Resveratrol food supplement products and the challenges of accurate label information to ensure food safety for consumers
Maja Bensa, Irena Vovk, Vesna Glavnik, 2023, original scientific article

Abstract: The food supplement market is growing as many consumers wish to complement their nutrient intake. Despite all the regulations in place to ensure food supplements safety, there are still many cases of irregularities reported especially connected to internet sales. Twenty resveratrol food supplement products sold on the Slovenian market were evaluated on their compliance of declared vs. determined resveratrol content, as well as the compliance of labels with the European Union (EU) and Slovenian regulatory requirements. Both the ingredient contents and food information are important parts of food safety. Analyses of 20 food supplements performed using high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) coupled with densitometry showed that 95% of products had contents different from what was declared and 55% of products contained higher contents than declared. In 25% of the products the determined content per unit exceeded the maximum level (150 mg/day) specified in EU novel food conditions for food supplement with trans-resveratrol. Evaluation of the 20 food supplement labels included mandatory and voluntary food information, food supplement information, novel food information, health claims and nutrition claims. Most labels contained the necessary information, but multiple errors were observed ranging from typos to misleading practices. From a food safety perspective there is still a lot of improvement needed in the field of food supplements.

DRŽAVNE POMOČI: NOVI AKTI EVROPSKE KOMISIJE NA PODROČJU JAVNEGA FINANCIRANJA STORITEV SPLOŠNEGA GOSPODARSKEGA POMENA
Igor Banič, 2012, undergraduate thesis

Abstract: V diplomskem delu si pogledamo nadnacionalni koncept storitve splošnega gospodarskega pomena, saj predstavlja v konkurenčnem pravu v zadnjih desetletjih eno najbolj burnih debat glede svoje definicije in umestitve v pravne rede posameznih držav članic EU, ki zaradi različnega razumevanja vloge države različno razumejo pojme, kot sta javna služba in javni interes.

The trans European railway network : three levels of services for the passengers
Milan Janić, 1996, original scientific article

Abstract: The paper deals with the concept, analysis and measuring of the quality of services offered by the Trans European Railway Network (TERN). A sub-network serving the passengers travelling over the EU (European Union) and some of the non-EU regions are considered. Two sets of network attributes influencing the quality of services are analysed. One set of network physical attributes is represented by the length of the rail lines connecting specific origins and destinations of the passengers. The other set is represented by the time-based attributes used to measure the quality of services offered to the users. These are: travel speeds along particular lines (routes), and how the passenger's schedule delays depend on the train frequencies (e.g. number of trains offered on particular routes of the network in a given period of time). Considered as a common entity these attributes significantly influence the average passenger's travel time (and speed) which, together with out-of-pocket cost paid for travel, have appeared to be the most important criteria influencing the choice of transport mode.

UPORABA ORODIJ ZA PROGNOZIRANJE DALJINSKEGA PROMETA, PRIMER TRANS-TOOLS
Dejan Prapotnik, 2012, undergraduate thesis

Preparation of enantiomers using high pressure technologies
Paul Thorey, 2010, dissertation

Abstract: The study of two different methods of obtaining chiral alcohols is proposed herein. The requirement of the relatively new paradigm of green chemistry associated with clean technologies such as biocatalysis or non-conventional solvents, dense gases, was focused at. Indeed, the two methods of production of chiral alcohols were: - the conversion of acetophenone into (R)-1-phenylethanol in dense gases catalysed by Lactobacillus brevis alcohol dehydrogenase and its coenzyme, NADP/H; - the resolution of (±)-trans-1,2-cyclohexanediol by cocrystal formation with tartaric acid followed by supercritical extraction. In both cases high enantiopurities were achieved (ee>99%).
