1. Association between one's attachment to parents and subsequent attachment to a partnerJernej Kovač, Marija Javornik, 2021, original scientific article Abstract: The primary purpose of this study was to explore the association between individuals' attachments to their mothers and fathers, and their subsequent attachments to partners, based on research conducted in Slovenia. Participants in the empirical study were antenuptial couples who attended the premarital counselling course organized by and offered through the Franciscan Family Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In order to explore more fully the concept of attachment, the authors of the study focused on the following dimensions: trust, communication and estrangement. The results of the study showed greater similarities in the three identified dimensions to the way in which both women and men experience attachment to their mothers and partners, while there were marked differences in the subjects' experience of attachment to their fathers. 2. Attitudes of future preschool educators about parental competenciesSandra Kadum, Jurka Lepičnik-Vodopivec, Maja Hmelak, 2022, original scientific article Abstract: The early childhood is the period when parents have the greatest influence on the upbringing of their child. In order to act positively in the upbringing of their own child, parents must be competent. Being competent means to have knowledge, be efficient and skilled in realizing certain forms of behaviour and to achieve results that are expected of it. Parents are expected to develop all socially desirable and positive traits in the child. In this process, parents are seeking support from the preschool teachers because they have the greatest interaction with them when they leave the child in the educational institution. That was exactly the point in this research i.e. we wanted to see whether future educational workers are trained and whether parents make mistakes in the upbringing of their children. 347 students of the preschool education studies in Pula, Koper and Maribor were questioned. The results indicate that our respondents noticed that parents have problems in the relationships with their children because they do not have enough knowledge to access their own child and ‘blame’ the TV/media and the peers for it. 3. Depression, anxiety, stress, and coping mechanisms among parents of children with autism spectrum disorderAjda Demšar, Karin Bakračevič, 2023, original scientific article Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to determine the level of stress, anxiety, and depression among Slovenian parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and their coping mechanisms. The study included 42 parents of children with ASD who were enrolled at a specialised clinic for children with hearing and speech difficulties. We used the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS), the Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced (COPE) inventory, and a demographic questionnaire which included questions on satisfaction with life and social support received. The respondents reported no clinically elevated levels of stress, depression or anxiety. However, the mothers reported more stress and anxiety related symptoms then did the fathers. The results showed that coping strategies of positive reinterpretation and growth were positively correlated to higher perceived social support and greater satisfaction with life, and were negatively correlated with depression and anxiety. Perceived social support was highly negatively correlated with anxiety. Strategies of acceptance were used significantly more often by individuals with a higher level of education. 4. Collaboration with immigrant parents in early childhood education in Slovenia : how important are environmental conditions and skills of teachers?Marta Licardo, Lais Oliveira Leite, 2022, original scientific article Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyse how important are specific environmental conditions and skills of early childhood education (ECE) teachers as predictors of collaboration with immigrant parents. The study included 348 ECE teachers in Slovenia. The results revealed that environmental conditions (e.g., gender, level of education, job position, educational environment support) are important predictors of collaboration with immigrant parents. Male teachers, teachers whose job position is ECE teacher rather than assistant teacher, and teachers who have higher levels of education reported a significantly better collaboration with immigrant parents than female teachers and teachers with lower educational levels. Regarding ECE teacher skills, results revealed that interpersonal and professional skills (e.g., positive values, positive attitudes towards teaching immigrant children and perceived immigrant child misbehaviour) are important predictors of reported collaboration with immigrant parents in ECE. The results are of practical significance for ECE teachers, immigrant parents and ECE management staff. 5. Plans of the German government to reform the law of guardianship for minors : a presentation of the present and the future law in GermanyHelga Oberloskamp, 2017, original scientific article Abstract: For years the praxis has asked for a new law of guardianship, because many things in the current law (which is 117 years old) do not cover the needs of today. Although no one wants to abandon the German system of hav-ing single persons, private organizations and public institutions being guardians, it is disputed until today if there is a ranking between them and if it should be possible to give several guarding/ educating persons to one child and if yes who should bear responsibility. Besides a new law should express clearly the rights of the children and the responsibilities of the guardians. 8. Some aspects of teaching media literacy to pre-school children in Slovenia from a perception standpoint of teachers and parentsJurka Lepičnik-Vodopivec, 2011, original scientific article Abstract: This paper deals with media literacy as a multidimensional skill that parents and teachers possess. In this context we warn of the media-technical aspect of this skill and, within this aspect, of parents' and teachers' opinion on the presence of media in children's lives. Following that, the paper explores teachers' media-didactic competence as a component of educators' media literacy. In the empiric part we used two aspects of fostering media literacy. One is the media-technical competence of parents and educators, while the other is the media-didactic competence of educators. We found that both parents and teachers believe that media have a strong presence in everyday lives of pre-school children and that they play an important role in teaching pre-school children. Teachers are aware of the importance of early teaching with media, for media and about media with the purpose of developing children's media literacy, so they will not be afraid of media when they grow up.
