Uporaba digitalnih dvojčkov za uspešno obvladovanje poslovnih sistemov v slovenskih podjetjihTimotej Hočevar, 2025, diplomsko delo Opis: Diplomsko delo obravnava uporabo digitalnih dvojčkov za obvladovanje poslovnih sistemov v Sloveniji. Namen raziskave je bil ugotoviti stopnjo uporabe tehnologije digitalnih dvojčkov ter prepoznati ključne prednosti, priložnosti in izzive. Področje raziskovanja se osredotoča na digitalne dvojčke kot eno ključnih tehnologij industrije 4.0, saj omogoča optimizacijo, napovedovanje in prilagajanje na tržne spremembe. V sklopu tega je bil pripravljen anketni vprašalnik in poslan zaposlenim v slovenskih poslovnih sistemih. Rezultati analize so pokazali, da 98 odstotkov zaposlenih te tehnologije ne uporablja. Kot glavna razloga za neuporabo sta bila izpostavljena pomanjkanje znanja in nejasne koristi. V diplomskem delu smo razvili model digitalnega dvojčka v poslovnem sistemu. Z njim smo povezali poslovne procese, kot so proizvodnja, trženje, skladiščenje, nabava in distribucija. Rezultat diplomskega dela je SWOT-analiza uporabe digitalnih dvojčkov. Na podlagi raziskave so podane smernice za spodbujanje uporabe digitalnih dvojčkov. 2. Key success factors in digital transformation : fundamentals developed from a bibliometric analysisTilen Medved, Tomaž Kern, Eva Krhač Andrašec, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The article analyses a multidimensional digital transformation process. Digital transformation is a change or shift in operational and strategic frameworks necessitated by the rapid advancement of digital technology. Digital transformation is more than the implementation of advanced technology, it requires a cultural shift towards constant experimentation and openness to failure. Such changes make the organization agile, efficient, and customer-orientated, with the ability to quickly integrate new, comprehensive data into the entire decision-making and innovation process. The purpose of the research was therefore to analyse the key success factors in digital transformation. The analysis serves as a basis for further theoretical research in this field and for practical implementation in organisational systems. As part of this research, a bibliometric analysis was carried out using the open-source tool VOSviewer. The analysis shows that digital transformation is particularly relevant in the fields of Computer Science; Business, Management and Accounting; and Engineering, namely in Germany, China and the Russian Federation. We have come to the conclusion that the key success factors in digital transformation are as follows: corporate organization and technology, collaboration and cultural change, holistic strategy, leadership and organizational structure, continuous learning and conformity to best practises.

3. An analysis of methods and techniques used for business process improvementEva Krhač Andrašec, Benjamin Urh, Matjaž Roblek, Tomaž Kern, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Background: More than 50 process-based approaches, methods, and techniques have been developed in recent decades to achieve more efficient operation of organizational systems. Due to increasingly rapid changes in the business environment, the question of which method or technique will have the most significant impact on increasing the organizational system’s competitive advantage is becoming increasingly important. Purpose: In the presented research, we focused on identifying methods and techniques often cited in the literature and most often used in practice as efficient for improving business processes. Methods: We prepared a 4-phase structured review of the available literature and supported the findings with survey research. Results and Conclusion: Based on the results, we designed a set of appropriate, most frequently used, and efficient methods and techniques for improving business processes. The completed research can serve as a starting point for answering the question about the appropriate methods and techniques for the chosen approach. In continuing the research, it would be reasonable to check other properties and the use of methods and techniques. Vloga naprednih tehnologij v inženiringu poslovnih sistemov2025, znanstvena monografija Opis: Poslovni sistemi se konstantno soočajo z neprestano potrebo po organizacijskih spremembah, da bi v spreminjajočem poslovnem okolju ostali še naprej učinkoviti, uspešni in konkurenčni. Ena od možnih poti je uporaba naprednih tehnologij, razvitih z namenom uporabe velike količine dostopnih podatkov, da bi olajšali delo in izboljšali poslovanje poslovnih sistemov. V ta namen avtorji v svojih poglavjih predstavljajo osnove različnih naprednih tehnologij. Na podlagi pregledov literature in izvedenih raziskav bralcem približajo možnosti praktične uporabe naprednih tehnologij v različnih poslovnih sistemih. V svojih poglavjih avtorji razpravljajo o potencialih in trenutnih izzivih uporabe napredne tehnologije. Med ključne dejavnike uspeha napredne tehnologije uvrščajo vodenje, celovito strategijo, organizacijsko strukturo in kulturo, sodelovanje vseh deležnikov ter pripravljenost na učenje in upoštevanje dobrih praks. 