Statistically significant differences in AI support levels for project management between SMEs and large enterprises

Opis: Background: This article delves into an in-depth analysis of the statistically significant differences in AI support levels for project management between SMEs and large enterprises. The research was conducted based on a comprehensive survey encompassing a sample of 473 SMEs and large Slovenian enterprises. Methods: To validate the observed differences, statistical analysis, specifically the Mann–Whitney U test, was employed. Results: The results confirm the presence of statistically significant differences between SMEs and large enterprises across multiple dimensions of AI support in project management. Large enterprises exhibit on average a higher level of AI adoption across all five AI utilization dimensions. Specifically, large enterprises scored significantly higher (p < 0.05) in AI adopting strategies and in adopting AI technologies for project tasks and team creation. This study’s findings also underscored the significant differences (p < 0.05) between SMEs and large enterprises in their adoption and utilization of AI technologies for project management purposes. While large enterprises scored above 4 for several dimensions, with the highest average score assessed (mean value 4.46 on 1 to 5 scale) for the usage of predictive Analytics Tools to improve the work on the project, SMEs’ average levels, on the other hand, were all below 4. SMEs in particular may lag in incorporating AI into various project activities due to several factors such as resource constraints, limited access to AI expertise, or risk aversion. Conclusions: The results underscore the need for targeted strategies to enhance AI adoption in SMEs and leverage its benefits for successful project implementation and strengthen the company’s competitiveness.

Upravljanje talentov v digitalni dobi

Opis: Raziskava obravnava digitalizacijo v kontekstu upravljanja talentov in organizacijskega razvoja v digitalni dobi. V današnjem hitrem in dinamičnem poslovnem okolju digitalizacija oblikuje vse vidike poslovanja organizacij, vključno z menedžmentom človeških virov. V tem kontekstu postaja upravljanje talentov vse pomembnejši proces za dosego in ohranjanje konkurenčne prednosti organizacij. Digitalna orodja, kot so umetna inteligenca in sistemi za podporo odločanju, izboljšujejo preglednosti in omogočajo etično usmerjene odločitve, kar pripomore k večji natančnosti in preglednosti v organizacijskih procesih. Hkrati digitalizacija prinaša izzive, kot so povečana konkurenca pri pridobivanju talentov ter izzivi pri usklajevanju poklicnega in zasebnega življenja, kar zahteva uvedbo politik, kot je pravica do odklopa, da bi preprečili izgorelost zaposlenih. Poleg tega digitalna orodja pozitivno vplivajo na razvoj kompetenc, karierni napredek in izboljšanje zadrževanja talentov. Vendar digitalizacija prinaša tudi izzive, kot so manjša osebna interakcija in večja fluktuacija zaposlenih. Digitalizacija torej preoblikuje prakse upravljanja talentov, vendar zahteva premišljeno strategijo za obvladovanje negativnih vplivov, kot so izgorelost in težave pri usklajevanju osebnega in poklicnega življenja. Uspešna implementacija digitalnih orodij v organizacijah je mogoča le, če se upoštevajo izzivi ter oblikujejo ustrezne strategije, ki omogočajo polno izkoriščanje prednosti digitalne preobrazbe. Tako lahko organizacije v celoti izkoristijo potencial digitalnih orodij za razvoj in upravljanje talentov v dinamičnem poslovnem okolju.

A comparative study using two SEM techniques on different samples sizes for determining factors of older employeeʹs motivation and satisfaction

Opis: The purpose of this article is to present the relationships among older employee stress, motivation, satisfaction, and relationships in the workplace using two different approaches and different sample sizes. Research was implemented on an initial sample of 1013 older employees. In the next step, six smaller samples were calculated using the random selection of cases, namely samples with 25, 50, 100, 250, 400, and 500 older employees. This way the possible impact of sample size on relationships between latent variables using the covariance-based structural equation modeling (CB-SEM) and the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) methods was assessed. The results on the larger samples have proved to be quite robust since they were confirmed with both approaches. They indicate that stress has a strong and negative impact on employee relationships and also a negative impact on employee satisfaction. Furthermore, employee relationships have a strong and positive impact on satisfaction and a positive impact on employee motivation. In addition, satisfaction has a strong and positive impact on employee motivation. The present paper helps readers to better understand the difference between the CB-SEM and the PLS-SEM methods. Researchers should be encouraged to use both techniques, even though CB-SEM methods have had a long tradition in management and marketing research since both fields heavily rely on psychometric measurement. From the organizational point of view, conclusions highlight the importance of the impact the variables of older employee stress, motivation, satisfaction and employee relations have on each other in the workplace.

