1. Digital transformation and business model innovation: enhancing productivity in the Croatian maritime transport sectorMarija Jović Mihanović, Saša Aksentijević, Edvard Tijan, Gregor Lenart, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This research investigates how business model changes induced by digital transformation impact productivity within the maritime transport sector in Croatia. Given the
limited existing literature addressing digital transformation’s productivity implications,
specifically in maritime contexts, this study aims to identify and analyze key mediating factors. An online survey conducted among Croatian maritime transport stakeholders resulted in 82 valid responses, which were statistically analyzed using descriptive
statistics, Spearman’s correlation, and principal component analysis (PCA). The study
identifies two primary dimensions of business model changes—innovation and process
digitalization—that significantly correlate with increased productivity. Key influencing
factors include the digitalization of internal and external business processes, development
of new digital revenue streams, introduction of innovative services, and novel pricing
models. Results underscore the importance of targeted digital transformation initiatives
and serve as a valuable reference for maritime transport stakeholders, aiming to enhance
their productivity and competitiveness through digital innovation.

2. Blockchain as an instrument for improving banking processesBojana Vukovljak, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: One of the best-known innovations of the recent past is blockchain. Due to its
usability, it has generated considerable interest in several economic areas. A
decentralised system's approach can potentially reshape existing industries or
make them redundant. Such technology can add a new dimension to processes,
which is particularly relevant for the banking sector in the future. This
demonstrates a great necessity to deal with blockchain with respect to market
position and competition. This paper aims to provide insight into the current
potential of blockchain applications in banking procedures. The benefits of
process improvement in the financial sector are also outlined. This research
shows that many experiences and adequate knowledge are already available.
According to recent research, this technology will benefit banks’ business
models, performance, and capabilities. However, blockchain is still in the phase
of research and development, which is a crucial aspect of the banking industry. Ključne besede: blockchain, financial sector, banking sector, business model, innovation Objavljeno v DKUM: 01.09.2023; Ogledov: 329; Prenosov: 226

3. Business model innovation: insights from a multiple case study of Slovenian SMEsMarjeta Marolt, Gregor Lenart, Damjan Maletič, Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar, Andreja Pucihar, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and Purpose: Business model innovation (BMI) has become increasingly important, especially in the fast changing business environment. While large enterprises approach these changes systematically, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) are left to their own resourcefulness. For the purpose of developing dedicated methods and tools to support different SMEs in addressing these challenges, we have conducted a multiple case study to gain insights into factors that drive SMEs to innovate their BM, how they approach BMI and what changes they made to their BM.
Design/Methodology/Approach: First the framework of analysis was developed based on BMI research frameworks identified in literature review. Then the multiple case studies were conducted following the case study protocol developed by Envision project.
Results: Based on the proposed framework the results of four Slovene SME cases revealed differences between enterprises regarding the drivers behind BMI and changes in usage of the different BMI elements.
Conclusion: Overall, the results suggest all four SMEs, coming from different sectors, are facing BMI challenges without systematically addressing it and without using any dedicated BM ontologies or tools.
