1. Design and fabrication of a demonstration model for promoting low-carbon energy technologiesMarko Pezdevšek, Garsija Kosinac, Boštjan Pišotek, Andrej Predin, Andraž Roger, Matej Fike, Gorazd Hren, 2025, strokovni članek Opis: This article presents the design, construction and educational application of a large-scale model representing renewable energy facilities that do not yet exist. The model features a circular layout with a diameter of 2 metres, divided into two halves: the Mokrice Hydropower Plant and a nuclear power plant with an accompanying low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste repository. The Mokrice half highlights key ecological and technical features, including two fish passages and a solar power plant installation, with realistic water effects achieved using epoxy resin. The nuclear half includes a removable low- and intermediate-level radioactive waste repository, allowing viewers to explore the storage arrangements via a cross-sectional view. All the components were fabricated using FDM 3D printing, assembled, finished with paint and landscaping materials, and mounted on a wooden base with a metal support structure. While the model was not intended to achieve exact technical scaling, it communicates complex energy infrastructures effectively, facilitating public understanding, awareness and dialogue about low-carbon technologies. The combination of additive manufacturing, interactive features and detailed landscape representation, demonstrates the value of models as tools for education, demonstration, and the promotion of sustainable energy solutions. 2. Preučitev možnosti energetske izrabe odpadkov : diplomsko deloŽiga Tibljaš, 2025, diplomsko delo Opis: Odpadki in njihova predelava je osnovna tema diplomske naloge. Raziskano je področje gospodarjenja z odpadki, trenutna situacija v Sloveniji, in predvsem možnosti, ki jih nudi sodobna tehnologija, da odpadke izrabimo kot koristen vir energije. Razloženi so posamezni postopki, s katerimi odstranjujemo raznovrstne odpadke, da iz njih pridelujemo alternativna goriva kot stranski produkt. Poudarek je na okoljevarstvenem vidiku odpadkov. V diplomski nalogi je na postopkih pojasnjeno, da so lahko odpadki koristni človeku in okolju, saj predstavljajo pomemben obnovljivi energijski vir in surovino. Pomemben vidik, ki je vsebovan v nalogi, je ovrednotenje procesov in nastalih produktov predelave in odstranitve odpadkov. 3. Analytical, numerical and experimental performance prediction of a model-sized wind turbineMatej Fike, Andrej Predin, Gorazd Hren, Marko Pezdevšek, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The present work focuses on the comparison of the capabilities of Blade Element Momentum Theory, with and without the high induction factor value model and Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling in relation to experimental measurements of the power coefficient for a model-sized horizontal axial wind turbine. Initially, an analytical investigation was performed to obtain the power coefficient curve. Furthermore, three-dimensional numerical simulations were performed, where a lot of effort was devoted to the preparation of a low y+ structured mesh. Analytical and numerical results of the power coefficient were compared with experimental results, which were obtained with our own conducted experiments in the wind tunnel. The most significant conclusions are that the classic BEM method deviates from measured data in the entire range of tip speed ratios, the BEM method with Spera correction predicts a significantly better agreement with experimental measurements compared to the classic BEM method, especially the part where the power coefficient decreases and finally that CFD computations can accurately predict the performance of wind turbines and compute the flow around an aerofoil of the blade. 5. The impact of wind power plant size on economic viability at the Ojstrica locationAndraž Roger, Matej Fike, 2025, strokovni članek Opis: Wind energy in Slovenia has not yet achieved a significant share in the energy resource mix, due primarily to the limited number of suitable locations and opposition from local communities. Nevertheless, interest in wind power plants is increasing, as they represent significant potential for utilising renewable energy sources. The paper analyses the economic viability of wind farm installation and electricity production at the proposed Ojstrica site in the Dravograd Municipality. Two scenarios were considered, involving wind turbines with capacities of 3.5 MW and 7 MW. Based on wind speed data, turbine power curves, and an electricity selling price of 75 EUR/MWh, the study calculated the maximum investment costs for each turbine type to ensure economic viability under the condition of a net present value (NPV) equal to zero. The results show that the maximum allowable investment is 5.99 million EUR for the 3.5 MW turbine and 15.60 million EUR for the 7 MW turbine. 