Benchmarking : primerjalna analiza v turizmu

Opis: Učbenik "Benchmarking – Primerjalna analiza v turizmu" ponuja podroben vpogled v proces benchmarking analize, ki se uporablja za ocenjevanje in izboljšanje podjetij, organizacij in tudi turističnih destinacij. Avtorici najprej predstavita teoretične osnove benchmarkinga, vključno z definicijami, tipi in fazami analize. Učbenik se v drugem delu osredotoča na praktične primere, ki so jih izvedli študenti na Fakulteti za turizem Univerze v Mariboru. To omogoča bralcem, da razumejo, kako se teoretične koncepte aplicira v realnem svetu na realne primere. Vključeni so konkretni primeri benchmarking analize, ki obravnavajo različne turistične destinacije, kar ponuja dragocene vpoglede v uspešne prakse in strategije. Učbenik je zasnovan tako, da je učni pripomoček za študente in strokovnjake v turizmu ter hkrati spodbuja uporabo benchmarkinga kot orodja za izboljšanje turistične ponudbe in trajnostnega razvoja. S tem učbenik prispeva k razumevanju in implementaciji benchmarkinga v turistični industriji.

Fostering SDG Content Integration in the Economics and Business Undergraduate Curriculum: A Faculty-Driven Mapping Approach

Opis: The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB UM) initiated a project to align its undergraduate study program with sustainable development principles. This involved mapping the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the curriculum, using recommended keywords and faculty assessments. The exercise aimed to objectively showcase current sustainability integration and to identify areas for enhanced sustainable practice infusion. The method entailed both the direct and indirect consideration of SDG content. This endeavor heightened faculty awareness and enthusiasm for incorporating the SDGs, highlighting the significance of aligning academic programs with global sustainability objectives. This study has offered a framework for similar institutions aiming to boost sustainability through curriculum mapping and active faculty engagement.

The physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms of health problems among employees before and during the COVID-19 epidemic

Opis: Purpose: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) epidemic has caused stress for everyone and impacted the lives of people globally. Such stress increases troubles for the employees. Therefore, the aim of the paper isto identify symptoms of health problems that employees face during the COVID-19 epidemic. Also, the aim ofthe paper is to examine if there are statistically significant differences in the physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms of health problems among employees before the COVID-19 epidemic and employees during theCOVID-19 epidemic. Design/methodology/approach: The research is based on a survey of 950 employees in Slovenian companies. The factor analysis and thet-test for two independent samples were used to test the hypotheses ofthe research. Findings: The results show that physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms of health problems ofemployees during the COVID-19 epidemic are intensified as compared to the before COVID-19 epidemic era. Originality/value: The results highlight the measures with which companies can reduce the problem of different symptoms of employees during the COVID-19 epidemic. The results can be useful for employers and for managers who want to create an adequate working environment for employees during the COVID-19epidemic.

The appropriate work environment for older employees : the case of Slovenia

Opis: Background: The increase in population life expectancy in developed economies is also reflected in the aging of the workforce; therefore, enterprises should create an appropriate work environment for all employees, emphasizing the older ones. Objectives: The major objectives of this paper are to establish the impact of appropriate working conditions and training programs for older employees on their work motivation, as well as to establish the latter’s impact on the older employees’ work engagement in Slovenian medium-sized and large enterprises. Methods/Approach: Structural equation modeling explored the links between four constructs – appropriate working conditions, training programs, work motivation, and work engagement. Results: In Slovenian enterprises, appropriate working conditions and training programs for older employees positively impact their work motivation. Moreover, the work motivation of older employees positively impacts their work engagement. Conclusions: These findings can be useful for employers or managers for developing targeted employee motivation and employee engagement programs to leverage the talents and dedication of older employees.

Building organisational sustainability during the COVID-19 pandemic with an inspiring work environment

Opis: This article aims to analyse significant differences in four constructs: occupational stress, job satisfaction, work engagement, and work productivity among employees before and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the paper is to develop a multidimensional model with these four constructs and analyse the differences in the strength of their effects on the model across two intersectional times: before the COVID-19 pandemic and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research was implemented on a sample of 885 employees in Slovenian organisations. During COVID-19, Slovenia had one of the strictest lockdowns. Based on the research, we can confirm significant differences in the four analysed constructs among employees before COVID-19 and during COVID-19. Based on the results, we can confirm that occupational stress had a more negative effect on job satisfaction and work engagement during COVID-19 than before prior to it. Our research and conclusions highlight the measures with which organisations can reduce the problem of occupational stress and with which organisations can increase job satisfaction, work engagement and work productivity among employees during COVID-19. Based on this, organisations may be able to build a more supportive work environment during, and after, COVID-19.

