Thermal regime of annual air temperature in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Nusret Drešković, Ranko Mirić, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Horizontal air temperature is defined by the value of the mean air temperature for a certain surface area unit. It is defined by the value of horizontal thermal gradient, i.e. the value of average change of horizontal temperature per unit area. In order to define the horizontal change of air temperature in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a GRID thermal model was constructed whose spatial resolution is 20 m. Based on obtained thermal model geo-database it was determined that the mean annual air temperature for the whole area of Bosnia and Herzegovina is about 10.9 °C, keeping in mind that there are significant thermal differences with respect to the two existing climate zones. More specifically, on the territory of the northern temperate climate zone the average annual temperature is about 9.7 °C, while in the Mediterranean climate zone the said value is 12.1 °C. In this work, it was also found that thermal contrasts are very pronounced as well, due to the fact that average annual temperature in the highest mountain peak zones in southeastern Bosnian highlands is negative and is found to be -1.4 °C (Maglić peak), while at the Neum coastal zone it is measured at 15.9 °C. The above stated pronounced thermal contrasts are determined on a small horizontal distance, as a consequence of climactic position of Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as highly pronounced terrain dynamics.

Geographical reflections of mine pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia
Snježana Musa, Željka Šiljković, Dario Šakić, 2017, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Numerous landmine fields cause an immense problem for the development of economy in rural areas of the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Even twenty years after the Homeland War in Croatia, i.e. the same period after signing the Dayton Accord and war cessation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, huge areas are still contaminated with landmines. In Croatia are approximately 1.69 % of contaminated territory agricultural areas in the east part of country, forests and forestry land, i.e. pastures in highlands and the Mediterranean areas are most endangered. Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most landmine contaminated countries in the world. Severe landmine contamination in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been detected on pasture and forestry land, in the vicinity of the former war zone, in the central part of the country. Out of the total number of 1,366 landmine contaminated settlements in the Bosnia and Herzegovina territory, some 1,169 are rural communities.

The demographic ageing of population in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Alma Kadušić, Alija Suljić, Nedima Smajić, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: In this paper the age structure and the ageing population process in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century is analyzed. The main reasons that caused changes in the age composition of the population and the population ageing in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been researched. The main causes of the population ageing in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the second half of the 20th century were primarily trends in fertility rates and secondarily trends in mortality rates. The economic growth of Bosnia and Herzegovina after World War II conditioned changes in the economic and educational structure of the population and with that the changes in the natural increase rates and migration balance. The war was the main cause of negative demographic changes in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 1992 to 1995, and the post-war adverse socioeconomic, political and other circumstances have been the cause of negative demographic trends after 1995. The aim of this paper is to determine the level of population ageing in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the consequences this process could have on the demographic future of this country.

Fish ponds as a factor of development in rural areas of Bosnia and Herzegovina
Rahman Nurković, 2014, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This paper explains the impact of fish farms on the development of rural areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Fishing in Bosnia and Herzegovina was recognized as an opportunity for industrial production, tourism and placing high quality healthy food on market as well as rural development and the possibility of creating new jobs. In terms of agroclimatic conditions, Bosnia and Herzegovina has a very favorable geographical, hydrological, climatic and ecological conditions for fish production, which is reflected in the availability of water resources of rivers, lakes and marine fish farms. In Bosnia and Herzegovina there are 41 registered fish farms of freshwater and saltwater fish and it is estimated that there are about twenty unregulated fish farms. With the available resources, the existance of tradition in production, decades of existance of lake fish ponds and dynamic development of production in cages classify fish farming as a significant branch of economy, which ensures it in the domestic market, but also on the markets of neighboring countries, the European Union.

Nature protection in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Samir Đug, Nusret Drešković, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Bosnia and Herzegovina is distinguished by a very unique mosaic of high biodiversity level. However, current development activities and initiatives for construction of new dams, together with activities in the forestry sector throughout the country, emphasizes the need for establishment of new protected areas in all major ecosystem types that should be ecologically viable and effectively managed. A review of the history of protected areas and administration developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina provide useful input for analysis. However, the data on the current state and size of protected areas in the country are obsolate and inaccurate. The results of the analysis have shown that in spite of a very high biodiversity level, Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to designate only 2.6% of its territory as protected areas, which is far below regional and European level. Lack of protected areas system is one of the main direct threats to biodiversity conservation. The primary objective of establishment of protected area network (PAN) in Bosnia and Herzegovina is to ensure conservation of valuable natural areas, which contain representatives of all main ecosystem types that could be found in the country. Only in this way, sustainable conservation of biodiversity could be achieved.

