1. Blockchain technology implementation for traceability in the food supply chain – case research : XIII.Marina Balaic, Samo Bobek, Vujica Lazović, Simona Sternad Zabukovšek, 2025, independent scientific component part or a chapter in a monograph Abstract: Food supply chains are evolving into coordinated systems, prompting competition between companies and entire supply networks. In this context, Short Food Supply Chains (SFSCs) have emerged as a response to public concerns about food sourcing and handling. Defined by the EU as systems involving few economic actors committed to local development and close producer-consumer relations, SFSCs present both opportunities and challenges. Among key challenges are identity management, transparency, and security. Blockchain technology, introduced shortly after SFSCs gained attention, offers promising solutions by enhancing traceability and linking product information with physical flows. This chapter explores the role of blockchain in addressing traceability challenges and presents a practical case of its application in SFSCs. Keywords: agribusiness supply chains, short food supply chains, traceability technologies, blockchain technology, implementing blockchain in the food supply chain Published in DKUM: 29.08.2025; Views: 0; Downloads: 11

2. Knowledge supply chains : Enhancing wisdom of green and digital transitionMatevž Obrecht, Tina Cvahte Ojsteršek, Mateja Čuček, Martin Fale, Nena Orel Šanko, Polona Vičič, Bojana Slomšek Šlamberger, Lazar Pavić, 2025, scientific monograph Abstract: The scientific monograph presents the latest findings in the fields of sustainable development and digitalization and applies them to the management of logistics and supply chains. The theoretical part of the monograph opens with chapters that elucidate fundamental concepts in sustainable development, such as sustainable development goals, environmental policy, sustainable production and consumption, the sharing economy, the concept of degrowth and the economy of wellbeing. Next, it discusses the most recent trends in sustainability and the integration of digitalization, whereby the focus is on what is trending and what younger generations perceive as opportunities for priority development. The theoretical section concludes with the presentation of competency models for sustainability and digitalization and the introduction of lifelong learning as a tool for a faster acquisition of knowledge in the areas of sustainable development and digitalization. The latter has been proposed in response to the perceived lack of sustainability and digital skills among individuals who completed formal education at a time when sustainability and digitalization were peripheral topics inadequately integrated into education and the priorities of logistics and supply chains. The research part of the monograph begins by examining the incorporation of sustainable development into the existing legislative framework. Following this, the results of the analysis of the integration of sustainable and digital competencies into Slovenian higher education programmes are presented, along with the results of the analysis of their overlap. The key research output is information obtained from the results of a quantitative study identifying the essential knowledge, skills and abilities needed for the successful simultaneous green and digital transition to Society 5.0 in logistics and supply chains. Additionally, the perceived differences between the economic sector, students and academics in key priority areas are explored. Keywords: sustainable development, digitalization, supply chains, lifelong learning, green and digital transition Published in DKUM: 22.07.2025; Views: 0; Downloads: 15

3. Development of a theoretical model for the price formation of agri-food products in the food supply chain : aǂ Slovenian case studyJernej Prišenk, Nejc Zidar, Jernej Turk, 2025, original scientific article Abstract: The main objective of the research was to develop a theoretical model for price construction in the agri-food sector, which should enable better transparency and efficiency of pricing policies in the food supply chain. The central part of the article focuses on the data set, in which the data sources and the economic analysis methodology are presented in detail. Based on this analysis, a theoretical model for pricing was developed, which is presented in more detail in a separate chapter. The model focuses on prices in three sectors (primary production, food processing industry and distribution/retail) of different food and agri-food chains and offers concrete solutions to improve pricing in these chains. The final chapter contains guidelines and recommendations for the practical application of the model with the aim of improving the transparency and effectiveness of pricing policy in the agri-food sector. The overall report represents an important contribution to understanding the behaviour and responsiveness of agri-food systems to specific cost changes and provides useful guidance for policy makers and stakeholders in the agri-food sector. 6. Differences in understanding the importance of factors influencing collaboration in supply chains in view of educational background and work experiencesSonja Mlaker Kač, Irena Gorenak, 2016, original scientific article Abstract: In the article we theoretically discuss collaboration in inter-organizational relationships and present research results. Our basis is social exchange theory and relationship commitment-trust theory. We point out the importance of the antecedents of collaborative behavior between partners in supply chains. We present the results of our research. The research was made in 2013, in the primary, secondary and tertiary sector of Slovene economy. We included companies of all sizes, both local and foreign ones with a presence in Slovenia. The results show the differences in understanding the importance of collaboration in supply chains and factors that influence collaborative behavior in view of education and work experience of employees working in supply chains. 7. Supply chain perspectives for achieving economic growth and environmental sustainabilityRebeka Kovačič Lukman, Kristijan Brglez, Maja Fošner, 2024, other scientific articles Abstract: A resilient supply chain is crucial for economic growth and the well-being of economies. However, it contributes to environmental challenges, such as resource extraction, material usage, climate change and biodiversity. This Special Volume of the Journal of Logistics, Supply Chain, Sustainability, and Global Challenges explores current research directions and challenges while offering solutions for sustainable supply chains. The volume examines existing European policy directives and strategies to comprehensively understand sustainable supply chain requirements. It conducts a content analysis of the current research in the field. The authors present valuable theoretical insights and empirical case studies addressing the interplay between sustainable supply chains, economic growth, and environmental impact mitigation. The papers in this Special Volume highlight the holistic and interconnected nature of the supply chain field and emphasise that there is still significant potential for improving supply chain processes to enhance their sustainability. Keywords: sustainable supply chains, economic growth, environmental impact, industry 4.0 Published in DKUM: 01.10.2024; Views: 0; Downloads: 379

8. Forecasting US tourists' inflow to Slovenia by modified holt-winters damped model : a case in the tourism industry logistics and supply chainsDejan Dragan, Abolfazl Keshavarzsaleh, Tomaž Kramberger, Borut Jereb, Maja Rosi, 2019, original scientific article Abstract: Forecasting is important in many branches of logistics, including the logistics related to Tourism supply chains. With an increasing inflow of American tourists, planning and forecasting the US tourists' inflow to Slovenia have gained far more importance attention amongst scholars and practitioners. This study, therefore, was conducted to forecast the American tourists' inflow to Slovenia using one of the predictive models based on the exponential smoothing approach, namely Holt-Winters damped additive (HWDA) exponential smoothing method. The model was modified by several improvements, while the obtained results were generalized to other supply chain components. The results show that the forecasting system can predict well the observed inflow, while the methodology used to derive the model might have enriched the plethora of existing practical forecasting approaches in the tourism domain. Benchmarking demonstrates that the proposed model outperforms a competitive ARIMA model and official forecasts. The practical implications are also discussed in this paper.
