A strategic model for sustainable business policy development
Tjaša Štrukelj, Jelena Nikolić, Dejana Zlatanović, Simona Sternad Zabukovšek, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Growing importance of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and business ethics requires various types of contemporary organisations innovation. This research assesses the problem related to business policy innovation (BPI), which represents organisational governance determination. The main purpose of the paper is to qualitatively and quantitatively present a new, requisitely holistic strategic model of the soft factors influencing BPI, which interdependently incorporates changes in organisational values, culture and business ethics, as well as stakeholders’ interests reconciliation, thus determine soft possibilities for more sustainable business policy, management and practice. While the relevance of these factors for business policy is in the literature widely recognized, there is a small amount of empirical research on their influence on BPI. To mitigate this research gap, advanced structural equation modelling (SEM) based partial least squares (PLS) method was used for analysing data of 734 organisations in Slovenia, the EU state. The research results show that researched soft factors organisational values, culture and stakeholders’ interests reconciliation statistically confirmed influence BPI. Thus, these recognitions can be used as the basis for strategic managerial decision making towards social responsibility and sustainability of an organisation. Reasons why it has not been statistically confirmed that business ethics influence BPI needs to be investigated in future research.

Organizational culture in service sector : scientific monograph
Irena Gorenak, 2015, znanstvena monografija

Opis: In every organization various modes of behaviour of the employees, their various activities, interpersonal relationships and customs can be observed. In some organizations the employees are all on first-namebasis, still in others they address themselves formally. In some organizations the employees use academic titles and surnames; still in others they call themselves by names, only. In some organizations each employee has its own office, whereas in others they are all use one office, which may be separated by improvised walls. In some organizations the employees celebrate personal holidays together, whereas in others they do not. In some organizations they pose each other obstacles and obstruct each other’s work, but in others no such misconduct can be detected. Differences may also be observed within one single organization. Differences are even greater and more noticeable in cases of organizations from other environments, neighbouring countries or even from other continents. In the business world the differences are present, they should be recognized, and the existing diversity should be tolerated; however, this is not enough; diversity should also be understood and made use of to the benefit of everybody. Significant behaviour of the group of people within an organization, or at its work, in a country or a state is described by the term of culture, which can simply be defined as: “This is the way we operate, act, aim at. This is the way we work …”. It is a question of the mode of behaviour of people within an organization, among themselves and towards others, of their customs and habits, and of all the characteristics of behaviour in an organization in a wider sense. Culture is an organizational factor, directly linked to all the other elements of the organization, its environment and every individual. Every activity, change or behaviour is reflected also on the culture and vice versa, every change of culture triggers the changes in every other area of organization. For this reason it is important to manage the culture, as this is beneficial for the organization as a whole and every individual, in particular.

Ethics of managers in Slovenian public administration
Zlatko Nedelko, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The main purpose of this paper is to examine how managers´ personal values and managers´ attitudes towards the natural and social environment are shaping the ethics of those same managers in public administration. The findings are based on a sample of 212 managers from Slovenian public administration. Personal values were measured using the Schwartz value survey, while attitudes toward natural and social environment were measured with a validated questionnaire. Results show that managers´ self-enhancing values are positively related to their attitudes toward both natural and social environment and their ethics. Managers´ self-transcendence values were found to be negatively associated with their attitudes toward the social environment and their ethics. Managers´ attitudes toward natural and social environment are both positively related with the managers´ ethics. The mediation effect of the attitudes towards the social environment on the relationships between managers´ personal values and their ethics is positive and significant. The main cognition is that managers´ attitudes towards the social environment are a significantly stronger predictor of managers´ ethics than are managers´ personal values.
