Phytoplasma infection may affect morphology, regeneration and pyrethrin content in pyrethrum shoot culture
Jana Ambrožič-Dolinšek, Marjana Camloh, Jana Žel, Maja Kovač, Maja Ravnikar, Luigi Carraro, Nataša Petrovič, 2008, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The aim of the work was to infect pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium (Trevir.) Schulty-Bip.), an important secondary metabolite pyrethrin producing plant, with MA phytoplasma (16S rRNA group III, subgroup B) to initiate tissue culture of phytoplasma-infected plants, and to examine possible effects of infection on pyrethrin content, morphology, and regenerative capacity in shoot culture. Phytoplasma transmission was achieved bz using an insect vector (Euscelidius variegatus) making pyrethrum as a new host for phytoplasma. The infection significantly changed the morphology and regenerative capacity of shoots and roots. The infected shoots and roots were shorter and thinner and an increase in proliferation of both was observed. Phytoplasma infection significantly decreased pyrethrin content in shoots, as measured by HPLC. The possibility of long-term maintenance of phytoplasma was also studied. The presence of phytoplasma in shoots was confirmed periodically over 4 years by PCR assay. Possible physiological reasons for a balanced phytoplasma-host system are discussed.

Expression of disease symptoms on different apple cultivars infected with apple proliferation phytoplasma
Mario Lešnik, Maja Ravnikar, Jernej Brzin, Nataša Mehle, Nataša Petrovič, Stanislav Tojnko, Mojca Lešnik, 2007, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: An expression of Apple proliferation (AP) symptoms in the infected young apple trees of 7 cultivars was studied. Two types of symptoms were observed in infected trees; AP specific (changes in size and number of leaf stipules and witches-broom formation) and non-specific symptoms (changes in leaf size, shape and colour, formation of rosettes and stunting of shoots). The percentage of infected trees that expressed one or more AP-specific symptoms was 18.9-75.5 % in one-year old trees, 39,4-87 % in two-year, and 44,8-89,7 % in three-year old trees. The expression of non-specific symptoms was similar (43,2-65,3 % in one-year, 57,6-85,2 % in two-year and 62,1-87,5 % in three year old trees).

Ecological footprint as indicator of students environmental awareness level at Faculties of Organizational Sciences, University of Belgrade and University of Maribor
Nataša Petrović, Sonja Išljamović, Veljko Jeremić, Drago Vuk, Marjan Senegačnik, 2011, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The Ecological Footprint is a complex sustainability indicator that answers a simple question: How much of the Earth’s resources is demanded to support humankind lifestyle and activities? Ecological Footprint translates consumption and waste flow data into a measurement of the biologically productive area required to sustain that flow. We used Ecological Footprint as input feature that provides an effective heuristic and pedagogic tool for capturing current human resource use. The key aspect of this paper will be focused on the measuring of environmental awareness level among the students of the Faculty of Organizational Science, University of Belgrade and University of Maribor. For the determining student’s environmental awareness level and their Ecological Footprint, we used a closed form questionnaire with 15 questions. Statistical analysis has been performed in SPSS software package.

The level of youth activism
Tatjana Borojević, Drago Vuk, Nataša Petrović, Dragoslav Slović, 2015, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: During the period from 2007 to 2014, and in addition to huge institutional changes, large steps were taken in the field of youth policy in the Republic of Serbia in order to create national resources which would have influence on the improvement of the youth status and life. On the other hand, the practice shows that the existence of the national framework for youth support, as a local service network intended for youths, is not a crucial prerequisite to change the current situation when it comes to improving the quality of life of young people, but that the existence of the critical level of youth activism is a key driving force that leads to changes. This paper presents an overview of the level of youth activism in the city of Belgrade. The results show that young people accept a proactive attitude to life when it comes to their personal or family problems and issues whilst the engagement in the social field and especially a political one are not seen as a preferable type of behaviour.
