The influence of increased cross-linker chain length in thermosensitive microspheres on potential sun-protection activity

Opis: The sun protection should involve substances with protecting activity against both UVB and UVA radiation. In this research the evaluation of thermosensitive microspheres as potential molecules for sunscreen formulations was approached, using modified Boots star rating system. The microspheres, thermosensitive N-isopropylacrylamide derivatives, have potential protecting activity against UV radiation. The MX and DX microspheres, with ethylene glycol dimethacrylate and diethylene glycol dimethacrylate crosslinker respectively, due to theirs thermosensitivity exhibit increase in protecting activity against UV radiation when heated to 45°C. The MX microspheres have higher increase in terms of UV absorbance, comparing to DX microspheres, when heated in the 25°C to 45°C range. Studied microspheres have high potential forapplication as components of sun-screens used in elevated temperatures.

Evaluation of thermosensitive microspheres as potential components for sun-protectors

Opis: In this study thermosensitive polymeric microspheres obtained in former research were evaluated in vitro for their photoprotective activity. The UVA/UVB ratio was assessed at so called shelf temperature i.e. at 25°C, and at elevated temperature of 45°C. The evaluated polymers absorb higher levels of UV radiation, when heated from 25°C to 45°C. The MS1 polymer may be defined as polymer with high efficiency in the terms of gaining protection against UVAradiation, when heated. The MS2 absorbs both UVA and UVB radiation, and maybe considered, as most protective, when heated to 45°C. The equalized and less strong activity has the polymer MS3 when heated, with lipophilic radical implemented during synthesis.

Opis: This invention concerns an ecologically friendly process of indigo (C.I. Vat Blue 1 ) dyeing of cellulose and polyamide-containing textile material with possibility of reusing (three or more times) the enzyme reduction dyeing bath. Procedure of dyeing cellulose and polyamide textile materials with enzymatically reduced indigo comprising the step of subjecting the cellulose or polyamide samples to the indigo dyebath containing reductases (e.g. NADH-dependent enzymes from Bacillis subtilis in the presence of a redox mediator (e.g.1,8- dihydroxy-9,10-anthraquinone), oxidation on air or oxidases enzyme or oxidizing agent (i.e. hydrogen peroxide) after diffusion leuko indigo into material and finally soaping and washing.

Tyrosinase catalysed coupling of functional molecules onto protein fibres

Opis: Grafting, using oxidative enzymes shows a high potential for wool fibres funktionalisation. In this work we attempt to graft on wool fibres with phenolic antioxidants order to introduce and improve the properties of the fibre. The approach of tyrosinase to oxidize tyrosine residues in wool proteins to quinones, which can further react with free sulfhydryl (thiol), amino or phenolic groups of different substrates was exploited to couple different phenolic antioxidants (caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid) onto the wool fibre proteins. Tyrosinase catalysed reactions were followed by different analytical methods like oxygen consumption, FT-NIR Raman and UV/VIS spectroscopy. It was proved that phenolic compounds used are strongly cross-linked on the wool fibre resulting to an improved antioxidant activity.
