Opis: This research was carried out among the winners of the Slovenian business excellence prize (PRSPO), finalists and those who received special diplomas as a recognition level reached by applicants in implementing the business excellence model. Based on the findings of the research, we defined eight steps that organizations can consider as a guide on the path towards excellence.
The purpose of the study was to examine how the previous winners of the PRSPO began their journey towards excellence, which were the key factors, what problems they encountered and how they managed to win the diploma or award.
The analysis of the survey showed that the ISO 9001 standard is considered a first step towards the Slovenian business excellence award - in fact, it is a prerequisite for further improvements in the organization. The second step involves top management commitment and support for the introduction of excellence into business processes. The top management, in cooperation with all the employees, defines the areas for improvement and also confirms the method of implementation, both conceptually and financially. It is also necessary to take environmental aspects into consideration, which is provided by a third step along with the introduction of the ISO 14001. Once an organization defines the processes, it begins to introduce the business excellence model in the fourth step and carries out the self-assessment process. The key opportunities for improvement identified by the self-assessment process are further introduced in the business. In doing so, the organization can use various quality management approaches (the fifth step) and the first application for the PRSPO. In the sixth step, the organization encourages its employees to follow continuous education and innovation and, in the seventh step, participates again in the competition for the Slovenian business excellence award. As the required business excellence level is achieved, the organization receives the award for business excellence (PRSPO).

Is variety of species-rich semi-natural Mesobromion grasslands detectable with functional approach?Mitja Kaligarič

, 2005, izvirni znanstveni članek
Opis: The aim of the study was to compare how the relevés of species-rich dry grasslands (classis Festuco-Brometea) in Central and Eastern Slovenia differ among each other on the basis of floristic composition and of 11 Plant Functional Traits (PFTs). On the basis of floristic structure and cover values, the relevés were classified in three well separated clusters. In the PCA ordination, the first axes suggested a gradient of soil pH, while the second, floristically based gradient, was interpreted as soil humidity. On the basis of selected traits, 3 PFTs were clustered, but not clearly interpreted. Despite differences in environmental parameters across Slovenia (climate, geographical position, altitude, soil conditions) and variety of land use disturbances - drivers of floristic variety, no discernible difference in vegetation structure in terms of selected plant traits were perceived by PCA ordination. It could be concluded that secondary dry grasslands share rather uniform functional types with not clearly detectable structural differences among them.

INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE: METHODS AND PROBLEMS RELATED TO SUCH LEARNINGDoroteja Hadner
, 2016, diplomsko delo
Opis: The thesis presents a topic that is nowadays very current in the field of education, even though it takes places outside of school, and that is individualized learning a foreign language. More and more children need additional help with acquisition and understanding of a foreign language and for this reason, the purpose of this thesis was to present individualized learning, to explore different approaches and methods of language teaching, which have evolved over the years and have been the subject of research and opinions of various authors. For learners, certain elements presented a big obstacle in learning a foreign language, which is why the thesis also presents different techniques of learning vocabulary and grammar according to various authors, which are also compared with our personal experiences, gained from individualized learning. The empirical part was based on a research, where we compared English examination tests of two learners, who attended individualized learning through all four years of secondary school. In each year, we made an analysis of both tests individually, compared learners’ mistakes and progress, and gave solutions to improve learners’ knowledge and understanding of a foreign language. Furthermore, we compared our personal experiences based on individualized learning with experiences and suggestions of other authors in connection with the use of different methods and approaches, and with learning vocabulary and grammar. Through theory and research, where the descriptive and comparative research method was used, we discovered that individualized learning was and will remain a very useful and effective tool in learning a foreign language, which gave learners excellent results at school, enriched their experience with the foreign language and most importantly, it raised their self-confidence in using a foreign language.
