Slovensko podjetništvo v letu krize
Miroslav Rebernik, Polona Tominc, Ksenja Pušnik, 2010, znanstvena monografija

Premalo razvojno usmerjenih podjetij
Miroslav Rebernik, Polona Tominc, Ksenja Pušnik, znanstvena monografija

Miroslav Rebernik, Polona Tominc, Ksenja Pušnik, znanstvena monografija

The influential knowledge factors of companies' performance in Slovenia
Katja Rašič, Matjaž Mulej, Vesna Čančer, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Background: Knowledge plays a crucial role in supporting the European Union model based on economic growth, social responsibility, and sustainable development. To improve companies’ performance, one must reflect on new forms of knowledge and develop new indicators to measure them. Objectives: The goal of the paper is to investigate the impact of the selected factors of knowledge on companies’ performance in Slovenia. Methods/Approach: A questionnaire was created and sent to small and medium-sized enterprises in Slovenia. The principle axis factoring method was used to identify the factors of knowledge and of companies’ performance, and a regression analysis was conducted to determine the influence of the selected knowledge factors on companies’ performance. Results: The establishment of scientists’ collaboration with companies has a positive impact on companies’ performance, but the obstacles to the establishment of scientists’ collaboration with companies do not have any impact. Conclusions: The results could be useful for governments and companies in the adoption of measures aimed at strengthening scientists’ collaboration with companies. Further research can be oriented toward the common synergy index (e.g., the knowledge triangle).

Seven or fewer core contents of social responsibility?
Mira Zore, Majda Bastič, Matjaž Mulej, 2016, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Corporate social responsibility (CSR) replaces causes of the current crisis by principles of accountability, transparency, ethics, and respect for organizational stakeholders, the law, international standards, and human rights (International Organization for Standardization, 2010). Interdependence and a holistic approach link them and CSR’s core contents. We examined if Slovene companies involve all seven CSR core contents of ISO 26000 (CSR to employees, customers, local community, environment, human rights, ethical behavior, and leadership). The analysis united three of them—CSR to employees, ethical behavior, and human rights—into CSR leadership to employees.

Competitiveness by requisitely holistic and innovative logistic management
Matjaž Knez, Bojan Rosi, Matjaž Mulej, Martin Lipičnik, 2010, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: In the age of global expansion of business operations and contemporary way of life the material and information flows in and between different companies are growing rapidly; they are thus becoming more and more difficult to manage. Had business functions in companies been dealt with separately until now (purchase, production, finances, sale, etc.), today the emphasis is placed on their integration due to their interdependence. By studying supply chains inside and between business partners, companies can gain competitive advantage and become more adjustable, taking the increasingly changing market circumstances into account. This enables them to meet consumers' demands and expectations requisitely holistically. Taking all the crucial activities into account, the logistics management plays a key role in the companies facing the challenges of the new millennium. Based on the numerous megatrends, which influence each and every business entity, this article aims to explain the increasing strategic importance of logistics management. The latter may not be dealt with one-sidedly as a cost; moreover, the key aspects such as competitiveness as well as long-term existence of a company must also be considered. Innovation and systemic thinking in it and about it are needed.

Business system: sustainable development and anticipatory systems thinking
Vojko Potočan, Matjaž Mulej, 2002, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: The existence and development of humankind depends a lot upon a co-ordinatet operation of all areas and levels of human activity. However, in either theory or practice we found no model of operation, which would offer a harmonized and target oriented development. A possible solution is offered by sustainable development, which tries to the define and carry out common goals of human kind with a holistic harmonization of humans activities at all levels of their living and behaviour. Companies belong to central institutions of the modern society and assentially co-create the sustainability of society. Companies endeavour (e.g. by simulation and planning) to prepare models of their goals and ways concerning their internal and external environment. On the basis of systems approach, we can define companies as business systems, which can best survive in a log-run on the basis of sustainable development. This business system's effort can also be supported by the application of the ancipatory systems thinking which can improve its planning methods, if it is holistic, understood as a future oriented mental activity made of its methodological approach, techniques, and modes of work. Its characteristics have a direct impact of holism of the definition of goals, on the orientation of operation, and hence achievement of the business system's results.

How to improve innovativeness of small and medium enterprises
Vojko Potočan, Matjaž Mulej, 2009, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: Small and medium enterprises cannot avoid the global economy and its demand for innovative business as a precondition for competitiveness. Given their small size and related pool of professionals, small and medium enterprises need to work very hard on their staff's innovativeness and related personal traits. Making a small and medium enterprise successful must be considered as an invention-innovation-diffusion process that tackles both the businesses mix of the given size, and the small and medium enterprise as an entrepreneurial achievement. Thus, all preconditions concerning both the content and the process of innovation must be considered, which requires the requisite holism and, therefore, systemic rather than one-sided thinking/behavior of the usual specialists. Hence, values/culture/ethics/normsof owners, entrepreneurs, managers and their co-workers must also be innovated along with their knowledge. Then, interdisciplinary creative cooperation can result from cultural and professional differences.

Sonja Treven, Matjaž Mulej, Monty L. Lynn, 2008, kratki znanstveni prispevek

Opis: In the paper the authors first present two approaches to the scrutiny of the culture - Hofstede's dimensions of cultural values and Hall's approach to high- and low-context cultures. In the second part they devote their attention to the interaction of culture and organizational behaviour. They also describe how culture affects the ethics and motivation of employees in companies, the way of communicating, success of conflict solving and organizational change. A special issue is the ethics of interdependence.

The steps towards successful reengineering in Slovenian companies
Duško Uršič, Matjaž Mulej, Boštjan Telič, 2005, pregledni znanstveni članek

Opis: The authors have been researching the theory and practice of BPR (business process reengineering) since early nineties. In the paper, their own definition of the steps toward a successful BPR is briefed and applied as a background of the author's benchmarking of management concepts of ISO 9000, TQM, BPR, and 20 Keys. These are the most influential management concepts in Slovenian organisations, as a case of the countries that are now new members of European Union. BPR was found supported most of all. The presented management concepts are compared on the basis of clearly defined criteria, such as targets, initiative, IT role, customer role, degree of BPR, role of implementation, and management, HRM, and rate of project implementation. Results may allow for a wider application of BPR concept offered here anew in different countries as business environments in a similar stage of economic development.