Vpliv internega marketinga na delovno izgorelost zaposlenih, delovno zavzetost zaposlenih in pohvale na delovnem mestu v slovenskih podjetjih

Opis: Interni marketing postaja eden izmed ključnih marketinških strategij podjetij. Podjetja z vlaganjem v svoje zaposlene na način, da usposabljajo in razvijajo njihove spretnosti ter sposobnosti, vplivajo na to, da so njihovi zaposleni motivirani za dobro opravljanje svojega dela. Tako torej interni marketing obravnava svoje zaposlene kot interne odjemalce, s katerimi poskuša podjetje vzpostaviti proces menjave in na ta način vplivati na zadovoljstvo svojih zaposlenih. V preteklosti in še danes raziskovalci dajejo vse večji poudarek prav tako na delovno izgorelost zaposlenih, ki se med njimi vse bolj pojavlja, zaradi prevelikega stresa ter delovnih obremenitev na delovnem mestu. V zvezi s tem sta povezani tudi delovna zavzetost zaposlenih in pohvale na delovnem mestu, ki na drugi strani pozitivno vplivajo na produktivnost ter pozitivne odnose. Magistrsko delo je sestavljeno iz teoretičnega in empiričnega dela. V teoretičnem delu smo opredelili interni marketing, zapisali razsežnosti oz. dimenzije internega marketinga in vpliv internega marketinga na kakovost storitev. Poleg tega smo opredelili delovno izgorelost zaposlenih, proučili dejavnike, ki vplivajo na delovno izgorelost, simptome in posledice delovne izgorelosti ter preprečevanje in odpravljanje delovne izgorelosti. Prav tako smo opredelili delovno zavzetost zaposlenih, zapisali posledice in razsežnosti delovne zavzetosti zaposlenih, dejavnike, ki vplivajo na delovno zavzetost zaposlenih ter proučili krepitev delovne zavzetosti zaposlenih. Kot zadnje smo še opredelili pohvale na delovnem mestu in proučili izražanje pohval na delovnem mestu. V empiričnem delu smo raziskovali, ali so zaposleni v Slovenskih podjetjih delovno izgoreli in delovno zavzeti. Poleg tega smo raziskovali, ali interni marketing vpliva na delovno izgorelost zaposlenih, delovno zavzetost zaposlenih in na pohvale na delovnem mestu. Vse pridobljene podatke smo pridobili s pomočjo anketnega vprašalnika, ki je bil objavljen na socialnem omrežju Facebook, poleg tega pa smo spletni naslov anketnega vprašalnika poslali naključno izbranim anketirancem. Rezultati kažejo, da zaposleni v slovenskih podjetjih niso delovno izgoreli. Poleg tega smo ugotovili, da so zaposleni v slovenskih podjetjih delovno zavzeti, saj smo zastavljeno hipotezo delno potrdili. Ugotavljamo še, da interni marketing delno vpliva na delovno izgorelost zaposlenih, delovno zavzetost zaposlenih in na pohvale na delovnem mestu, saj smo vse tri hipoteze delno potrdili.

Statistika z raziskovalnimi metodami

Opis: V današnjem hitro spreminjajočem se poslovnem okolju je ključnega pomena sposobnost razumevanja in uporabe statistike za sprejemanje utemeljenih poslovnih odločitev. Napredovanje tehnologije in povečevanje obsega podatkovnih baz omogoča podrobno analizo in interpretacijo podatkov, ki so temelj za prepoznavanje ključnih prihodnjih trendov in oblikovanje strategij na tej osnovi. V pričujoči zbirki obravnavamo statistična metodološka orodja, ki pomagajo pri razumevanju vpliva različnih dejavnikov na posamezne ekonomske in poslovne kategorije in odločitve, analiziramo sezonske komponente v časovnih vrstah ter opredeljujemo napovedovanje vrednosti v prihodnjih časovnih enotah, analiziramo večdimenzionalne spremenljivke in pristopamo k statističnim konceptom preverjanja domnev o različnih lastnostih statistične množice na osnovi slučajnega vzorca. Z razumevanjem teh procesov lahko posamezniki oblikujejo učinkovite strategije, ki temeljijo na dejstvih in podatkih, ter se pripravijo na prihodnje izzive in izkoristijo dinamiko tržnih sprememb.
