Travel writing as an instrument of cultural heritage promotion
Jasna Potočnik Topler, Charlie Mansfield, Hugues Séraphin, Philipp Wassler, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This study contributes to the research literature through its approach to equipping tourism content creatives who are entering the professions of destination image communication with platform expertise alongside cooperation and co-creation leadership. Productive skills for travel writers and social media content producers in tourism are significant in the co-creation of sustainable tourist experiences since they are interactive and participative. The two purposes of this study are to implement and improve the dialogue journaling process as a re-usable methodology. The new 3-step processual research methodology is explained through a case study with stakeholders and project leaders in Brežice, Slovenia. The paper contributes to pragmatic tourism management concerns and practice by reporting findings from a real-world process project on cultural heritage that provides a re-usable solution.

Communicating tourism destinations through travel writing : a case study on travel content research in tourism co-creation
Charlie Mansfield, Zoë Roberts, Jasna Potočnik Topler, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: This research explores the intersection of travel writing pedagogy and professional practice through the creation and analysis of a travel writing portfolio. One of the researchers compiled a portfolio of nine travel texts to test the efficacy of the aim, design, assessment (ADA) apparatus – a tool designed for planning and evaluating travel writing. The study utilised close reading techniques, drawing on established literary and semiotic theories, to analyse the portfolio and assess the role of pedagogic knowledge in professionalizing travel writing. The research highlights the importance of structured, reflective practices in producing travel texts that are both engaging and informative. Additionally, the study advances travel writing methodology by incorporating journaling into a Web 2.0 archive, offering new insights into the dialogic process between researchers and stakeholders. While the study’s limitations include a lack of comparative data, it lays the groundwork for further exploration of travel writing’s pedagogic and professional dimensions. The findings underscore the value of integrating pedagogic theory with practical application, providing a framework for future research and professionalisation of the genre.

Building the ethnopôle : eliciting and sharing ethnobotanical knowledge in tourism development
Charlie Mansfield, Jasna Potočnik Topler, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek

Opis: With rising tourism interest in cultural heritage, destination management organisations, museums and other cultural institutions are seeking methods of unlocking the intangible cultural heritage of local residents and sharing that before it is lost. This is specific knowledge of the uses and practices of disappearing urban space, of plants and foodstuffs, of clothing and of work practices that were more in-tune with local, sustainable production. With the emergence of post-humanism, based on Deleuze's reading of Spinoza's ethics, this contribution outlines new methodologies in building the ethnopôle, and proposes a model for transmission that explores narrative knowing through literary travel writing for a new public.

An Online Museum of Stories : literary travel writing for cultural tourism development
Charlie Mansfield, Jasna Potočnik Topler, 2021, samostojni strokovni sestavek ali poglavje v monografski publikaciji

Opis: With rising tourism interest in cultural heritage, destination management organisations, museums and other cultural institutions are seeking methods of unlocking the intangible cultural heritage of local residents and sharing that before it is lost. This is specific knowledge of the uses and practices of disappearing spaces in towns, of plants and their uses as foodstuffs, and in clothing and of work practices that were more in-tune with local, sustainable production. This contribution outlines new methods for building the ethnographic museum as a museum of stories, and proposes a model that explores narrative through literary travel writing for a new public.

Active and Inclusive Teaching of Literacy and Communication Skills for Enhanced Employment and Sustainable Economic Growth
2023, druge monografije in druga zaključena dela

Opis: The monograph presents a part of the research work within the project "Active and Inclusive Teaching of Literacy and Communication Skills for Enhanced Employment and Sustainable Economic Growth (In-Comm Guide)," and underscores the significance of communication skills for both business success and personal development. These skills are deemed essential not only in academic achievements but also in the professional realm, with employers actively seeking them in prospective candidates. The monograph emerges as a product of the Erasmus+ initiative – the project was supported by the European Union and overseen by the Slovenian national agency CMEPIUS. Encompassing a consortium of institutions including the University of Maribor, University of Applied Sciences Zwickau, University of Pula, and University of Udine, the project aimed to develop communication skills curricula. This focus sought to bolster students' readiness for the job market while emphasizing non-verbal communication, sign languages, and linguistic proficiency, particularly in English. Within the monograph, the emphasis on innovative teaching methodologies, intercultural communication, and students' well-being converge. Moreover, attention is directed toward individuals with hearing impairments and the significance of non-verbal communication.

Spletne potopisne platforme : mobilni pripomočki in orodje razvoja trajnostnega turizma