5. Digital transformation reduces costs of the paints and coatings development processTomaž Kern, Eva Krhač Andrašec, Benjamin Urh, Marjan Senegačnik, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: An essential characteristic of the new product development process is to develop a new marketable product in the shortest possible time with the lowest reasonable costs. Therefore, the key factor of the process is efficiency. The paints and coatings industry development process contain numerous laboratory tests to determine the appropriateness of new formulation. It is proven that digital transformation can reduce the number of laboratory tests and consequently shorten the throughput time of the development process. This raised the question of whether the faster development process also reduces the process’ cost, or they even increase due to information and communication technology implementation. Therefore, the research’s purpose was to determine whether reducing the number of laboratory tests, based on the implementation of information and communication technology (ICT), affects reducing costs in the paints and coatings development process. The conventional process and the redesigned process of paints and coatings development were used as the basis of the research. The comparative analysis of the costs incurred during the development process was made. The analysis compares the types and amount of incurred costs. The article proves that digital transformation has a significant impact on up to 48% on reducing costs of the paints and coatings development process. 6. Comparative analysis of human and artificial intelligence planning in production processesMatjaž Roblek, Tomaž Kern, Eva Krhač Andrašec, Alenka Brezavšček, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Artificial intelligence (AI) has found applications in enterprises′ production planning
processes. However, a critical question remains: could AI replace human planners? We conducted a
comparative analysis to evaluate the main task of planners in an intermittent process: planning the
duration of production orders. Specifically, we analysed the results of a human planner using master
data and those of an AI algorithm compared to the actual realisation. The case study was conducted
in a large production company using a sample of production products and machines. We were able
to confirm two of the three research questions (RQ1 and RQ3), while the results of the third question
(RQ2) did not meet our expectations. The AI algorithms demonstrated significant improvement with
each iteration. Despite this progress, it is still difficult to determine the exact threshold at which AI
outperforms human planners due to the unpredictability of unexpected events. Even though AI
significantly improves prediction accuracy, the inherent variability and incomplete input data pose a
major challenge. As progress is made, robust data collection and management strategies need to be
integrated to bridge the gap between the potential of AI and its practical application, fostering the

7. Implementation of the digital sales channel in the coatings industryEva Krhač Andrašec, Marjan Senegačnik, Benjamin Urh, Tomaž Kern, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The development process in the coatings industry can be shortened by digital transformation, and its costs can be reduced using a technical enabler. However, formulators need up-to-date and comprehensive data on existing and potential ingredients to develop the formulation. We were curious about how to supply formulators with data. The idea was that suppliers of ingredients provide data using the “common enabling technology”. We hypothesize that direct data entry compensates suppliers because they can shorten the sales process and increase sales. We used a survey to select key sales channels in the industry. Detailed process models were designed using structured interviews. We analyzed models using structural and operational indicators. Finally, we formed a new digital sales process and verified it. The results show that the digitally formatted sales process can be shortened by up to 32%. Simultaneously, more potential customers can be accessed using the common technology. Existing sales channels would not be closed down. Nevertheless, the digital sales channel is expected to prove its worth over time and gradually increase its share. The suppliers of ingredients can thus avoid a radical process transformation and the immediate integration of additional information technology into the company information system in such an evolutionary way. 8. An innovative approach to organizational changes for sustainable processes : a case study on waste minimizationEva Krhač Andrašec, Tomaž Kern, Benjamin Urh, 2023, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: It is necessary to adapt constantly to the business