Dynamic characterisation of novel three-dimensional axisymmetric chiral auxetic structure

Opis: The study presents an extensive mechanical and computational characterisation of novel cellular metamaterial with axisymmetric chiral structure (ACS) at different strain rates. The Direct Impact Hopkinson Bar (DIHB) testing device was used for impact testing up to 21 m/s striker speed, which was insufficient to reach the shock deformation regime. Thus, using computational simulations to estimate the structure behaviour at high strain rates was necessary. Experimental and computational results showed that all ACS structures exhibit a nominal stress–strain relationship typical for cellular materials. As the loading conditions shifted to a dynamic regime, the micro–inertia effect became increasingly pronounced, leading to a corresponding rise in structure stiffness. The Poisson's ratio in all ACS increases gradually, making them superior to traditional cellular materials, which experience a sudden increase in Poisson's ratio during loading. Additionally, the study found that the structures exhibited a rise in the auxetic effect with an increase in strain rate, highlighting the benefits of axisymmetric structures in high-loading regimes. Overall, the obtained results provide valuable insights into the mechanical properties of ACS under different loading regimes and will contribute to further design improvements and the fabrication of novel ACS metamaterials.

Učenje temeljnih postopkov oživljanja z uporabo avtomatskega zunanjega defibrilatorja ter odnos do oživljanja pri osnovnošolcih

Opis: Izhodišča: Izobraževanje osnovnošolcev o temeljnih postopkih oživljanja (TPO) in uporabi avtomatskega zunanjega defibrilatorja (AED) je lahko učinkovito, relativno enostavno in ključno za razširjanje poznavanja TPO med laično javnost. Le to je ključno za preživetje žrtev nenadnega srčnega zastoja izven bonišnice, ki ostaja kljub napredku medicine nizko. Namen te raziskave je bil na podlagi podatkov, pridobljenih z zanesljivimi merilnimi instrumenti, predlagati učinkovite modele poučevanja osnovnošolcev, da bi s tem olajšali umestitev tečajev TPO in AED v redne šolske programe. Metode: V raziskavo je bilo vključenih 783 sedmo- in devetošolcev mariborskih osnovnih šol. Izvedli smo tečaj TPO in AED, ki je zajemal eno šolsko uro interaktivnega predavanja in eno šolsko uro praktične vadbe na lutkah. Razvili smo vprašalnike za preverjanje znanja o TPO in AED, o odnosu do TPO in AED ter o nameri izvajanja TPO in AED. Znanje smo preverjali pred tečajem in po njem (takoj, po 5 mesecih in po 2 letih); odnos in namero pa pred tečajem in po njem. V preverjanje srednjeročne retence znanja in veščin je bilo vključenih 116 učencev, dolgoročne retence znanja po 2 letih pa 96 učencev. V primerjavo z drugimi tečaji je bilo vključenih 148 učencev iz dveh drugih šol iz drugih krajev. Za preverjanje praktičnih veščin smo uporabili prirejen Cardiffov vprašalnik o TPO in AED in didaktične lutke (Little Anne QCPR, Laerdal Medical, Stavanger, Norway). Rezultati: Vsi vprašalniki so bili validirani za uporabo med osnovnošolci. Izboljšanje znanja takoj po tečaju je bilo znatno (83 % v primerjavi s 60 % pred tečajem), po petih mesecih in po dveh letih pa je značilno upadlo (73 % in 75 %), vendar je ostalo značilno boljše kot pred tečajem (p<0,001). Uspešnost izvajanja praktičnih veščin po petih mesecih je bila okoli 60 %. Končni model obnašanja je bil sestavljen iz treh teoretičnih konstruktov: samozavesti, pozitivne motivacije in amotivacije. Samozavest je imela največji vpliv na namero dejanskega izvajanja TPO in AED, pozitivna motivacija pa je bila močno povezana s samozavestjo. Pri primerjavi z drugimi tečaji je populacija učencev na slovenjgraškem tečaju izstopala z značilno boljšimi rezultati na testu znanja pred tečajem in po njem . Namera nudenja TPO in AED pa je bila po tečaju značilno višja med mariborskimi osnovnošolci v primerjavi z ostalima populacijama. Zaključek: Razviti instrumenti se lahko uporabijo za zanesljivo oceno uspešnosti tečajev TPO in AED na podlagi meritev spremembe znanja po tečaju ter vpliva tečaja na dejansko namero ukrepanja med osnovnošolci. Ugotovili smo, da odnos do TPO in AED ni tako kompleksen, kot smo predvidevali, kar oljaša delo inštruktorjem, saj poznavanje določenih konstruktov obnašanja ni bistveno. Najpomembnejši vpliv na namero za izvajanje TPO in AED ima samozavest, na katero lahko vplivamo z vsemi oblikami pozitivne motivacije. Zanesljivi podatki, zbrani z validiranimi instrumenti, se tako lahko predstavijo ustreznim institucijam za spodbuditev učinkovite vključitve tečajev TPO in AED med obvezne šolske vsebine.

