Employing visualisation techniques and tools for educational purposes in textile studies

Opis: Modern textile and clothing manufacturers can today use the entire range of conventional CAD/CAM systems together with new computer graphics and Internet-based technologies in order to strengthen their position on the market, building a completely new electronic-business offer. Graphical presentation of textile products and processing, or visualisation, presents a promising technology that can be treated as a potential enrichment of conventional computer aided technologies used today by the majority of advanced producers of textile fabrics, clothing, and other textile products. The article presents the results of research on designing computer software for visualising the fabric dyeing process. The program package produced enables the effective visualisation of two fabric dyeing processes: a Pad-Batch machine line for dyeing flat textiles in open-width state, and an HT overflow dyeing machine for fabric dyeing in rope form. Graphical applications of both dyeing processes can be used for both industrial and educational purposes. In this article, we focus more on presenting the program structure and functionalities for using the software to support the education of textile students.

The advance engineering methods to plan the behaviour of fused panel

Opis: The purpose of this paper is to analyse some mechanical properties and parameters of drapability using different methods from two different points of research area: knowledge bases and numerical modelling using the finite element method. The approach consists of analysing some mechanical properties and parameters of drapability using different methods from two different points of research areaČ knowledge bases and numerical modelling using the finite element method. The knowledge bases, named FP_B-1 and FPO_B-2, were used to analyse the bending rigidity of fused panels. The numerical model of fused panel NMFP is used to analyse parameters of drapability. Findings - Based on the analyses of bending rigidity and draping of fused panels the conclusions indicate the significance of interaction between mechanical properties and parameters of drapability of thefused panel to garment appearance. Furthermore, the methods used present a computer approach to the study of the fused panel properties important for thecomputer-based engineering and the presentation of real behaviour of all aspects of clothes. This numerical model of a fused panel enables a 3D observation of this aspect of clothes which is a behaviour, very important contribution to the computer planning of the behaviour of produced clothes. Originality is in a better understanding of how to construct fused panels in clothing.

Pants for a sitting position

Opis: People with limited limbs movement have problems with finding suitable clothing for them. Especially the wheelchair users, since they are spending all day in a sitting position. Therefore, they need clothing, which is comfortable, functional and aesthetic at the same time. The main aim of this diploma thesis was to develop a basic pattern design of the women’s pants that are specially designed to provide comfort when sitting all day in a wheelchair. The body dimension was measured for the three tested persons needed for construction of the women's pants basic pattern design. The pants pattern design was constructed for a standing and a sitting position. A comparison and fit analysis of pants for a standing and sitting position was carried out and procedure for construction of the made-to measure women’s pants basic pattern design for a sitting position was proposed.

Intercultural differences in the purchase and information behaviour of young consumers

Opis: Pressures in the contemporary marketing environment are getting bigger and companies and marketers are required to know consumers and their purchase and information behaviour. In this article we studied the behaviour of consumers and the factors of purchase and information behaviour of young consumers when choosing clothes. We found out about the meaning of individual clothing characteristics having impact on the purchase decision making (price, trademark, fitting of clothing, design, quality, etc.). Consumers receive and look for information at different sources (radio commercials, TV commercials and shows, fashion magazines, catalogue sales, social networks, friends and acquaintances, etc.). With the empiric research we wanted to find out to what measure individual sources influence the purchase decision of an individual. We studied young people aged from 15 to 24 in the countries of the EU (Slovenia, Austria and Germany) and the United States of America. We especially focused on characteristic differences. Knowing intercultural differences is important for global companies of the clothing industry for forming their marketing strategies. On the sample of 440 young people who took part in the survey we found out that intercultural differences exist regarding the influence of individual information sources and regarding the factors of purchase decision making. Considering the stated we propose companies operating in global markets on both continents to prepare differentiated marketing strategies.
