Contaminants in the soil and typical crops of the Pannonian region of SloveniaŽiga Jelen, Milan Svetec, Peter Majerič, Stanko Kapun, Lara Resman, Tatjana Čeh, Granit Hajra, Rebeka Rudolf, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Soil contamination and the uptake of pollutants by food crops are widespread issues that vary greatly by region and are influenced by the mineral composition of the soil and local human activities. The Pannonian region, where agriculture has played a key role since Roman times, has been particularly impacted by the long-standing agricultural and industrial practices. While soil contamination with heavy metals is monitored by the Slovenian government, microplastic contamination and the uptake of pollutants into food crops have yet to become a regular component of monitoring efforts. In this study, we conducted a preliminary investigation into soil and crop contamination across the Pannonian region, focusing on identifying harmful contaminants and their potential uptake into food crops. Both soil and crop samples were analyzed for the presence of heavy metals with proven methods such as atomic absorption spectrometry (FASS), graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS), atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS), and inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) was found to be a potentially faster method of obtaining data on soil composition. Special attention was also given to the potential presence of microplastics in the region’s soils. 2. Analitična mehanikaMilan Ambrožič, Arbresha Hölbl, 2023, univerzitetni, visokošolski ali višješolski učbenik z recenzijo Opis: Pri predmetu Analitična mehanika obravnavamo številne probleme iz mehanike, predvsem dinamike, na bolj matematično sistematičen način, kot je navada pri običajnih fizikalnih nalogah, npr. v zvezi z drugim Newtonovim zakonom. S tem lahko vključimo tudi kompleksnejše geometrije pri gibanju teles. Ključni del analitične mehanike je vpeljava generaliziranih koordinat kot neodvisnih spremenljivk gibanja, s katerimi izrazimo Lagrangeevo funkcijo ali pa Hamiltonian. Nazadnje moramo rešiti ustrezne diferencialne enačbe, da najdemo časovno odvisnost generaliziranih koordinat. Gravitacija in nihanje sta značilni področji, kjer koristno uporabimo matematični formalizem analitične mehanike. 3. Nematic liquid crystal locking menisciMilan Svetec, Mitja Slavinec, 2013, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: We study meniscus driven locking of point defects of nematic liquid crystals confined within a cylindrical tube with free ends. Curvilinear coordinate system is introduced in order to focus on the phenomena of both (convex and concave) types of menisci. Frank's description in terms of the nematic director field is used. The resulting Euler-Lagrange differential equation is solved numerically. We determine conditions for the defects to be trapped by the meniscus. 4. We consider the annihilation of point disclinations in nematic and line edge dislocations in smectic A LC phase, respectively. We stres s qualitative similarities in these processes.
