing significantly greater efficacy over glyphosate isopropylamine salt (94% vs. 84%; p ≤ 0.05). These data for reductions of the growth of the rhizome biomass show that the sequential application of glyphosate followed by 2,4-D significantly improves long-term control of hedge bindweed.

Determination of neutron flux redistribution factors for a typical pressurized water reactor ex-core measurements using Monte Carlo technique

Opis: In a typical pressurized water reactor, neutron detectors located outside the reactor core monitor reactor power. In addition, they are also used to measure the reactivity of the control rods. A novel approach to calculate the ex-core neutron detector response in a typical pressurized water reactor using the Monte Carlo technique is presented. A detailed ex-core model of the Krško nuclear power plant was developed using the Monte Carlo neutron transport code MCNP. Due to the location of the ex-core neutron detectors, the hybrid code ADVANTG is used to generate variance reduction parameters to accelerte the convergence of the results outside the reactor core. To use ADVANTG, the fixed neutron source had to be reconstructed from the criticality core calculation. This paper presents the sensitivity analysis of the response of the ex-core detectors to the neutron data libraries used, the description of the fixed neutron source and the ADVANTG parameters. It was found that a pin-wise description of the neutron source for at least two rows of fuel assemblies at the core periphery is necessary for accurate results. Our results show the importance of a correct description of the prompt neutron spectra in the high energy region and the impact this has on the response of the ex-core detectors. The method in which the prompt neutron fission spectra for important fission nuclides are weighted by the calculated reaction rates has been shown to be the best approximation, with deviations from the reference calculation within statistical uncertainty. The effect of nuclear data libraries on the response of the ex-core detector was investigated, and the difference between the ENDF/B-VII.0 and the ENDF/B-VIII.0 nuclear data libraries was ∼11%. When the deficient evaluation of the 56Fe isotope included in the ENDF/B-VIII.0 nuclear data library was replaced by the improved evaluation from the IAEA INDEN project, the differences decreased to ∼3.7%. In addition, neutron flux redistributions due to control rod movement were investigated and flux redistribution factors were updated using Monte Carlo particle transport methods. The reaction rate redistribution factors obtained with methods presented in this paper are within 1% agreement with the currently used factors.

Electricity prices and consumer behavior, case study Serbia - randomized control trials method

Opis: The aim of this research was to identify energy saving instructions effect on household’s electricity consumption. The research was conducted using Randomized Control Trials, which implied defining a treatment and control group on a sample of 330 households. The research was carried out in Republic of Serbia, where electricity prices are the lowest in Europe and electricity is used inefficiently. For quantitative analysis of data, the Difference in Difference method was used, which compares the changes in electricity consumption over time between the treatment and control group and estimates the overall impact of the energy saving instructions. The research showed that in situations where electricity price is very low, energy saving information does not have the significant impact on change in consumer behavior. However, inefficient use of electricity might be due to the different efficiency of heating devices used. Not only that the low impact of information on energy saving habits may be a consequence of the low will to change habit, but also of the impossibility to change the habit (unless changing the heating device, but this implies expenditures). Results can be used for consideration of changes in organization and regulation of the electricity market in all South Eastern European countries (SEE).

The importance of labeling products with a GMO or non-GMO label

Opis: The article is based on publicly available data, namely on European legislation and on publicly available instructions or recommendations/guidelines dealing with the field of GMO labelling in Slovenia. The importance of labelling GMO-free products and GMO-labelled products was analysed using a comparative research method. The analysis is based on a comparison of the basic terms with each other (i.e., GMO-labelled products, non-GMO-labelled products). It also is based on a review of the legal definition of the terms and on control over the use of the terms. The purpose of this paper is to define an important difference between the two concepts, which are hidden and (or) not defined for most consumers.

Stability analysis of the singular points and Hopf bifurcations of a tumor growth control model

Opis: We carry out qualitative analysis of a fourth-order tumor growth control model using ordinary differential equations. We show that the system has one positive equilibrium point, and its stability is independent of the feedback gain. Using a Lyapunov function method, we prove that there exist realistic parameter values for which the systems admit limit cycle oscillations due to a supercritical Hopf bifurcation. The time evolution of the state variables is also represented.

Sustainable varroa mite (Varroa destructor) control in field conditions

Opis: Experiments assessed the comparative efficacy of oxalic acid solution (OA) and combination of formic acid (FA) evaporation and trickling OA to control the honey bee mite, Varroa destructor, at two apiary locations. Queen caging, consecutive OA treatments of broodless colonies, or combined treatments using OA and FA in colonies with brood increased mite mortality (P < 0.05) in comparison to the pre-treatment period. FA application in colonies with brood in September and October resulted in an average mite mortality of 18% in the first apiary and subsequent FA applications in the same period in the second apiary killed, on average, 73% and 71% of mites; respectively. OA treatment of broodless colonies after queen caging at two apiaries resulted in 18% and 47% mite mortality. Caging the queens and OA treatments in broodless colonies or subsequently use consecutive OA or FA treatments ensure adequate mite reduction before wintering the colonies. Synergistic control methods of Varroa mites using OA and FA along with queen caging is discussed.
