1. Students' reflection on the contribution of common teaching methods and compulsory school subjects to sustainable development in MontenegroSnežana Lješnjak, Danka Caković, Andrej Šorgo, 2026, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Youth education is key to building skills and awareness for meaningful change that leads to a sustainable future. The main objective of the survey was to identify the most commonly used teaching methods and to explore Montenegrin students' reflections on the importance of and satisfaction with the teaching of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in 9-year compulsory school subjects. The data was collected between September and November 2022 using an online application, with 705 students responding. The results showed that traditional teaching methods, characterised by teacher-centred instruction and passive student engagement, are still the predominant approach in compulsory education, indicating a gap between current practices and the holistic learning objectives of the ESD guidelines. Secondly, the study showed that the Native language had the greatest influence on students' sustainable habits, followed by biology, geography, maths, and nature. This suggests that the number of lessons per week can influence students' ESD knowledge, although subjects with fewer lessons can still have an impact if they are centred on ESD topics. The third conclusion is that students were equally satisfied with the ESD knowledge acquired in all subjects. The results underline the urgent need for student-centred methods that focus on connecting students with nature, for more hours per week in ESD-related subjects, and for a stronger inclusion of ESD content in general-taught subjects. 2. Career aspirations of Slovenian ninth graders : the influence of personal factors and attitudes towards engineering professionsMateja Ploj Virtič, Igor Košak, Andrej Šorgo, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: The study examines the career aspirations of Slovenian ninth-grade students and analyses how these are influenced by personal factors and their attitudes towards engineering professions. Regression analyses on a sample of 779 students show that interest in outdoor work is a significant predictor of engineering career aspirations across all educational levels. Physical demands positively influence aspirations for engineering occupations requiring secondary or elementary education, while intellectual demands and employment opportunities encourage interest in engineering occupations at the tertiary level. A positive perception of engineering professions as interesting is a key factor for all levels of education. The results emphasise the importance of fostering interest in technical careers. 3. Unveiling hype cycle patterns : examining 3D modeling and printing adoption among secondary school teachersBranko Anđić, Andrej Šorgo, Robert Weinhandl, Mirjana Maričić, Zsolt Lavicza, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Despite numerous studies indicating the positive contribution of 3D modeling and printing (3DMP) in learning settings, its current educational use is still rather limited. For the adoption of 3DMP in classrooms, it is critical to understand the views and perceptions of teachers on such new technology. To better understand how teachers perceive 3DMP, a longitudinal study was conducted with 73 Montenegrin secondary school teachers. The study used the Hype Cycle for Emerging Technologies approach to examine changes in teachers' views and perceptions of 3DMP over four time periods: before a workshop on using 3DMP in teaching, immediately after the workshop, three months later, and one year later. Results showed that teachers were motivated to use 3DMP to keep up with new technological trends, create classroom materials, promote inclusion, and STEM learning, and improve students' learning outcomes. The peak of inflated expectations (immediately after the workshop) is characterized by excessively high teacher expectations of 3DMP in terms of perceived pedagogical impact (PPI), perceived usefulness (PU), and barriers (BAR), while teachers' anxiety (ANX) is low; trough of disillusionment (3 months after the workshop) leads to a significant decrease in teachers' positive views and perceptions of PPI, PU, BAR, but an increase in ANX; the slope of enlightenment (one year after the workshop) leads to a recovery in teachers' positive views and perceptions of 3DMP's contribution to PPI, PU, but also BAR, while ANX significantly decreases. These findings provide recommendations for teacher educators, policymakers, 3DMP developers, and future researchers to better support the use of 3DMP in education. 4. Relations between teachers' technology integration within ICAP modes with moderation effects : international perspectiveBranko Anđić, Mirjana Maričić, Soeharto Soeharto, Filiz Mumcu, Robert Weinhandl, Zsolt Lavicza, Andreja Špernjak, Lukáš Rokos, Jan Vondruška, Andrej Šorgo, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: This international study used the Interactive-Constructive-Active-Passive (ICAP) framework to examine the relations between teachers' integration of technology (TI) within different forms of learning/engaging modes. This study also explores how teacher age, experience, gender, and social background relate to these ICAP modes. Data were collected from 2978 teachers from seven European countries and analysed through Covariance-Based Structural Equation (CBSEM) using MPLUS 8 software. The main findings of this study show strong relations among passive, active, constructive, and interactive learning/engaging modes. A notable finding is that teaching experience and socio-economic context significantly influence these TI patterns, which indicate a pronounced shift from passive to active mode among novice teachers and that teachers in lower-ICT contexts face additional barriers. These and other results are discussed in this paper. Ključne besede: integration of technology, digital technologies Objavljeno v DKUM: 21.11.2025; Ogledov: 0; Prenosov: 4

