The impact of information systems on project success in a hybrid work environment: evidence from the world's largest consulting firm
Marko Samardzic, Teodora Vuckovic, Danijela Ciric Lalic, Iztok Palčič, Uglješa Marjanović, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study investigated the impact of information systems (IS) success on Project Success (PS) within hybrid and remote work environments, drawing empirical evidence from the world's largest consulting firm. By integrating the DeLone and McLean IS success model with established PS frameworks, the research examined how IS components—system quality, user satisfaction, and use/ intent to use—influence key PS dimensions: project management success, impact on the team, impact on the customer, and project investment success. Data from 198 employees were analyzed using structural equation modeling, confirming all hypothesized relationships. Results revealed that IS net benefits significantly enhance PS across all dimensions, while system quality and user satisfaction further drive IS effectiveness. The study underscores the critical role of robust digital infrastructure in optimizing project outcomes, offering theoretical insights and practical recommendations for organizations navigating hybrid work models. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.

Cessante ratione legis, cessat ipsa lex? : data and privacy protection in the digitized energy sector amidst green and digital transformation processes
Zoran Dimović, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The ex ante regulation of green and digital transformation processes is set to significantly impact personal data and privacy protection in the digitalized energy sector. Although the drive for digitization aligns with EU values, goals, and objectives, it does not inherently ensure compliance with fundamental human rights. While general rules for personal data and privacy protection are sufficiently flexible to allow for appropriate interpretation, implementing sector-specific human rights regulations would enhance legal certainty. This is particularly crucial given the heightened sensitivity of the electricity sector compared to natural gas or heat. The observed lack of standardization in the digitalization of the energy sector is likely to become even more pronounced with the continued development of digital technologies. This increasing complexity underscores the need for comprehensive regulatory frameworks that address both the opportunities and challenges presented by the green and digital transformation. These considerations have significant implications for policymakers, academics, and legal practitioners. Understanding and addressing these issues is essential for ensuring that the transformation processes in the energy sector are conducted in a manner that respects personal data and privacy protection while advancing sustainable and digital innovation. The development of robust and specific regulations will be key to balancing these objectives and ensuring the protection of fundamental human rights in an increasingly digitalized energy landscape.

Customer perception of technologies for new-generation web shops – preliminary study : XIV.
Tamara Križnjak, Simona Sternad Zabukovšek, Samo Bobek, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: This paper investigates emerging technological trends in web commerce and examines user perceptions through a pilot survey. Key innovations include IoT, AI, ML, chatbots, social and voice commerce, as well as immersive technologies like AR and VR. These tools enhance personalization, automate services, and support better consumer decision-making. The pilot study, based on an online questionnaire, explores user behaviour, expectations, and attitudes toward these developments. Results show that while users are familiar with technologies like chatbots and personalization, awareness of AR and VR remains low. Concerns about security and data privacy significantly influence user trust. The findings highlight the need for seamless technological integration, increased user education, and transparent communication to build trust and improve the digital shopping experience.

Comparative Analysis of Digitalised Business Models : II.
Samo Bobek, Vujica Lazović, Simona Sternad Zabukovšek, 2025, samostojni znanstveni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: Digital business models are a key component of digital transformation. Understanding these models is essential for operating successfully in the digital economy. A business model defines the value proposition, cost structure, financing sources, target audience, marketing strategy, and potential partnerships. Its primary purpose is to enable sustainable value delivery to customers. This paper uses the Business Model Canvas to analyse digitised business models, focusing on those based on recurring revenues (e.g., subscriptions, SaaS) and network effects (e.g., platforms, marketplaces). These models have fueled the growth of many digital enterprises. As emerging technologies reshape consumer expectations, companies must rethink how they create and deliver value in a constantly evolving digital environment.

Key success factors in digital transformation : fundamentals developed from a bibliometric analysis
Tilen Medved, Tomaž Kern, Eva Krhač Andrašec, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The article analyses a multidimensional digital transformation process. Digital transformation is a change or shift in operational and strategic frameworks necessitated by the rapid advancement of digital technology. Digital transformation is more than the implementation of advanced technology, it requires a cultural shift towards constant experimentation and openness to failure. Such changes make the organization agile, efficient, and customer-orientated, with the ability to quickly integrate new, comprehensive data into the entire decision-making and innovation process. The purpose of the research was therefore to analyse the key success factors in digital transformation. The analysis serves as a basis for further theoretical research in this field and for practical implementation in organisational systems. As part of this research, a bibliometric analysis was carried out using the open-source tool VOSviewer. The analysis shows that digital transformation is particularly relevant in the fields of Computer Science; Business, Management and Accounting; and Engineering, namely in Germany, China and the Russian Federation. We have come to the conclusion that the key success factors in digital transformation are as follows: corporate organization and technology, collaboration and cultural change, holistic strategy, leadership and organizational structure, continuous learning and conformity to best practises.

Digital transformation and business model innovation: enhancing productivity in the Croatian maritime transport sector
Marija Jović Mihanović, Saša Aksentijević, Edvard Tijan, Gregor Lenart, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This research investigates how business model changes induced by digital transformation impact productivity within the maritime transport sector in Croatia. Given the limited existing literature addressing digital transformation’s productivity implications, specifically in maritime contexts, this study aims to identify and analyze key mediating factors. An online survey conducted among Croatian maritime transport stakeholders resulted in 82 valid responses, which were statistically analyzed using descriptive statistics, Spearman’s correlation, and principal component analysis (PCA). The study identifies two primary dimensions of business model changes—innovation and process digitalization—that significantly correlate with increased productivity. Key influencing factors include the digitalization of internal and external business processes, development of new digital revenue streams, introduction of innovative services, and novel pricing models. Results underscore the importance of targeted digital transformation initiatives and serve as a valuable reference for maritime transport stakeholders, aiming to enhance their productivity and competitiveness through digital innovation.

Exploring digital transformation journey among micro, small-, and medium-sized enterprises
Marjeta Marolt, Gregor Lenart, Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar, Andreja Pucihar, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper aims to explore the patterns in micro, small-, and medium-sized enterprises’ (MSMEs) digital transformation journey during recent years. Using an emergent concurrent mixed-methods approach, we combined insights from six in-depth interviews with MSME managers and owners with survey data from 66 MSMEs. The findings reveal major inhibitors and accelerators of MSMEs’ digital transformation and demonstrate how they cope with them by engaging in digitalisation actions. This study also provides insights into how inhibitors, accelerators, and digitalisation actions vary across MSME sizes. While an increased adoption of digital technology was observed among the participating MSMEs, this study identifies three distinct digital transformation paths: necessary, experimental, and committed. Each path is shaped by a unique combination of inhibitors and accelerators. From the practical perspective, this research provides insights for MSME managers and owners on how to tailor their digital transformation efforts to their unique inhibitors and accelerators. In addition, our insights can help policy makers to promote the digital transformation of MSMEs through appropriate measures and support mechanisms tailored to the specific needs of smaller enterprises.
