1. Exploring the role of perceived benefits and attitudes toward web in modelling online purchase intentions : a case of SloveniaMiha Marič, Gašper Jordan, Robert Leskovar, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background and Purpose: E-commerce has reshaped consumer behaviour by offering unparalleled convenience, variety and accessibility, while creating new opportunities for businesses to grow revenues. Despite its prominence, there remains a need for parsimonious models that explain online purchase intention in terms of core consumer perceptions. This study aims to develop and test a structural equation model (SEM) in which consumer perceived benefits and attitudes toward the web drive intention to purchase online. Methods: An online survey was administered to 190 Slovenian consumers. Questionnaire items were drawn from established scales measuring (a) perceived benefits of online shopping, (b) attitude toward the web, and (c) online purchase intention. Internal consistency was assessed via Cronbach’s alpha. SEM was then applied using IBM SPSS AMOS to evaluate both measurement and structural components of the model, testing hypotheses that perceived benefits influence both attitude and intention, and that attitude further mediates intention. Results: The survey instrument demonstrated excellent reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.92). The three-construct SEM explained 74 % of the variance in online purchase intention. Fit indices indicated very good model performance (NFI = 0.969, NNFI = 0.970, CFI = 0.979, IFI = 0.979). All hypothesized paths were significant, confirming that higher perceived benefits enhance both positive web attitudes and purchase intentions, and that web attitudes further bolster intention. Conclusion: This streamlined SEM offers a robust and well-fitting explanation of consumer online purchase intentions. E-commerce platforms can leverage these insights by emphasizing the specific benefits consumers value and cultivating positive web experiences to drive sales. The model offers both practical guidance for online retailers and a foundation for future research, such as incorporating environmental consciousness, to refine our understanding of sustainable e-commerce adoption. 3. Public attitudes towards artificial intelligence and its applicationsTomaž Gjergjek, 2025, magistrsko delo Opis: In this master’s thesis, we researched how people perceive artificial intelligence (AI) and the factors that shape their attitudes. Understanding public attitudes toward AI is crucial for ensuring its responsible development and deployment, aligning technological progress with societal expectations, and addressing ethical and social concerns.
The primary goal of this study was to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the public forms attitudes toward AI and how these are influenced by perceived threats, societal benefits, and trust in institutions involved in AI development. The theoretical part reviewed the literature on the foundations of attitudes and on public perceptions of artificial intelligence, providing an essential framework for the empirical analysis.
In the empirical part, a survey was conducted to explore public attitudes toward AI. Respondents were asked about their perceptions of AI as a potential threat, its societal benefits, their level of trust in institutions and companies responsible for AI, and their overall stance toward the technology. The results revealed that individuals who perceive AI as a threat to their jobs or privacy tend to hold significantly more negative attitudes. In contrast, perceived societal benefits and institutional trust did not show a statistically significant impact on overall attitudes toward AI.
These findings highlight that personal concerns play a greater role than broader societal considerations or institutional trust. They also underline the importance of addressing individual fears and enhancing transparency in the development and deployment of AI technologies. Although the study faces limitations, such as a non-representative sample and reliance on self-reported survey data, it provides important insights into the complexity of public attitudes toward AI.
Future research should include longitudinal and cross-cultural studies, as well as a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, to capture the dynamic and multifaceted nature of public perceptions. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of how AI is perceived and emphasizes the need for a responsible, ethical, and socially sensitive approach to its integration into society. 4. Public attitudes towards artificial intelligence : the impact of perceived threats, potential benefits vs. risks, and trustMatjaž Iršič, Tomaž Gjergjek, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Understanding public attitudes toward artificial intelligence (AI) is crucial for shaping the responsible development and deployment of AI technologies, aligning them with public expectations, and addressing societal concerns and ethical considerations. The goal of this research was to gain a comprehensive understanding of how the public in general as well as customers in exchange process perceive AI and the factors that influence these perceptions. Our research problem based around researching the complex relationships between various aspects of AI, suchas perceived threats, societal benefits, trust in AI institutions, and overall attitudes toward AI. We laid the groundwork in the theoretical part by researching existing knowledge about theoretical foundations of attitudes, about AI, and the attitudes ofpublic towards AI. This theoretical background provided essential context for our research into public attitudes toward AI. In the empirical part, we conducted a detailed survey based on stratified sample of adult population of the Republic of Slovenia (n= 205-209) to gather data on how the public feels about AI. This involved asking participants about their views on AI as a potential threat, its societal benefits, the level of trust they have in institutions and companies responsible for AI, and their overall attitudes toward AI. In our study, we found that individuals who perceive AI as a potential threat to their jobs or privacy tend to hold more negative attitudes toward AI. Interestingly, our research revealed that whether people think AI is beneficial for society or poses risks does not have a strong impact on their overall views about AI. Equally surprising, our results suggest that trust in institutions and companies involved in AI development does not appear to be a major factor in shaping public attitudes toward AI. These findings offer a detailed perspective on how the public views AI. They carry significant implications for policymakers, businesses, and AI developers, highlighting the importance of responsible AI development. It is crucial to address personal concerns and work on building trust and confidence in AI technologies among the public. 5. The influence of benefits and trust on consumers’ attitudes towards artificial intelligence : the moderating role of threatsMatjaž Iršič, Tomaž Gjergjek, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background/Purpose
This article explores consumers’ perception of the benefits of intelligent service robots (ISR) in the purchasing process, their trust in artificial intelligence (AI), their perception of AI-related threats, and the impact of these variables on consumer attitudes toward AI. Additionally, the study examines the moderating effect of perceived AI-related threats on the relationship between perceived benefits and trust on one side and the formation of consumer attitudes toward AI on the other.
