Development through movement - psychopedagogical analysis and psychomotor approaches

Abstract: This paper discusses psychomotor development in early childhood and consists of three parts. The first part is a brief historical overview of the theoretical description and analysis of movement. The second part gives an overview of the variety of movement therapies and activity methods, which are effective in kindergarten work. The third part of the paper is an attempt to analyse and to reflect on the authors' own practical experiences of psychomotor work in kindergartens in Poland and Norway.

Vgradnja pomožnega motorja na vozilo gnano s človeško močjo

Abstract: V okviru diplomske naloge smo konstruirali planetno gonilo, ki bo gnalo zadnje kolo tricikla. Skicirali smo tudi predvideno pritrditev pomožnega motorja. Motorju smo morali skonstruirati funkcionalno, majhno, planetno gonilo tipa 2AA. Predstavljen je tudi analitični preračuni gredi in zobnikov planetnega gonila. Tako smo se dobro seznanili z lastnostmi planetnih gonil.

Motor structure and basic movement competences in early child development

Abstract: Motor development consists of dynamic and continuous development in motor behaviour and is reflected in motor competences (on the locomotive, manipulative and postural level) and motor abilities (coordination, strength, speed, balance, flexibility, precision and endurance). This is a complex process in which a child acquires motor abilities and knowledge in interaction with inherited and environmental factors. A sample of 603 boys and girls, of which 263 were aged five (age deviation +/– 3 days; 18,5 ± 3,1kg body weight; 109,4 ± 4,3 cm body height) and 340 were aged six and a half (age deviation +/– 3 days; 23, 7 ± 4, 3 kg body weight; 121 ± 4,8 cm body height), were involved in this study after written consent was obtained from their parents. The children’s motor structure was established through the application of 28 tests that had been verified on the Slovene population and established as adequate for the study of motor abilities in the sample children. The factor analysis was applied to uncover the latent structure of motor space, and PB (Štalec & Momirović) criteria were used to establish the number of significant basic components. The analysis of the motor space structure revealed certain particularities for each age period. In the sample of 5 year old children, the use of PB criterion revealed four latent motor dimensions, in 6.5 year old children, the latent motor space structure was described with four (boys) and five (girls) factors. Despite the existence of gender differences in motor space structure and certain particularities in each age period mostly related to the factors which influence movement coordination, several very similar dimensions were discovered in both sexes.

Increased augmentation index and central systolic arterial pressure are associated with lower school and motor performance in young adolescents

Abstract: Objective: In adults, improper arterial function has been linked to cognitive impairment. The pulse wave velocity (PWV), augmentation index (AIx) and other vascular parameters are useful indicators of arterial health. In our study, we monitored arterial properties, body constitution, school success, and motor skills in young adolescents. We hypothesize that reduced cognitive and motor abilities have a vascular origin in children. Methods: We analysed 81 healthy school children aged 11-16 years. Anthropometry central systolic arterial pressure, body mass index (BMI), standard deviation scores (SDS) BMI, general school performance grade, and eight motor tests were assessed. PWV, AIx, and central systolic arterial pressure (SBPao) were measured. Results: AIx and SBPao correlated negatively with school performance grades. Extremely high AIx, PWVand SBPao values were observed in 5% of children and these children had average to low school performance. PWV correlated significantly with weight, height, and waist and hip circumference. AIx, PWV, school success, and BMI correlated strongly with certain motor functions. Conclusions: Increased AIx and SBPao are associated with lower school and motor performance in children. PWV is influenced by the body's constitution.

Biomechanical characteristics of skeletal muscles and associations between running speed and contraction time in 8- to 13-year-old children

Abstract: Objective: To investigate associations between running speeds and contraction times in 8- to 13-year-old children. Method: This longitudinal study analyzed tensiomyographic measurements of vastus lateralis and biceps femoris muscles’ contraction times and maximum running speeds in 107 children (53 boys, 54 girls). Data were evaluated using multiple correspondence analysis. Results: A gender difference existed between the vastus lateralis contraction times and running speeds. The running speed was less dependent on vastus lateralis contraction times in boys than in girls. Analysis of biceps femoris contraction times and running speeds revealed that running speeds of boys were much more structurally associated with contraction times than those of girls, for whom the association seemed chaotic. Conclusion: Joint category plots showed that contraction times of biceps femoris were associated much more closely with running speed than those of the vastus lateralis muscle. These results provide insight into a new dimension of children’s development.

Vodenje linearne osi s koračnim motorjem

Abstract: Zasnovana in izdelana je elektromehanska, demonstracijska, linearna enota. Za doseganje zahtevanega položaja je uporabljena linearna os, ki jo načeloma lahko premika tako koračni motor kot tudi servomotor. Poudarek je na uporabi koračnega motorja. Osrednji namen je enostavno in nazorno prikazati, kako na regulacijo vplivajo posamezni členi regulatorja, vrsta regulatorja, nastavljeni parametri ter izbran pogonski motor. Uporaba sistema je preprosta, saj je potrebno v uporabniški vmesnik le vnesti zahtevane podatke in linearno os pognati. Nato preko grafičnega vmesnika spremljamo obnašanje sistema ter delovanje regulatorja. Možno je tudi analizirati gibanje linearne osi ter primerjati odzive na spremembe vhodnih parametrov. Na ta način je mogoče testirati različne koncepte vodenja oziroma regulatorje do skrajnih meja zmogljivosti, ki jih dopušča uporabljeni motor. Pri tem pa ni bojazni, da bi prišlo do poškodovanja opreme.