5. The relationship between the daily use of digital technologies and the reading and information literacy skills of 15-year-old studentsVida Lang, Andreja Špernjak, Andrej Šorgo, 2024, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Digital technologies in all forms have become ubiquitous in our media-rich, modern information society, but the connection between their use and information literacy is not always clear. This paper examines the impact of daily use of digital technologies on the reading and information literacy skills of 15-year-old students in Slovenia, based on data from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 study. The study examines PISA 2018 variables related to Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as well as a reading task involving the use of ICT. The sample consists of 2612 Slovenian students with a gender distribution of 50.8% girls and 49.2% boys. The study explores students' experiences, enjoyment, selfefficacy, autonomy, and independence in using ICT and learning about its use and identifies two groups of students: one group that is curious and another that is cautious. The results of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modelling (SEM) show that the constructs of enjoyment, self-efficacy, learning, autonomy, and independence are highly/strongly correlated but have a low/insignificant impact on information literacy skills. 7. The worldview of pre-service and in-service teachers about health educationAndreja Špernjak, Andrej Šorgo, 2020, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Health is coconsidered as goodness; therefore, schools should be places where healthy habits, along with evidence-based medical knowledge and practices, are taught and practiced. The key persons in education are teachers, so their opinions and worldviews should not be neglected. The objective of this work was to identify opinions about health education among Slovenian teachers. We investigated the worldviews of and differences between pre-service and in-service Biology teachers about health education. The questionnaires were delivered to 163 Sloveian participants. Most differences in opinion occurred in the nutrition field between younger and older participants. The majority of participants (85%) agree that "Providing knowledge or developing behavior that is respectful of one's own health" is the main goal of health education. 8. Is the Hitchcock story really true? Public opinion on Hooded crows in cities as input to managementLászló Kövér, Petra Paládi, Isma Benmazouz, Andrej Šorgo, Natalija Špur, Lajos Juhász, Peter Czine, Péter Balogh, Szabolcs Lengyel, 2022, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: In recent years, the Hooded crow (Corvus cornix) has become one of the most successful wild bird species in urban environments across Europe. Hooded crows can cause several problems in cities, including trash scattering, noise disturbance, and aggressive behavior toward humans or pets, and they can be potential vectors of pathogens. To find effective solutions, the public has to be involved in the decision-making process in urban planning management, managed by the city administration. In this study, we surveyed the attitude of people in Hungary towards crows and crow management by collecting information using an online questionnaire containing 65 questions published in 14 Facebook groups. We found that many people were familiar with corvid species and had personal experience with them. In most cases, these experiences were not negative, so the crows were not or only rarely perceived to cause problems to people, such as aggressive behavior, damage to cars or stealing something. Most respondents recognized that the presence of large numbers of hooded crows is a problem to be solved and acknowledged that they do not know how to resolve it. The majority of people expressed their interest in raising public awareness of crows but not in their management actions, which they believe should be implemented by experts. Most respondents preferred passive, harmless methods. More direct methods such as egg/chick removal from the nest, control by trapping, poisoned baits or firearms, or oral contraceptives were the least acceptable. These results express the difficulty in identifying a control method for managing hooded crow populations that is both acceptable to most people and effective at the same time. This study demonstrates the importance of involving public opinion in wildlife management and providing more information to citizens to reduce human-crow conflicts. 9. Differences in user perception of artificial intelligence-driven chatbots and traditional tools in qualitative data analysisBoštjan Šumak, Maja Pušnik, Ines Kožuh, Andrej Šorgo, Saša Brdnik, 2025, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Qualitative data analysis (QDA) tools are essential for extracting insights from complex datasets. This study investigates researchers’ perceptions of the usability, user experience (UX), mental workload, trust, task complexity, and emotional impact of three tools: Taguette 1.4.1 (a traditional QDA tool), ChatGPT (GPT-4, December 2023 version), and Gemini (formerly Google Bard, December 2023 version). Participants (N = 85), Master’s students from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with prior experience in UX evaluations and familiarity with AI-based chatbots, performed sentiment analysis and data annotation tasks using these tools, enabling a comparative evaluation. The results show that AI tools were associated with lower cognitive effort and more positive emotional responses compared to Taguette, which caused higher frustration and workload, especially during cognitively demanding tasks. Among the tools, ChatGPT achieved the highest usability score (SUS = 79.03) and was rated positively for emotional engagement. Trust levels varied, with Taguette preferred for task accuracy and ChatGPT rated highest in user confidence. Despite these differences, all tools performed consistently in identifying qualitative patterns. These findings suggest that AI-driven tools can enhance researchers’ experiences in QDA while emphasizing the need to align tool selection with specific tasks and user preferences. 10. Differences in personal innovativeness in the domain of information technology among university students and teachersAndrej Šorgo, Mateja Ploj Virtič, Kosta Dolenc, 2021, izvirni znanstveni članek Opis: Two online surveys among 1105 university students and 656 employees were conducted with the inclusion of the construct Personal Innovativeness in the domain of Information Technologies (PIIT). After calculating descriptive statistics, statistically significant differences between personal innovativeness of university students and teachers were sought by the application of one-way ANOVA. The first and most important finding was that average perceived PIIT of teachers and students falls around the middle of the seven-point scale, which cannot be regarded as a plausible predictor of upgrading the University as an Innovative Ecosystem. The second was that university teachers scored higher than their students, a situation that could produce an expectancy conflict between those who want to work in an innovative way and those who would prefer study by the book. Teaching assistants, who should belong to the generation of digital natives, are only slightly more innovative than university teachers, who can be regarded as digital immigrants. Assuming that innovativeness can be upgraded by learning, means that efforts should be made by University Management to encourage and support Personal Innovativeness (and other creativities, as well) as a preferred teaching practice.
