Routine and ritual small talk in Chinese rural shops
Dániel Z. Kádár, Yilin Chai, Juliane House, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In this study, we propose an integrative approach to Small Talk by bringing together routine and ritual, and also by approaching Small Talk through the lens of ritual, speech acts and discourse. Routine manifestations of Small Talk include banal phatic interaction, such as weather talk which follows conventionalised patterns, has limited bonding ca pacity and no deeper meaning. Ritual Small Talk, on the other hand, refers to phatic interaction which also follows conventionalised patterns but has a deeper purpose and meaning, and has a more lasting bonding capacity. We analyse a corpus featuring shop talk in a rural Chinese town, hence filling a knowledge since Small Talk in rural settings has been understudied. We conduct a bipartite analysis, i.e. we first consider how in teractions in our corpus tend to be opened and closed, and then we analyse our data through Small Talk themes. Our analysis shows that in Chinese rural shops routines do not simply dissolve when the participants become more familiar, but rather they transform into ritual. This finding shows that Small Talk in the setting studied operates differently from what has been observed in urbanised contexts.

Video explanations as a useful digital source of education in the COVID 19 situation
Manuel Pestano Pérez, Igor Pesek, Blaž Zmazek, Alenka Lipovec, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The paper presents the current state of scientific findings on flipped learning during the outbreak of COVID 19 and compares two models, the Chinese and the Slovenian. The portal www.razlagamo.si offers asynchronous video explanations that allow the learner to manage time independently and supportive conversations in which students synchronously, in one-to-one conversations communicate with studentteachers and in-service teachers. The quantitative overview of the video explanations is provided. Results will help teachers who use the principles of flipped classroom, and decision-makers who design the educational model for the future.

Review of pallet pooling studies
Chunhua Chen, Jianwei Ren, A Yunga, 2019, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: Development of sharing economy has brought new opportunities to the development of green logistics. Pallet pooling is a typical type of sharing economy. It has been recently promoted in almost every country in the world. Researchers have reached a common agreement that establishing an effective pallet pool is of great importance to the pallets use efficiency. It is also believed that the implementation of pallet pool will substantially contribute to the economic and social development. Detailed analysis of pallet pooling such as benefit analysis, mode choose, pallet allocation model & algorithm, quality control, etc. are discussed in this paper. Based on literature review, several important problems are listed for future study. These problems are information management, supply chain management, rental pricing, pallets tracking and allocation, quality control, sustainable development (carbon emissions), and “internet plus pallet pooling”. Some suggestions on China’s pallet pooling development are proposed as well.

From Bosnia and Herzegovina to China in the 21st century : a case study of personal migration histories
Bojan Ćudić, David Hazemali, Matjaž Klemenčič, Jernej Zupančič, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study is the first to examine recent migration from Bosnia and Herzegovina to China in the 21st century. It gives an overview of new Chinese geopolitical and economic circumstances, a historical analysis of migration flows between China and the rest of the world from the 19th to the 21st century, and a survey of recent emigration flows from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The second part presents the results of an empirical study of labour migration from Bosnia and Herzegovina to China and the experiences of 25 migrants, which was conducted using structured interviews The research results show that most in the group plan to stay in China permanently. Some would like to move to North America or Australia. It is characteristic that there are no gender gaps in terms of qualifica-tions or career ambitions. The measures to combat COVID-19 imple-mented by the Chinese government affected the respondents in different ways.

An analysis of interaction effects of China–South Korea and China–Australia FTAs and the expanding TPP
Sun Yuhong, Mu Yifei, Jun Yang, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: On 5 October 2015, the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) led by the U.S. was signed. Already, 12 countries1 have joined the agreement, but China has not. Thus, lots of research has focused on the negative effect of the TPP on China’s foreign trade. On the other hand, China is moving forward in its own efforts to establish bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) and free trade zones. In June 2015, China-South Korea and China-Australia signed bilateral FTAs which went into effect in December 2015. Several questions were raised: Since South Korea and Australia are the major trade partners in the Pacific area and the bilateral FTAs will be effective before the TPP, will these FTAs’ positive effects on China’s foreign trade offset some of the negative effects of the TPP? If China and the U.S. adopted a competitive trade policy, which countries would benefit? If China and the U.S. adopted a cooperative trade policy, how would the trade value and economic welfare change? This paper simulates and analyses the mutual effects of China-South Korea and China-Australia FTAs and the enlarging TPP using the computable general equilibrium model. The major conclusions drawn suggest that China-South Korea and China-Australia FTAs will significantly offset the TPP’s negative effect on China’s foreign trade. If China is not included, the U.S. economic benefit from the TPP will be limited. The economic welfare for a country like Australia, which joined both the bilateral FTA and the TPP, will be increased the most. In the long run, China joining the TPP would be the most beneficial decision for its national interest. However, if the TPP cannot be approved by the US congress, the U.S.’s economic indicators and export would be decreasing sharply. China’s economy and export will benefit from FTAs.
