1. Pleteršnikova dediščina : ob stoletnici smrti Maksa Pleteršnika2024, revija Opis: Urednik Marko Jesenšek je pripravil vrhunsko znanstveno delo s področja slovenskega slovaropisja. V monografiji, ki ima 20 samostojnih poglavij, so predstavljeni najnovejši dosežki na področju eSSKJ-a, Slovarja pregovorov in sorodnih paremioloških izrazov, Sprotnega slovarja slovenskega jezika, Rastočega besednjaka SLA, Slovarja slovenskega taroka, jezikovne terminologije v Pleteršnikovem slovarju in njegove makronske dediščine, analize Pleteršnikove rokopisne zbirke zemljepisnih imen in številnih drugih pomembnih ozko slovaropisnih vprašanj s področja sinhronije in diahronije. Pri pisanju so sodelovali najbolj aktivni slovenski jezikoslovci, ki se na Slovenski akademiji znanosti in umetnosti, na ZRC SAZU, na Univerzi v Ljubljani in Univerzi v Mariboru ukvarjajo s slovenskim slovaropisjem ter življenjem in delom Maksa Pleteršnika.
Znanstvena monografija Pleteršnikova dediščina je nastala ob stoletnici smrti znamenitega slovaropisca Maksa Pleteršnika (* 3. 12. 1840, Pišece, † 13. 9. 1923, Pišece). Gre za inovativno, aktualno in doslej najpopolnejše delo s področja slovaropisja, ki promovira slovensko jezikoslovno znanost in razširja vedenje o slovenski kulturni in jezikoslovni dediščini. Vplivi sedativov pri dolgotrajni sedaciji in mehanski ventilacijiTjaša Vrečar, 2024, diplomsko delo Opis: Nadzorovana mehanska ventilacija v kombinaciji s sedativi predstavlja ključno terapevtsko strategijo pri kritično bolnih pacientih na enotah intenzivne terapije, katerih zdravje zahteva neprekinjen nadzor skozi ves dan. Kljub učinkovitosti pa je treba pri predpisovanju sedativov izkazovati skrajno previdnost, saj lahko njihova nepravilna uporaba privede do trajnih neželenih učinkov ter celo do razvoja odvisnosti. 3. Modelling of dysregulated glucagon secretion in type 2 diabetes by considering mitochondrial alterations in pancreatic ▫$\alpha$▫-cellsVladimir Grubelnik, Rene Markovič, Saška Lipovšek Delakorda, Gerd Leitinger, Marko Gosak, Jurij Dolenšek, Ismael Valladolid-Acebes, Per-Olof Berggren, Andraž Stožer, Matjaž Perc, Marko Marhl, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) has been associated with insulin resistance and the failure of β-cells to produce and secrete enough insulin as the disease progresses. However, clinical treatments based solely on insulin secretion and action have had limited success. The focus is therefore shifting towards α-cells, in particular to the dysregulated secretion of glucagon. Our qualitative electron-microscopy-based observations gave an indication that mitochondria in α-cells are altered in Western-diet-induced T2DM. In particular, α-cells extracted from mouse pancreatic tissue showed a lower density of mitochondria, a less expressed matrix and a lower number of
cristae. These deformities in mitochondrial ultrastructure imply a decreased efficiency in mitochondrial ATP production, which prompted us to theoretically explore and clarify one of the most challenging problems associated with T2DM, namely the lack of glucagon secretion in hypoglycaemia and its oversecretion at high blood glucose concentrations. To this purpose, we constructed a novel computational model that links α-cell metabolism with their electrical activity and glucagon secretion. Our results show that defective mitochondrial metabolism in α-cells can
account for dysregulated glucagon secretion in T2DM, thus improving our understanding of T2DM pathophysiology and indicating possibilities for new clinical treatments.

4. Mitochondrial dysfunction in pancreatic alpha and beta cells associated with type 2 diabetes mellitusVladimir Grubelnik, Jan Zmazek, Rene Markovič, Marko Gosak, Marko Marhl, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a complex multifactorial disease of epidemic proportions. It involves genetic and lifestyle factors that lead to dysregulations in hormone secretion and metabolic homeostasis. Accumulating evidence indicates that altered mitochondrial structure, function, and particularly bioenergetics of cells in different tissues have a central role in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus. In the present study, we explore how mitochondrial dysfunction impairs the coupling between metabolism and exocytosis in the pancreatic alpha and beta cells. We demonstrate that reduced mitochondrial ATP production is linked with the observed defects in insulin and glucagon secretion by utilizing computational modeling approach. Specifically, a 30-40% reduction in alpha cells' mitochondrial function leads to a pathological shift of glucagon secretion, characterized by oversecretion at high glucose concentrations and insufficient secretion in hypoglycemia. In beta cells, the impaired mitochondrial energy metabolism is accompanied by reduced insulin secretion at all glucose levels, but the differences, compared to a normal beta cell, are the most pronounced in hyperglycemia. These findings improve our understanding of metabolic pathways and mitochondrial bioenergetics in the pathology of type 2 diabetes mellitus and might help drive the development of innovative therapies to treat various metabolic diseases. 5. Izdelava zahtevnejših elaboratov vodenja in zavarovanja prometa v času gradnje: primer protipoplavne ureditve Selške SoreMarko Bašadur, 2024, magistrsko delo Opis: Namen magistrskega dela je predstaviti teoretične okvirje in pravilnike za področje vodenja in zavarovanja prometa v času gradnje in za postavitev cestnih zapor. Predstavili smo slovensko zakonodajo na področju cestnih zapor pa tudi primere iz tujine ter evropsko regulativo. Opisali smo programe, ki so se uporabljali za izdelavo elaborata. V praktičnem delu smo predstavili izdelavo zahtevnejšega elaborata vodenja in zavarovanja prometa v času gradnje na primeru protipoplavne ureditve Selške Sore. Elaborat služi za pridobitev stroškovne ocene in za preveritev izvedbe gradnje. Obravnavi projekt je bil v času pisanja magistrske naloge že v izvajanju, zato smo lahko primerjali izdelano projektno dokumentacijo z izvedenim stanjem na terenu- Prikazali smo tudi fotografije s terena v času izvedbe gradbenih del. Ugotovljeno je bilo, da se sama izvedba zapore na terenu razlikuje od predvidene v izdelanem elaboratu. 