Art portfolios in preschool teachers’ initial education as a means of acquiring professional competences and reflective practice
Marijana Županić Benić, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: The study sought to examine the art portfolios of second-year undergraduate students of Early and Preschool Education at the Faculty of Teacher Education in Zagreb and their reflections on their own artwork. The aim was to examine how students experience, reflect on and interpret their creative work process. By reflecting, students acquire deeper understanding of art expression and perfect the ability to plan and evaluate visual art activities for implementation in their future work with children. The results show that students whose reflections on their own artwork through portfolios are more detailed show greater levels of self-awareness, creativity and pedagogical competence.

Research probe My home, artist-based research : in search of language to interpret perceived and experienced space
Pavla Gajdošíková, 2018, original scientific article

Abstract: In the research probe “My Home,” we investigated students’ statements about and how they experience their relationship to a particular place: home. The subject of this exploration is the mutual overlap among architecture, works of art and art education, and their common language across these fields. The character of our research was inspired by phenomenological approaches. We chose methodologies related to art and design creation. We arrived at the conclusion that the phenomenology of architecture investigated in connection with the semiotic concept of art education can yield much inspiration and is a topic relevant to both the teaching artist and students.

Surface Reflection Suppression Method for Air-Coupled SFCW GPR Systems
Primož Smogavec, Dušan Gleich, 2025, original scientific article

Abstract: Air-coupled ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems are widely used for subsurface imaging in demining, geological surveys, and infrastructure assessment applications. However, strong surface reflections can introduce interference, leading to receiver saturation and reducing the clarity of subsurface features. This paper presents a novel surface reflection suppression algorithm for stepped-frequency continuous wave (SFCW) GPR systems. The proposed method estimates the surface reflection component and applies phase-compensated subtraction at the receiver site, effectively suppressing background reflections. A modular SFCW radar system was developed and tested in a laboratory setup simulating a low-altitude airborne deployment to validate the proposed approach. B-scan and time-domain analyses demonstrate significant suppression of surface reflections, improving the visibility of subsurface targets. Unlike previous static echo cancellation methods, the proposed method performs on-board pre-downconversion removal of surface clutter that compensates for varying ground distance, which is a unique contribution of this work.

Indentification elements of optimal organisational model of tourism education in Slovenia
Marija Ovsenik, 2013, original scientific article

Abstract: The main aim of the research was to identify the elements of a suitable organisational educational model for tourism in Slovenia. Our research was based on the need of inner circular reflexive performance of the individual in the tourism education model, institutionalised concept of education, which is viewed by outer reflexive model of tourism educational institutions performance and functional practical interaction of individuals and tourism institutions at the development of innovative potentials in the field of tourism. Tendencies to develop complex and qualitative services coming from permanent strengthening of innovative potential of tourism services are common in this field. It is necessary to develop a suitable model in the field of tourism education that places an individual in the educational process taking into account his/her conscious reflection, rational reflection and acquired motivation for solving complex projects in various levels of tourism. Suitable tourism education model, which is level-structured, is expanded in two ways. It includes the active role of an individual in rationalising practical knowledge and strengthening the innovative potential in developing his/her competences, and the role of tourism education institutions. The organisational cultural dimension can be observed as dual activity structure distinguishing between conscious reflection of the external environment on the level of educational institution and internal practical consciousness on the level of individual development of competences. Giddens structuration theory is used as a conceptual frame explaining the organisational-cultural dimensions of suitably structured educational model for tourism in Slovenia. The conclusion is based on the fact that an individual does not acknowledge the multilevel structure of study at higher education where there is an absence of conscious, practical and motivational reflection. Organisational cultural environment in the field of tourism education in Slovenia prefers practical and functional ways of acquiring competences on a higher and postgraduate (Master’s) level of study. Due to the structured changes implemented by the Bologna process, competences are not realised on the higher education level but on the postgraduate (Master’s) level, which demands a systematic review and a suitable education model change.

The connection between the order of simple groups and the maximum number of elementary particles
Leila Marek-Crnjac, 2008, original scientific article

Abstract: Namen tega članka je predstaviti sferične, evklidske in hiperbolične poliedre in najti nekaj povezav reda njihovih grup zrcaljenj in grup, kot so na primer PGL(2,7), PGL(2,8), PGL(2,7)▫$times C_2$▫, PSL(2,31)▫$times C_2$▫, s številom elementarnih delcev.

Mott-Peierls phase in deuterated copper-DCNQI systems: a comprehensive study of longitudinal and transverse conductivity and ageing effects
Marko Pinterić, Tomislav Vuletić, Martin Lončarić, Konstantin Petukhov, Boris Gorshunov, Jost Ulrich von Schütz, Silvija Tomić, Martin Dressel, 2003, original scientific article

Abstract: Transport and low-frequency optical reflection measurements (180-380 GHz) are reported for the quasi-three-dimensional conducting alloy ▫$Cu[(2,5(CH_3)_2-DCNQI)_{0.70}(2,5(CD_3)_2-DCNQI)_{0.30}]_2$▫ between room temperature and 35 K. The optical properties of the system are strongly anisotropic. It is metallic down to 60 K where a Mott-Peierls phase transition occurs. While the transverse conductivity remains practically unchanged, the longitudinal conductivity abruptly drops at the phase transition. Comparing our latest results with previous dc data and measurements of the microwave conductivity also reported here, we find indications of an ageing effect in these samples.