6. Assessing the effects of a hydropower plant basin on fish spawning in an upstream river tributaryGorazd Hren, Andrej Predin, Matej Fike, Marko Pezdevšek, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This paper presents a combined modeling approach to evaluate the ecological effects on the habitat of an upstream tributary of a river with a series of hydropower plants. The influence is investigated of the last planned hydropower plant to be built, which has a large impact on the river ecosystem. The new hydropower plant basin will affect the tributary with hydropeaking in the upstream basin. A simulation was conducted of spawning conditions for two protected fish species. The analysis combined a hydro-morphological model with a fish module that considers the water depth and velocity necessary for fish reproduction. The different river discharge scenarios were simulated, incorporating the hydropeaking effects of the new hydropower plant basin on the upstream tributary. With the new hydropower plant, sustainable measures are planned to prevent the damaging negative impacts that could lead to the degradation of the river ecosystem and the destruction of the existing ecosystem at the river’s confluence. The results indicate that, after the hydropower plant begins operation, the habitat`s suitability will decrease, and the planned sustainable measures will not provide a fully satisfactory solution. 8. Meritev tokovnega polja pri obtekanju modelov avtomobilov z uporabo metode piv : diplomsko deloJovan Bijeljić, 2024, diplomsko delo Opis: Diplomsko delo obravnava vizualizacijo in analizo aerodinamičnih pojavov okoli modela avtomobila pri različnih hitrostih vetra s pomočjo metode PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). Meritve so bile izvedene pri štirih hitrostih vetra: 0,5 m/s, 0,9 m/s, 1,2 m/s in 1,5 m/s. Sistem PIV, ki vključuje lasersko tehnologijo in visoko hitrostne kamere, je omogočil natančno vizualizacijo zračnih tokov in turbulentnosti okoli modela. Rezultati kažejo, da višje hitrosti vetra povzročajo večje turbulence in motnje v tokovih, kar negativno vpliva na stabilnost in zračni upor vozila. Zaključki poudarjajo pomen aerodinamične optimizacije za izboljšanje zmogljivosti in varnosti vozil. 9. Analiza OBD podatkov motorja vozila : diplomsko deloRok Konečnik, 2024, diplomsko delo Opis: Diplomsko delo obravnava zgradbo in delovanje OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) sistemov s poudarkom na emisijah CO2 in NOx. OBD sistemi so ključni za nadzor in diagnostiko vozil, saj omogočajo spremljanje delovanja motorja in zaznavanje napak, ki lahko vplivajo na emisije škodljivih snovi.
Delo obravnava tudi uporabo AdBlue, ki se uporablja v dizelskih vozilih za zmanjšanje emisij NOx. Sistem vbrizgava AdBlue v izpušni sistem, kjer se raztopina v reakciji z vročimi izpušnimi plini pretvori v amoniak, ki nato v katalizatorju zmanjša emisije NOx. Pravilna uporaba AdBlue je ključna za zmanjšanje emisij NOx brez večjega vpliva na emisije CO2, s čimer se izboljša okoljska učinkovitost vozil.
Delo vključuje pregled komponent, ki so ključne za natančno spremljanje emisij in pravilno delovanje sistema za zmanjševanje emisij. OBD sistemi so zasnovani tako, da zaznajo odstopanja v emisijah in sprožijo opozorila ali prilagoditve v delovanju motorja, da zagotovijo skladnost z okoljskimi predpisi. S pravilno vzdrževanim OBD sistemom in uporabo AdBlue lahko vozila dosežejo optimalno delovanje in skladnost z okoljskimi standardi. 10. Načrtovanje usedalnika sedimentov in izračun parametrov male hidroelektrarne : diplomsko deloMarko Sinđelić, 2024, diplomsko delo Opis: V svojem zaključnem delu smo se osredotočili na razvoj malih hidroelektrarn (MHE) kot trajnostnega vira energije. Preučili smo različne vrste usedalnikov in njihove značilnosti, ter izračunali ključne parametre za optimizacijo delovanja MHE, kot sta padec tlaka in hidravlični udar. Namen dela je bil izboljšati učinkovitost MHE s pravilnim dimenzioniranjem usedalnika, kar vodi k zmanjšanju abrazivnega delovanja sedimentov na turbinske sisteme. Delo se torej nanaša na področje obnovljivih virov energije in hidroelektrarne. Zaključili smo, da je optimizacija ključna za učinkovito delovanje MHE. Priporočamo nadaljnje raziskave v smeri izboljšanja učinkovitosti usedalnikov in večjega izkoriščanja obnovljivih virov energije.
