Layered additive manufacturing in clinical medicine

Opis: The use of contemporary technologies of Computer Assisted Design (CAD), combined with latest rapid prototyping, tooling and manufacturing, with traditional CT scanning techniques and high medical skills are used as instruments for better diagnostic visualization, simulation of procedures and treatment of patients with craniofacial deformities. They also improve the overall performances of medical and nursing staff thus influencing the quality of medical service. Patients with congenital defects, orthognathic deformities, deformities after malignancy treatment or after craniofacial traumatic injuries of different severities are of particular interests due to both aesthetic and functional alterations. The paper presents two clinical cases - a patient with scull bone defect after brain hemorrhage and brain edema as well as a patient with hemifacial microsomia treated by surgery followed by implantation of titanium angular implant prepared by means of computer tomography scans, Computer Aided Design and Rapid Manufacturing technologies.

3D virtual prototyping of a ski jumpsuit based on a reconstructed body scan model

Opis: 3D virtual prototyping become a topic of increasing interest of both computer graphics and computer-aided design for apparel production. These technologies are especially important when a garment prototype should be developed for a special purpose, such as ski-jumper suit. Namely, shape and size of a jumpsuit need to be individually adapted to each ski-jumper according to the exact requirements set by FIS (Fédereation Internationale de Ski). The FIS requirements change annually or even more often in order to assure ski-jumpers' safety during competitive ski jumps. The conventional body measurement technique and development of ski-jumpers pattern are time consuming. In order to develop an accurate and rapid design, as well as an adaptable and quickly changeable jumpsuit, different modern technologies were used. The obtained virtual prototypes of a skijumper and a jumpsuit enable both - fast re-modelling according to FIS rules and expeditious development and/or simulations of a jumpsuit. All these measures are taken to improve the aerodynamic design of a suit and jumper's result. The body scanning technology represents a great potential for textile industries and above all for producers of garments. It enables fast and reliable capture of 3D body data and extraction of precise measurements needed for design, construction, visualisation and animation of garments on virtual mannequins. However, there are also some problems related to the scanned body models, caused by the scanning technique. In this article we are discussing the techniques for reconstruction of the body models and its results using the example from one of the competitive sports clothing - ski-jumper suit. In our study we have used different computer graphics programmes in order to reconstruct and prepare the 3D body scan model for successfully importing it into OptiTex CAD programme. The aim of this research was to enable effective 3D virtual garment prototyping using the reconstructed body scan model.

Periodic colour model

Opis: This article is based on the thesis that natural cycles have an ontological influence on our symbolic meaning system and classification of notions. Lately, these symbolic meanings have passed over to colour meanings along with the evolution of a visual system. Colours are one kind of human convention, used unconsciously in every day communication. At the macroscopic level, sunlight is the only source of light which defines those natural daily-and annual-cycles. These two cycle systems symbolically correspond with two basic geometric sequences of colour palettes, forming major- and minor-angled colour circle lines. Inserted into the Periodic Colour Model they explain the logic of dominant colours and the relationships among them at the specific cross-section of periods. In the Periodic Colour Model, all three dimensions of colour are summarised, including time in a common model which represents a complex analytical and prognostic tool based on symbolic values transmitted from natural cycles.

REKONSTRUKCIJA ARHEOLOŠKIH NAJDB S POMOČJO 3D TEHNOLOGIJ

Opis: Diplomska naloga z naslovom Rekonstrukcija arheoloških najdb s pomočjo 3D tehnologij temelji na zajemanju in obdelavi 3D podatkov kakor tudi na izdelavi replik s pomočjo slojevitih tehnologij. To so tehnologije, ki so svojo pot začele predvsem s hitro izdelavo prototipov in so se sčasoma razširile v ostale panoge, kot je npr. arheologija. S pomočjo takšnih tehnologij, kot je opisano v delu, lahko učinkoviteje in hitreje pridemo do želenih rezultatov pri delu arheologov. Takšni načini zajemanja podatkov so ključnega pomena za boljše razumevanje naše preteklosti. V diplomskem delu so predstavljene predvsem različne tehnike zajemanja tridimenzionalnih podatkov in rekonstrukcije s pomočjo 3D tehnologij. Z zelo veliko izbiro strojne opreme, ki je dandanes dostopna na trgu, moramo racionalno izbirati med pravimi, saj smo omejeni s časom in denarjem. Nepravilna izbira lahko povzroči nenatančnost končnih rezultatov in dodatne stroške. Opisali smo tudi razvoj nekaterih začetkov teh tehnologij in jih časovno opredelili v tabeli.

Slovenski ornament v interierju - Zasnova kavarne ob Slovenskem ljudskem gledališču Celje

Opis: Predmet raziskave diplomskega dela je obravnava slovenskega ornamenta, njegova pojavnost v oblikovanju in aplikacija v prostoru. Z analizo obstoječega stanja in z željo po ustrezni uporabi ornamenta v prostoru je predstavljena idejna zasnova kavarne ob Slovenskem ljudskem gledališču Celje. Gledališka in dekorativna umetnost tako soustvarita ambient nove mestne kavarne.

Inovativen koncept naslona za roke pri zadnjih avtomobilskih sedežih

Opis: Nasloni za roke pri zadnjih avtomobilskih sedežih predstavljajo način sprostitve mišic in hrbtenice pri sedenju v avtomobilu. Uporabniku nudijo oporo ter možnost spreminjanja položajev med vožnjo. V diplomski nalogi smo opisali ergonomske in biomehanske dejavnike, ki so ključnega pomena za optimalno oblikovanje naslona za roke. S pomočjo ankete smo raziskali mnenja uporabnikov naslonov, z metodo opazovanja smo ugotovili aktivnost določenih mišic pri opravljanju različnih del med vožnjo na zadnjih sedežih, preučili pa smo tudi že obstoječe rešitve naslonov. Rezultat diplomske naloge je inovativna zasnova naslona za roke, ki je ergonomsko in biomehansko dovršen ter tako prijazen širokemu spektru uporabnikov.