environment with its changing demands. Understanding the objectives, scope, and limitations of actual process changes is crucial, and can be achieved with numerous measures, methods, and techniques. This research demonstrates an innovative approach to organizational changes to enable sustainable processes. In the first part of this research, relevant measures, methods, and techniques are selected through an in-depth literature review. Then, an international online questionnaire is executed among 213 enterprises from four countries. In the last part of this research, the developed approach is tested for the example of waste minimization in the process of developing coatings. Based on the analysis of the survey questionnaire, the usability and benefits of various measures are demonstrated, namely from the point of view of their positive impact on structural and operational efficiency indicators. At the end of the article, a case study presents the success of the innovative approach in terms of 88% waste minimization and up to 48% time and cost reductions in the process of developing coatings. The proposed approach enables better choices to be made and the more efficient use of various measures, which can lead to more sustainable processes and improve the efficiency of enterprises. 9. 43rd International Conference on Organizational Science Development: Green and Digital Transition – Challenge or Opportunity : Conference Proceedings2024, zbornik recenziranih znanstvenih prispevkov na mednarodni ali tuji konferenci Opis: The 43rd International Scientific Conference on the Development of Organisational Science was held in Portorož from the 20th to the 22nd of March 2024. The main aim of the conference was to promote the importance of knowledge in the context of green and digital transtition of organizations, through academic and scientific debates and professional developments from the economic and non-economic worlds. The conference, which was held under the umbrella title " Green and Digital Transition - Challenge or Opportunity", aimed to highlight the importance of the green and digital transition for the successful achievement of organisational objectives and the appropriate overcoming of societal challenges. The objectives pursued in this context are related to the natural dimensions on the one hand, and to stimulating the economy through green technology, sustainable development and pollution reduction on the other. The green and digital transition is also an opportunity for organisations to make changes towards overarching environmental challenges. 10. Vpliv uporabe metod in tehnik izboljševanja poslovnih procesov na učinkovitost organizacijskih sistemovEva Krhač Andrašec, 2022, doktorska disertacija Opis: Prilagajanje organizacijskih sistemov spremembam v okolju je nujna stalnica. Organizacijske spremembe zahtevajo določen čas in resurse, ki bi jih bilo sicer mogoče uporabiti za izvajanje temeljne dejavnosti. Krepijo se vprašanja, povezana z dejanskim vplivom učinkov organizacijskih sprememb na konkurenčnost organizacijskih sistemov. Odgovor lahko poiščemo v različnih pristopih uvajanja sprememb. V disertaciji smo se omejili na procesne pristope, kjer analiziramo in izboljšujemo poslovne procese, čemur sledi implementacija sprememb v organizacijski sistem in prilagajanje ostalih vidikov organizacije.
V spirali spreminjajočih se poslovnih zahtev in ponavljajočih vprašanj je potrebno razumeti cilje sprememb in dejanske spremembe v poslovnih procesih, ki jih dosežemo z metodami in tehnikami, znotraj različnih pristopov izboljševanja poslovnih procesov. Namen pričujoče raziskave je ugotoviti uporabnost in koristi metod in tehnik izboljševanja poslovnih procesov ter potrditi, da je od njihove uporabe pomembno odvisno izboljšanje učinkovitosti organizacijskih sistemov.
V prvem delu raziskave je opravljen poglobljen pregled dostopne literature s področja obvladovanja poslovnih procesov. Pri tem so podrobno pregledani pojmi analize in izboljševanja poslovnih procesov ter na podlagi tega izbrani relevantni pristopi, metode in tehnike. Na tej osnovi je bil za izvedbo mednarodne raziskave oblikovan spletni anketni vprašalnik. Za relevantnost raziskave je bil oblikovan in verificiran vzorec respondentov. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 213 organizacijskih sistemov iz Slovenije, Hrvaške, Nemčije in Švedske.
Na podlagi opravljene analize rezultatov anketnega vprašalnika je potrjena osnovna teza raziskave vzročno-posledične povezave pozitivnega vpliva metod in tehnik izboljševanja poslovnih procesov na učinkovitost organizacijskih sistemov. Ugotovljeno je, da na izboljšanje učinkovitosti organizacijskih sistemov najbolj vplivajo naslednje metode in tehnike (navedene so po pozitivnem vplivu padajoče): Process Mapping/Process Modelling, Benchmarking, 5S, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis in Brainstorming. Zaključek raziskave predstavlja referenčni model uporabnosti in koristi metod in tehnik izboljševanja poslovnih procesov.