6. However, much research in the area has neglected to consider all voices of those (i.e., children) affected by tourism. This study, employing a post-test only experimental design, addresses this gap by including the voices of 498 children from six diverse European destinations concerning perceptions of tourism. Results show that children are willing to express their opinions given the opportunity. Moreover, their attitude towards tourists is negative, while they perceive locals to hold a subordinate position to tourists. In general, this study offers insight into children's attitudes to tourism from the host perspective, demonstrating that there is a unique insider's perspective that needs further research. Examining diffuse highly reflective (DHR), general reflective (GR), and retro-reflective (RR) materials on a simplified building model during summer days, the research utilizes outdoor experiments to analyze air and surface temperatures, as well as solar radiation. Prioritizing key metrics—mean radiant temperature (MRT), operative temperature (OT), and solar reflectance (ρ)—the study uncovers nuanced distinctions in DHR, GR, and RR materials. Solar reflectance calculations consistently show higher values for DHR and RR materials compared to GR material, highlighting reflectance's pivotal role in influencing surface temperatures and indoor thermal environment. When evaluating the impact of exterior wall materials on building temperatures, RR material with a 76% reflectance performs similarly to DHR material (82%). Notably, with a 6% lower reflectance in RR, the temperature contrast between external and internal walls is only about 1.5 °C at its maximum, underscoring RR's effectiveness as an outer wall material for UHI mitigation and building energy conservation, surpassing both DHR and GR materials. Pradelski, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Social distancing is an efective strategy to mitigate the impact of infectious diseases. If sick or healthy, or both, predominantly socially distance, the epidemic curve fattens. Contact reductions may occur for diferent reasons during a pandemic including health-related mobility loss (severity of symptoms), duty of care for a member of a high-risk group, and forced quarantine. Other decisions to reduce contacts are of a more voluntary nature. In particular, sick people reduce contacts consciously to avoid infecting others, and healthy individuals reduce contacts in order to stay healthy. We use game theory to formalize the interaction of voluntary social distancing in a partially infected population. This improves the behavioral micro-foundations of epidemiological models, and predicts diferential social distancing rates dependent on health status. The model's key predictions in terms of comparative statics are derived, which concern changes and interactions between social distancing behaviors of sick and healthy. We ft the relevant parameters for endogenous social distancing to an epidemiological model with evidence from infuenza waves to provide a benchmark for an epidemic curve with endogenous social distancing. Our results suggest that spreading similar in peak and case numbers to what partial immobilization of the population produces, yet quicker to pass, could occur endogenously. Going forward, eventual social distancing orders and lockdown policies should be benchmarked against more realistic epidemic models that take endogenous social distancing into account, rather than be driven by static, and therefore unrealistic, estimates for social mixing that intrinsically overestimate spreading. 10. Uporaba biometrije na pametnih telefonih med študenti : diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Informacijska varnostAnže Lajlar, 2024, diplomsko delo Opis: Izraz biometrija izvira iz starogrške besede bios, ki pomeni življenje, in besede metric, ki pomeni meritev. Biometrija je veda, ki se ukvarja s prepoznavo ljudi in njihovih telesnih, fizioloških in tudi vedenjskih značilnosti. Z biometrijo je možno prepoznati posameznika na podlagi prstnega odtisa, posnetka papilarnih linij s prsta, šarenice, očesne mrežnice, obraza, ušesa, DNK in načina drže. Biometrija je tehnologija, s katero preverjamo identiteto posameznikov na podlagi njihovih fizičnih lastnosti. Ta v primerjavi s starejšimi modeli varnostnega mehanizma, ki so uporabljali PIN in gesla, uporablja naprednejši varnostni mehanizem, ki temelji na prepoznavanju individualne značilnosti osebe. V sklopu diplomskega dela je bila opravljena raziskava o uporabi biometrije na pametnih telefonih med študenti. V njej je sodelovalo 124 študentov. Iz rezultatov ankete je bilo ugotovljeno, da večina študentov uporablja biometrijo na svojih pametnih telefonih, zavedajo se, kako se zavarovati pred različnimi napadi na biometrične podatke, in da večina anketiranih zaupa varnosti biometričnih funkcij in v njihovo delovanje. Opaziti je še, da se od 40 do 50 % anketiranih študentov ne strinja z implementacijo biometričnih funkcij v druge sfere študentskega življenja in z njihovo uporabo na fakultetah. Ugotovljeno je tudi, da večina študentov pozna dve vrsti uporabe biometrije na pametnih telefonih. Izmed njih sta najpogostejša prstni odtis in prepoznava obraza.