Postopek uporabe brezpilotnikov v prometnem sistemu : magistrsko delo

Opis: To delo podaja osnovne napotke glede postopkov uporabe brezpilotnikov. Vsebuje podatke o veljavni evropski in slovenski zakonodaji na tem področju. Opisuje tudi vpeljavo konkretnega postopka vpeljave uporabe brezpilotnikov v poslovni proces podjetja. Delo je hkrati primer za zakonito uporabo brezpilotnikov. V delu je prepoznano problematično področje uporabe, ki ga delo poskuša rešiti s konkretnim primerom zakonitega pristopa uporabe brezpilotnikov, ki je v delu predstavljena kot raziskovalno delo s praktičnim primerom. Ugotovljeno je, da je zakonita pot uporabe brezpilotnikov možna in jasna, vendar za številna podjetja nesprejemljiva zaradi zahtevnega postopka upravljanja brezpilotnih sistemov.

High-Order Fiber Bragg Grating Corrosion Sensor Based on the Detection of a Local Surface Expansion

Opis: This paper presents a fiber optic sensor for the detection of corrosion processes that occur on metal surfaces. In the proposed sensor design, a sensing fiber with an inscribed high-order Bragg grating is attached to the observed metal surface. A broadening of high-order Bragg grating spectral characteristics is observed and used to detect small and highly localized longitudinal strain variations that occur along the fiber as a result of corrosive rust flakes' formations beneath the sensing fiber. The proposed approach provides a straightforward fabrication method, the possibility for unobtrusive mounting, including mounting of the sensor beneath the corrosion-protective layers, and consistent corrosion detection yields.

Recovery study of gold nanoparticle markers from lateral flow immunoassays

Opis: Lateral flow immunoassays (LFIAs) are a simple diagnostic device used to detect targeted analytes. Wasted and unused rapid antigen lateral flow immunoassays represent mass waste that needs to be broken down and recycled into new material components. The aim of this study was to recover gold nanoparticles that are used as markers in lateral flow immunoassays. For this purpose, a dissolution process with aqua regia was utilised, where gold nanoparticles were released from the lateral flow immunoassay conjugate pads. The obtained solution was then concentrated further with gold chloride salt (HAuCl4) so that it could be used for the synthesis of new gold nanoparticles in the process of ultrasonic spray pyrolysis (USP). Various characterisation methods including scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and optical emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma were used during this study. The results of this study showed that the recovery of gold nanoparticles from lateral flow immunoassays is possible, and the newly synthesised gold nanoparticles represent the possibility for incorporation into new products.

An All-Fiber Fabry–Pérot Sensor for Emulsion Concentration Measurements

Opis: This paper describes a Fabry-Perot sensor-based measuring system for measuring fluid composition in demanding industrial applications. The design of the sensor is based on a two-parametric sensor, which enables the simultaneous measurement of temperature and refractive index (RI). The system was tested under real industrial conditions, and enables temperature-compensated online measurement of emulsion concentration with a high resolution of 0.03 Brix. The measuring system was equipped with filtering of the emulsion and automatic cleaning of the sensor, which proved to be essential for successful implementation of a fiber optic RI sensor in machining emulsion monitoring applications.

Impact of transport trends on sustainability in the Western Balkans : a future-oriented business sector perspective

Opis: Abstract This study examines the impact of emerging transport trends on the Western Balkans and their potential to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the transport sector in the region. In the context of global efforts to reduce environmental impacts and improve transport safety, the study aims to better understand the perspective of the business sector in order to align strategic planning for the introduction of new transport technologies and practices with the expectations of the business sector. Using a questionnaire-based survey on the Mentimeter platform, the study gathers insights from 49 transport and logistics experts. The analysis uses violin plots and heat maps to visualise the expected impact of the identified trends. The results show a consensus among the experts that the emerging trends are likely to lead to a reduction in accidents, congestion, and emissions, while at the same time increasing operating costs and investment in infrastructure. In particular, trends such as alternative fuels, electrification, and smart city initiatives are highlighted as important drivers for reducing emissions. The study concludes that while these trends are likely to lead to the achievement of environmental and safety goals, they also lead to economic challenges as operating costs increase and significant infrastructure investment is required. The study emphasises the need for strategic investment, policy adjustments, and capacity building to lead the Western Balkans towards a sustainable transport future.

The digital twin for physical E/E system : master thesis

Opis: As the market of electrified vehicles is rapidly growing, the requirements for new products are also increasing, meaning the required development and production times are getting increasingly shorter. Therefore, the major interest in current active research is how to optimize the development process. Within this master’s thesis, we developed the base framework for a digital twin for wiring harness development and cross section optimization. It allows engineering teams to develop a digital replica of the desired physical system, which can be the basis for further review and optimization analyses, already at the development stage.