Izvedba linearne podajalne osi s servo motorjem Beckhoff

Abstract: Namen magistrske naloge je izdelava linearne podajalne osi, ki deluje v realnem času (angl.: real–time) za potrebe izobraževanja na področju krmilne tehnike, avtomatizacije in regulacije. Linearna podajalna os je sestavljena iz linearne podajalne osi, koračnega motorja in servo motorja. Konstrukcija linearne osi omogoča, da je pogonski motor le eden izmed njiju. V magistrski nalogi bodo podrobneje opisani servo motor, krmilje, regulacija in izdelava HMI vizualizacijskega vmesnika v programskem okolju Visual Studio C#. S pomočjo uporabniškega vmesnika, ki smo ga izdelali, lahko izberemo motor, način vodenja in vrsto regulatorja. Uporabniški vmesnik ima možnost izrisa diagrama odzivov. Programska oprema in vse komponente, ki smo jih uporabili za izdelavo linearne podajalne osi, so popolnoma industrijska, to pomeni, da jih srečamo povsod v industriji. Tako uporabnik pridobi znanje, kako pravilno izbrati parametre regulatorja motorja ne glede na to ali je motor manjši ali mnogokrat močnejši.

Motor unit characteristics after targeted muscle reinnervation

Abstract: Targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) is a surgical procedure used to redirect nerves originally controlling muscles of the amputated limb into remaining muscles above the amputation, to treat phantom limb pain and facilitate prosthetic control. While this procedure effectively establishes robust prosthetic control, there is little knowledge on the behavior and characteristics of the reinnervated motor units. In this study we compared the m. pectoralis of five TMR patients to nine able-bodied controls with respect to motor unit action potential (MUAP) characteristics. We recorded and decomposed high-density surface EMG signals into individual spike trains of motor unit action potentials. In the TMR patients the MUAP surface area normalized to the electrode grid surface (0.25 ± 0.17 and 0.81 ± 0.46, p < 0.001) and the MUAP duration (10.92 ± 3.89 ms and 14.03 ± 3.91 ms, p < 0.01) were smaller for the TMR group than for the controls. The mean MUAP amplitude (0.19 ± 0.11 mV and 0.14 ± 0.06 mV, p = 0.07) was not significantly different between the two groups. Finally, we observed that MUAP surface representation in TMR generally overlapped, and the surface occupied by motor units corresponding to only one motor task was on average smaller than 12% of the electrode surface. These results suggest that smaller MUAP surface areas in TMR patients do not necessarily facilitate prosthetic control due to a high degree of overlap between these areas, and a neural information—based control could lead to improved performance. Based on the results we also infer that the size of the motor units after reinnervation is influenced by the size of the innervating motor neuron.

Koriščenje odpadne toplote iz motorjev z notranjim izgorevanjem

Abstract: V magistrskem delu je opisano pridobivanje električne energije iz odpadne toplote motorja z notranjim zgorevanjem. Magistrsko delo vsebuje preračune izgub dizelskega motorja preko izgorelih plinov. Preračuni se nanašajo na tovorno vozilo, kjer je poraba goriva večja od osebnih vozil. Sistem se izplača le v primerih, kadar imamo toplotni stroj z veliko porabo in s konstantnim delovanjem. Na voljo imamo več sistemov koriščenja odpadne toplote, iz Peltierjevega modula, Stirlingovega motorja itd., vendar je v magistrskem delu za preračune uporabljen izključno turbinski model. Za samo proizvodnjo električne energije je najbolj primeren turbinski sistem prav zaradi boljših karakteristik delovanja, vendar potrebuje relativno konstanten doprinos toplotne energije.

Measurement of the logistic customer service level in commercial cargo motor transport companies

Abstract: The term of logistic customer service is defined as the abilities or skills to meet the customer's requirements and expectations, chiefly in terms of the time and place of deliveries, while using all available forms of logistic activity, including transport, storage, and the management of inventories, information and packages. As eac h of the logistic activities has an effect on the customer receiving right product or service, in its proper condition, in the correct time and space, and at reasonable costs, so seeking the proper service comes down to managing logistic activities in such a manner, as to achieve the essential level of customer satisfaction at the lowest possible costs. The identified elements of logistic customer service in an organization are placed on a specific level, as assessed from the perspective of the purchasers' expectations. Among various methods for measuring customer service level, or quality, which are described in the literature on the subject, the SERVQUAL is recognized as one of the most effective. The SERVQUAL method relies on measuring the differences th at exist between the quality, as perceived by a customer, and the quality demanded by that customer from a specific service. In order to determine the difference, both the customer's expectations for the service level, and their fulfilment by a specific or ganization need to be examined at the same time. The elements of logistic customer service of the Silesian Province's (region in southern Poland) commercial cargo motor transport enterprises under study are placed on a measurable level, as evaluated from t he perspective of the recipients of offered transport services. The measurement of the logistic customer service level, as found in the entities examined, was made using the SERVQUAL method. The survey questionnaire used in the study was constructed based on 22 logistic customer service determinants. Questionnaire forms were filled by 294 customers of 147 Silesian Province's commercial cargo motor transport enterprises examined, i.e. two customers of each enterprise. The article presents theoretical basis for the measurement of the logistic customer service level by the SERVQUAL method, description of acquiring the research material, analysis of examination results and conclusions.