Methods
The research was conducted in the first half of 2024 on a judgmental sample of 224 employed consumers in the Republic of Slovenia. Data were collected through a structured online questionnaire. For the empirical analysis, a non-parametric approach using SEM-PLS modelling was applied to examine relationships between the studied research constructs.
Results
The findings indicate that perceived benefits of ISR have a strong and positive impact on consumer attitudes toward AI, while perceived AI-related threats strongly and negatively influence these attitudes. Moreover, the results reveal that perceived AI-related threats significantly and negatively moderate the effect of consumers’ perceived trust in AI on the formation of their attitudes toward AI.
Conclusion
The results of this study contribute significantly to the theoretical understanding of employed consumers’ attitudes toward AI. They also provide practical implications for companies in developing predictive models of consumer behaviour and defining effective marketing strategies to encourage AI adoption in the purchasing process.

6. Analysis of workers’ perception and demographic factors : an insight into the Slovenian gig economyMatevž Antloga, Ivona Huđek, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This study examines the gig economy in Slovenia, with a particular
emphasis on the perceived benefits and challenges for gig workers
within this emerging labour model. The research aims to capture the
implications of flexible, project-based employment in a smaller
European context, as this trend becomes increasingly prevalent
globally. A quantitative approach was employed to survey 34 gig
workers in Slovenia. The survey analysed their demographic
characteristics, reasons for engaging in gig work, and the benefits and
challenges they experience. In the findings, 64% of respondents
specifically identified schedule flexibility as a predominant benefit of
gig work. However, it also uncovers substantial challenges, including
increased market competition and a lack of social benefits. Moreover,
the research suggests that perceptions of the gig work benefits are
widely acknowledged across various age groups and educational levels,
with no significant variation. Nevertheless, the findings indicate a
gender disparity in gig work perceptions, with males perceiving higher
levels of financial freedom and professional development than women.
This research suggests the need for policies aimed at ensuring equity
and further research into harmonizing gig work with supportive labour
market policies. Ključne besede: gig economy, flexibility, professional development, social benefits, demographic disparities Objavljeno v DKUM: 28.05.2025; Ogledov: 0; Prenosov: 18

7. Knowledge of fermentation and health benefits among general population in North-eastern SloveniaMaja Šikić Pogačar, Dušanka Mičetić-Turk, Sabina Fijan, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background: Fermented foods are staples of the human diet and fermentation process has been used by humans for thousands of years. The preparation of fermented foods was performed in the past without knowledge of the role of microorganisms involved. Nowadays, fermented foods, due to their proclaimed health benefits for consumers, are becoming increasingly popular. Our study was constructed to provide data on awareness and use of fermented foods among people in North-eastern Slovenia.
Methods: The cross-sectional study included 349 individuals (16–89 years of age). An online survey was designed to assess the participants' knowledge of fermentation, fermented foods, the consumption of fermented foods and awareness of the health benefits. Data were collected from March to June 2021 and analyzed using IBM SPSS 27.0.
Results: Compared with the youngest participants (< 21 years) knowledge of fermentation was higher in older individuals (p < 0.001). More than a half of the participants recognized the role of lactic acid bacteria and yeasts in fermentation process, however, only 18.3% of participants were aware of the role of the molds. Only 25.9% of the participants have become acquainted with fermented foods at home and 62.2% of them were aware of health benefits of fermented foods, but mostly on gastrointestinal health and the immune system.
Conclusions: As people today live predominantly in urban areas and incline towards westernized foods, they often lack the knowledge of fermentation and awareness regarding the nutritional value of fermented foods and their preparation. Steps should be taken to educate younger generations regarding the health benefits of fermented foods especially considering that most of them expressed their interest in learning more about the process. 10. Challenges and advantages of recycling wrought aluminium alloys from lower grades of metallurgically clean scrapVaružan Kevorkijan, 2013, pregledni znanstveni članek Opis: In the recycling of wrought aluminium alloys from lower grades of scrap (metallurgically clean but highly contaminated with non-metallic impurities) the following two tasks were identified as the most demanding: (i) achieving the required final chemical composition of an alloy with a minimal addition of primary aluminium and alloying elements; and (ii) keeping the level of impurities (inclusions, hydrogen, trace elements and alkali metals) in the molten metal below the critical level. Because of the lack of chemically based refining processes for reducing the concentration of alloying and trace elements in the molten aluminium, once the concentrations of these constituents in the melt exceed the corresponding concentration limits, the only practical solution for their reduction would be an appropriate dilution with primary metal. To avoid such a costly correction, carefully predicting and ensuring the chemical composition of the batch in the pre-melting stage of casting should be applied. Fortunately, some of the impurities, like hydrogen and alkali metals, as well as various (mostly exogeneous) inclusions, could be successfully reduced by employing existing refining procedures. In this work, (i) the state-of-the-art technologies, including some emerging technical topics such as the evolution of wrought alloys toward scrap-intensive compositions, monitoring of the content of organics in the incoming scrap and the quality of molten metal achieved by different smelting and refining technologies, and (ii) the relevant economic advantages of the recycling of wrought aluminium alloys from the lower grades of scrap are reported. By analyzing the market prices of various grades of scrap and the total cost of their recycling, the cost of aluminium ingots made from recycled aluminium was modelled as a function of aluminium and the alloying-element content in the incoming scrap. Furthermore, scrap mixtures for producing aluminium wrought alloys of standard quality from lower grades of scrap and with a significant new added value were illustrated.