Adisa Delić, Sabina Đonlagić Alibegović, Mersiha Mešanović, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Modern companies’ business environments have become increasingly complex, dynamic, and uncertain as a consequence of globalization and the rapid development of information communications technology. Companies are urged to increase their flexibility in order to keep their competitiveness in the global market. The affirmation of intrapreneurship becomes one of the basic ways for achieving higher adaptability and competitiveness of large companies in the modern business environment. In this context, the choice of an organizational solution that improves the development of entrepreneurial orientation and increases employee entrepreneurship and innovativeness becomes an important task for large companies. Research studies and business practices have indicated that various types of modern organizational forms enable the development of intrapreneurship. Therefore, the main aim of this paper is to identify dominant characteristics of organizational solutions and analyse their influence on the development of intrapreneurship in large companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH). The research results indicate that current organizational characteristics are not favourable for the development of intrapreneurship in large BiH companies and that improvement is necessary in order to create an enabling environment for intrapreneurship and innovativeness. Based on these findings, recommendations for appropriate organizational changes are presented that might result in a more intensive development of intrapreneurship in large BiH companies.

Črtomir Rozman, Zoran Grgić, Aleksandar Maksimović, Ferhat Ćejvanović, Adis Puška, Branka Šakić Bobić, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Cattle breeding is a very important part of agricultural production in Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), and milk production has a vital place in cattle breeding production. From an economic point of view, milk production is interesting as it is a daily production which presupposes faster marketing, which accelerates capital movement in agriculture, which in turn enhances liquidity. This research uses analyses of the existing state in milk production. The collected data are processed and cost calculation has been designed which enables the analysis of economic indicators of 4 dairy farm production models in B&H. Based on the collected data on features and values of dairy farm production models in B&H an analysis of expert evaluation was conducted as input data for DEXi method. The aim of this paper is to ascertain the basic indicators of business success of 4 dairy farm production models in B&H. Production-ecological, economic and socio-political features of the mentioned dairy farm models were analyzed. Based on the used criteria a rate of dairy farm production models using DEXi method was conducted. The results of the research in this paper using DEXi method show that the best model for dairy farm is model number four, which includes 45 milk cows.

It summarizes and explains the institution of the Witness Protection Program – the model in BiH, and considers the new proposals for de lege ferenda solutions within the Law on Witness Protection Program in BiH. Design/Methods/Approach: In this study, the author used scientific methods, such as analysis, comparative methods, and case studies, as well as quantitative and qualitative research. The data used in this study is based on the survey that shows the size of groups of offenders accused for organized crime in BiH in the 2004–2008 period. The study covers criminal organizations that were founded in BiH at the beginning of 2003, and sentenced for organised crime. Findings: The aim is to present the active role of the Witness Protection Program as a relevant mechanism for fighting organized crime today. The study also deals with the importance of international relocation and identity change of witnesses, the situation and role of the protected witness. Originality/Value: The Witness Protection Program is a new institution in the field of criminal justice in BiH, but it is not the only one, and it should be the primary tool for the joint fight against organized crime in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The study also reflects on the model in BiH as an important factor in the international surrounding, its active role, its participation and contribution in the protection of future protected witnesses and their unobstructed testimonies in criminal proceedings.

Perceived neighbourhood social disorder and attitudes toward feeling safe in Sarajevo
Elmedin Muratbegović, Fahrudin Memić, 2012, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Purpose: In this article, the authors examine how fear of crime levels vary depending upon the degree of quality of living conditions within neighbourhoods. Additionally, the intervening mechanisms that link the degree of living quality with the level of fear of crime within neighbourhoods of Sarajevo, the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be explored. Design/Methods/Approach: This article shows the impact which neighbourly relations and social (dis) organization have on citizens’ perceptions of the so-called fear of crime. In order to measure the fear of crime in general, the authors relied on Van der Wurff’s model which has already been widely used in criminology and which is based on six vignettes describing six different social situations. The authors used a multi-stage random probability method to select a representative sample of households living in urban zones of Sarajevo. The sample population (N = 400) consisted of adult (18 years or older) inhabitants of urban areas comprising Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Findings: The Neighbourhood Disorder and Fear of Crime models indicate that welldeveloped social networks have a significant impact on feeling safe within Sarajevo’s neighbourhoods. Research Limitations/Implications: The most serious objection that can be raised with regard to this survey is the application of the interview as the only data collection technique. Most certainly, the inclusion of other techniques (e.g. focus groups) and methods would achieve more valid results. Practical implications: From the perspectives of practical implications, fear of crime can negatively impact citizens’ lives, and it is important to prevent this phenomenon in our communities, through everyday police activities and activities of other institutions of formal and informal social control. Originality/Value: The incidence and perceptions of safety in Sarajevo has become linked with perceived problems of social stability, moral consensus, and the collective informal control processes that underpin the social order of neighborhoods.
