The synthesis, surface analysis, and cellular response of titania and titanium oxynitride nanotube arrays prepared on TiAl6V4 for potential biomedical applications

Opis: Titania nanotubes are gaining prominence in the biomedical field as implant materials due to their mechanical durability, nano-rough properties, and positive influence on cellular response. This work aimed to synthesize titania and titanium oxynitride (TieOeN) nano- tubular arrays on TiAl6V4 substrates using an anodic oxidation process followed by annealing in air or by additional nitridation in NH3 atmosphere. Different nanotubular layers of unique morphology and structure were fabricated and investigated using advanced surface analysis and biocompatibility tests. In-depth surface analysis was per- formed by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), 3D profilometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy (ToF-SIMS). Cell testing using adipose- derived mesenchymal stem cells and human fetal osteoblasts demonstrated good cell viability, high proliferative capacity, and a favorable overall effect on cell morphology for the TieOeN nanotubes.

Vodenje krožnega inverznega nihala z oddaljenim merilnim mestom

Opis: V magistrski nalogi je predstavljena regulacija vpete palice na sistem, ki se vrti okoli lastne osi, pri čemer je cilj, da je ta sistem sposoben postaviti palico v pokončno lego in jo tam za nekaj časa zadržati. Pri tem je palica vpeta na vrtljivo os sistema. Najprej smo vzpostavili komunikacijo med glavnim mikrokrmilnikom in računalnikom. Sledila je vzpostavitev povezave s pomočjo NRF modula med glavnim mikrokrmilnikom in mikrokrmilnikom, ki se je nahajal na sistemu. Po uspešni povezavi smo se lotili branja kota palice in kota vrtenja samega sistema. Nato smo načrtali tri regulatorje: PID, polinomsko sintezo in regulator v prostoru stanj. Pri slednjem smo dobili najboljši odziv, zato smo ga tudi uporabili pri končnem sistemu. S prilagajanjem parametrov in poskušanjem smo dosegli cilj naloge. Na koncu smo izdelali tiskano vezje in s tem izboljšali videz sistema.

Analiza vidikov kakovosti in poslovne odličnosti v proizvodnem podjetju

Opis: V magistrskem delu so predstavljena teoretična izhodišča vidikov kakovosti in odličnosti v izbranem proizvodnem podjetju ter model EFQM poslovne odličnosti. Prvi del predstavlja teorijo ter pojme in teoretična izhodišča kakovosti in poslovne odličnosti, kar omogoča lažje razumevanje empiričnega dela magistrskega dela. Drugi, empirični del prikazuje vidike kakovosti in poslovne odličnosti izbranega podjetja ter analizo izpeljane samoocene EFQM. Ta del vsebuje kratko predstavitev podjetja ter opis poteka izpeljane samoocene in analizo rezultatov. Sledi predstavitev področja samoocene, kjer je podjetje dobilo najnižjo oceno, to je področje dojemanja deležnikov. Drugi del empiričnega dela vsebuje rezultate intervjujev zaposlenih v podjetju. Odgovori zaposlenih omogočajo raziskavo potencialnih težav in predstavitev rešitev in izboljšav, ki lahko podjetju pomagajo pri izboljšanju rezultatov in ocene pri naslednji izpeljavi samoocene EFQM

Multilayer methacrylate-based wound dressing as a therapeutic tool for targeted pain relief

Opis: This study presents an innovative wound dressing system that offers a highly effective therapeutic solution for treating painful wounds. By incorporating the widely used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac, we have created an active wound dressing that can provide targeted pain relief with ease. The drug was embedded within a biocompatible matrix composed of polyhydroxyethyl methacrylate and polyhydroxypropyl methacrylate. The multilayer structure of the dressing, which allows for sustained drug release and an exact application, was achieved through the layer-by-layer coating technique and the inclusion of superparamagnetic iron platinum nanoparticles. The multilayered dressings’ physicochemical, structural, and morphological properties were characterised using various methods. The synergistic effect of the incorporated drug molecules and superparamagnetic nanoparticles on the surface roughness and release kinetics resulted in controlled drug release. In addition, the proposed multilayer wound dressings were found to be biocompatible with human skin fibroblasts. Our findings suggest that the developed wound dressing system can contribute to tailored therapeutic strategies for local pain relief.

Review of bioplastics characterisation by terahertz techniques in the view of ensuring a circular economy

Opis: The increasing scarcity of natural resources, worsening global climate change, environmental degradation, and rising demand for food are forcing the biotechnology and plastics industries to seek and apply circular economy models that would lead to a sustainable transition in the production and use of bioplastics. Circular economy models can improve the economic productivity of bio-based plastics and have a positive impact on the environment by reducing conventional plastic waste and the consumption of petrochemical feedstocks for plastic production. In addition, some agricultural wastes that have the potential to be used as bioplastics can be reused. Terahertz (THz) systems are already used in the plastics and rubber industries for non-destructive testing, detection, imaging, and quality control. Several reports have highlighted the potential applications of THz spectroscopy and imaging in polymer analysis and plastics characterisation. This potential is even greater with chemometric methods and artificial intelligence algorithms. In this review, we focus on applications that support the transformation of the biotechnology sector to the circular economy, particularly via the transition from conventional plastics to bioplastics. In this review, we discuss the potential of THz systems for the characterisation and analysis of bioplastics and biopolymers. The results of previous studies on biopolymers in the THz frequency range are summarised. Furthermore, the potential of using artificial intelligence approaches such as machine learning as advanced analytical methods in THz spectroscopy and imaging, in addition to the conventionally used chemometric methods, is discussed. The results of this review highlight that THz technology can contribute to closed technological circles in important areas of biotechnology and the related plastics and rubber industries.
