2. Development of an automated measurement system for UWB Radar : master's thesisTomaž Leopold, 2022, magistrsko delo Opis: Ultra-wideband is becoming a key technological element in the consumer industry, providing a safe and reliable way to enable more precise location services as well as secure access to a multitude of systems. Ultra-wideband radar is a subset of that technology, providing not only device-free localization techniques but also complementing expensive medical-level devices or providing means to measure vital signs in a more accessible way. Ultra-wideband radars embedded in smart devices like smartphones can be used for presence detection, gesture recognition, and vital sign monitoring (i.e., breathing detection and heart rate monitoring). Ultra-wideband radar is still in development, and during that process it needs to be well-tested to match the customers’ expectations and standards that apply to the technology. In this master’s thesis, we start by providing a brief overview of ultra-wideband technology. Then we propose and develop an automated measurement system for UWB radar that tests the radio frequency functionality of a radar device, its compliance with standards, frequency regulations, and use-case testing. Performing measurements to test the aforementioned radar devices is a time-consuming and cumbersome task that can be replaced by our developed automated measurement system. We demonstrate the advantages in terms of reduced measurement time and improved test reproducibility, resulting in a well-tested ultra-wideband radar device during the development cycle. 3. RISK MANAGEMENT SUPPORT SYSTEMSValeriia Grigoreva, 2017, magistrsko delo Opis: The topic of this Master’s Thesis is risk management support systems for banking industry. The research was focused on Russian Federation banking system.
Risk management is an important part of bank management. The banking sector is one of the most sensitive ones for currency fluctuation, economical as well as political instability. And it is necessary to be able to forecast future risks and prepare the banks to meet them, as well as to create the most suitable way to treat these risks.
Risk management in banks has changed substantially over the past ten years. In conditions of uncertainty and rapidly changing world banks have to introduce innovative approaches and mechanisms to risk management. Now banks use IT tools and automated systems for managing the risk.
The case study was chosen for empirical part of research. As an example, the largest bank of Russian Federation banking industry – PJSC “Sberbank” was taken. The empirical analysis was conducted with two research hypotheses. The purpose of H1 was to define the stage of use of automated risk management systems in Russia. It was accepted; the Russian banking sector is on early stage of use IT tools. However, the Russian software market is developing rapidly and can be called catching up. The purpose of H2 was to analyze the risk management support systems in the selected bank. The hypothesis was confirmed; the most important functionality of automated risk management system in Sberbank is credit risk management. Credit risk gives the bank "work". Credit operations of commercial banks are one of the most important types of banking activity. In the financial market, lending retains the position of the most lucrative asset line of credit institutions, although the most risky. The loan portfolio of banks averages 50‒70% of assets. Consequently, the credit risk in the structure of banking risk has a decisive influence on the performance of banks. The effectiveness of credit risk management is very important in the management of banking risk. Ključne besede: bank, risk, risk management, support system, IT-tools, automated systems, Russia. 4. Reactivation system for proton-exchange membrane fuel-cellsCarlos Restrepo, Oriol Avino, Javier Calvente, Alfonzo Romero, Miro Milanovič, Roberto Giral, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In recent years, Proton-Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) have been the focus of very intensive researches. Manufacturers of these alternative power sources propose a rejuvenation sequence after the FC has been operating at high power for a certain period of time. These rejuvenation methods could be not appropriate for the reactivation of the FC when it has been out of operation for a long period of time or after it has been repaired. Since the developed reactivation system monitors temperature, current, and the cell voltages of the stack, it could be also useful for the diagnostic and repairing processes. The limited number of published contributions suggests that systems developing reactivation techniques are an open research field. In this paper, an automated system for reactivating PEMFCs and results of experimental testing are presented. 5. Automated and intelligent programming of cnc machine tools : doctoral thesisAfrim Gjelaj, 2014, doktorska disertacija Opis: Nowadays, many scientists focus on increasing the level of automation, respectively flexibility in manufacturing systems. In addition, automated programming of CNC machine tools has reached a high level of machining operations. However, it is still impossible for a machine to manipulate completely in an autonomous way. Special attention in this doctoral thesis is focused on the automated programming of CNC machine tools regarding artificial intelligence. The purpose of automated programming is to improve quality and to fulfil the requirements of manufacturing industry and provide commercial solutions. This thesis also provides a description of artificial intelligence usage in order to solve optimal tool path-length and tool selection, as well as the preparation of planned technology. Firstly, the automated programming of CNC machine tools enjoys great success when applying artificial intelligence in regard to the machining processes. Choices of path length and tool selection are analysed in great detail in order to ascertain the optimal problems of tool path- length and tool selection. However, in order to achieve automated and intelligent CNC programming of machine tools, their flexibilities are of major importance. Automation today tends to improve and implement manufacturing flexibility at a strategic level. This means increasing the degree of flexibility whilst at the same time increasing the degree of automation regarding CNC machine tools. In addition to the above-mentioned investigated problems, the influences of cutting force (Fc), power cutting (Pc), tool life (T) and surface roughness (Ra) as functions of tool path- length are also analysed. Analytical and mathematical models are optimised using a multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). MOGA enables optimisation by employing two or more equations simultaneously. Another problem for the automated and intelligent CNC programming of machine tools focuses on the application of Discrete Systems (DS). The discrete system in our work focuses on analysing cutting force (Fc) in regard to the turning operation. 6. Designing automated warehouses by minimising investment cost using genetic algorithmsTone Lerher, Iztok Potrč, Matjaž Šraml, 2010, objavljeni znanstveni prispevek na konferenci Opis: The successful performance of the automated storage and retrieval systems is dependent upon the appropriate design and optimization process. In the present work a comprehensive model of designing automated storage and retrieval system for the single- and multi-aisle systems is presented. Because of the required conditions that the automated storage and retrieval systems should be technically highly efficient and that it should be designed on reasonable expenses, the objective function represents minimum total cost. The objective function combines elements of layout, time-dependant part, the initial investment and the operational costs. Due to the non-linear, multi-variable and discrete shape of the objective function, the method of genetic algorithms has been used for the optimization process of decision variables. The presented model prove to be very useful and flexible tool for choosing a particular type of the single- or multi-aisle system in designing automated storage and retrieval systems. Computational analysis of the design model indicates the model suitability for addressing industry size problems.
